19. Mirrocle Comes to Help

Translator: Ann Yi

Mirrocle, male, 24 years old; occupation: magician.

There wasn’t much personal info about him, but there was quite a lot of news involving him. Apart from the recent snake-biting incident where Mirrocle played a righteous role, however, when Frost flipped through the information sent by Noah, he found that Mirrocle was practically a rescuer in all kinds of news about animals.

For example, there was this news not a long time ago. A small elephant had been forced to performin a circus. No one paid attention to it until both of its legs were broken. In the end, it died in pain at the age of three.

At first, it didn’t attract much attention until Mirrocle revealed online how the small elephant was abused when it was alive, as well as how common it was for animals in that circus to be abused and forced to perform.

He was involved in various incidents where animals hurt people and where people hurt animals.

Frost looked at the data feeling confused. He was a little uncertain. Was he really a magician and not a member of the animal protection association?

At the bottom was Mirrocle’s home address. Frost glanced at it. It was a community not far from his community.

He planned to go directly to Mirrocle’s place to seek help. And he would bring Murk along, or it would make him sound insane if he just went there and said that his fox fairy had been taken away by others. That way, Mirrocle wouldn’t believe him.

Murk felt that Frost would definitely fail to find Mirrocle. If that guy could stay at home, he would not have run away.

Murk didn’t expect Dr. Frost to find Mirrocle the first time he went there.

Mirrocle opened the door and saw Murk in Frost’s arms. He took Murk from Frost’s arms, hugged Murk tightly and kissed him on the face.

Murk stretched out his paws. He just wanted to scratch Mirrocle’s face so much but he ended up doing nothing.

“Meow-meow-ah-oh! (Stop it! You’re getting your saliva on my hair! If you kiss me again, I’ll scratch you!)”

Frost watched one man kissing one cat. The man was affectionate while the cat looked disdainful.

“He said that he would scratch you if you got your saliva on his hair again.”

Only then did Mirrocle notice that there was a stranger standing at the door. He scratched his head embarrassingly and said, “Thank you. Thank you for helping me get Murk back. Thank you so much!”

Frost waved his hand to indicate that it was alright, “Murk told me to come here. He has been at my house for the past month. Actually, I’m here because I need your help.”

Since Murk said that the shy young man had a way to find the little fox, Frost had no other options but to believe him.

Mirrocle looked at the black cat in his hand in astonishment. Having been kissed and rubbed, the black cat, whose fur had been smooth, now looked like a messy rag.

Murk ignored him and rolled his eyes at him.

“Murk asked you to come and ask me for help? Can I ask what it is?”

Frost frowned and thought about what Murk had told him and how his house looked like. He didn’t know where to start.

“Aren’t you gonna invite me to go inside, sit down and talk?” He thought that he needed to explain the whole story clearly.

An awkward smile flashed across Mirrocle’s face. He unnaturally stepped aside and invited Frost to enter.

Frost had yet to step inside when he smelled the rotten odour of the place.

As a clean freak, he couldn’t allow himself to get in there, so he said naturally. “There is a cafe nearby and the coffee there is pretty good. Let’s go and talk there.”

“Meow-meow-mewo-meow. (Dr. Frost, help me scold him. Look how lazy he is! I knew that he would not clean up the house. All he does is to create garbage.)”

Frost coughed lightly. He felt that it was best not to get involved in the conflicts between an animal and its master. Right now the most important thing was to find the little fox.

“The thing is, I picked up a fox fairy more than half a month ago and he was kidnapped today…”

Concisely and comprehensively, he told Mirrocle what had happened, including the fact that he could understand what  animals said, and how Murk gave him advice to ask Mirrocle for help.

Mirrocle grew up in a magic school on the mountain, and he got along well with the animals in the mountains. He also ran into many fairies. He understood what the fairies said, but he couldn’t understand what the ordinary animals said. This was the first time he met an ordinary person who could understand the animals’ languages without relying on magic power.

“Meow-meow-meow-meow. (Dr. Frost, tell him that the fox fairy you picked up was called Larry. And he will know what to do.)”

Mirrocle looked at the black cat in surprise and asked Frost curiously, “What did he just say?”

Frost looked complicated. “He said that the fox I picked up was called Larry. And you know what to do.”

The chair made an ear-piercing sound due to friction against the ground as Mirrocle suddenly stood up. Everyone in the cafe turned to look over.

Frost saw how excited Mirrocle suddenly became and felt that there might be something really important that he did not know.

“Is there a problem?”

Mirrocle hurriedly waved his hand, “No, no, no, not at all. Let’s go to your house now. It’s not been too long. We might still be able to track their spiritual aura.”

Since Mirrocle was unwilling to say it, Frost didn’t insist on it.

When Larry woke up, he found himself in a dark space. No one could hear his voice. When he tried to touch his surroundings, it felt like there was no border.

“Hey! Is there anyone? !”

There was no response and there was no extra sound. Larry felt that his senses were about to go wrong. This was a strange space. There was no sound, no light, and nothing.

He wondered if someone would come to save him. He thought about it. Murk was too weak. Even if he wanted to save him, he wouldn’t have the ability to do so.

‘Dr. Frost, sigh… Dr. Frost probably doesn’t know who I am. When he goes back home, he’ll probably think that I demolished his house.’

‘Junior June…’ When he thought about June, Larry couldn’t help but shiver. Forget it. He didn’t want to see June again.

The Black Guard and the White Guard? They had said that they would come over from time to time to ask him to fill in the surveys. But it had been more than a month and they were nowhere to be seen. He couldn’t count on them… Larry couldn’t help but remember what a girl had said to him before: Whatever a man says, he is a liar.

Larry still hoped that Dr. Frost could come and save him. Even though Larry knew that Dr. Frost was an ordinary person and that it was almost unlikely that he would come and save him, he still couldn’t help but look forward to it. After all, they’d slept on the same bed for so many nights.

Mirrocle saw Frost’s house and looked at Frost in a strange way. This house was full of fairy aura. If an ordinary person lived here for long, he would get seriously sick.

But given the density of the fairy aura and Dr. Frost’s condition, Mirrocle thought that it didn’t make sense. Besides the fairy aura, there was also a slight trace of… ghost aura.
