Chapter 2: First World (2) [Part 1]

Ji Mo raised her head subconsciously and looked at the woman who was emitting a strong aura around her. The woman’s face was solemn and she was staring at her feet unblinkingly.

Shortly after that, she squatted down and held her ankle with her slim and white hand. The touch of the woman’s finger was very warm, which made people feel soft for no reason.

The woman’s eyes stayed on the soles of her feet. “Grandma, leave this matter to me. You’re not young anymore, but you still stay up late. You should rest more. You always say that young people don’t care about their bodies, then aren’t you the same? Even after retiring, you still chose to set up a clinic.”

“It will hurt later, but make sure not to move around.” The woman spoke to Ji Mo. Her voice was cold and flat without any fluctuations. The tone of her voice was firm, as if she was stating a statement, and was not trying to warn her at all.

The injury on Ji Mo’s feet looked severe, but in the eyes of the woman, this injury was nothing. Ji Mo guessed that maybe she was used to seeing these kinds of things.

Ji Mo was also used to seeing bloody scenes in normal times, so this small wound was really not worth mentioning. But this body was very keen when it came to pain. The pain was magnified several times and she couldn’t control it even if she wanted to.

“I’m accustomed to working all the time, how can my hands not be tied up?” Granny Zhou went to get the disinfectant tools. While doing so, she spoke with a radiant smile plastered on her face. “This is my granddaughter Chu Wei. She just came back from abroad. She gave up many opportunities abroad and insisted on coming back here. Now, she is a doctor in No. 1 Hospital. She said she was worried about me, an old woman living alone, and that’s why she decided to come back. But really, now that the transportation is well developed, isn’t it the same even if she came back? Young people nowadays, they should grab opportunities outside instead of staying here, right?”

Chu Wei didn’t speak anymore. She took the disinfectant tools and began to remove the dirt on Ji Mo’s wounds.

Ji Mo felt pain, but it within on her scope. Chu Wei’s movements when disinfecting her wound were swift and decisive, not sloppy in the slightest. Still, Ji Mo felt a bit of pain every time her wound was touched.

Twenty minutes later, Chu Wei finished disinfecting the wound and began to apply the medicine before bandaging it.

“Thank you, Dr. Chu.” Ji Mo sincerely expressed her gratitude to this young and beautiful Dr. Chu, who was also a doctor from No. 1 Hospital. From the way she handled her wound just now, she was certain that her medical skills were top notch.

“Your shoes didn’t seem like they didn’t fit your feet. Why did you take them off and walk barefooted? There are no marks on your feet, so I guess that you didn’t take off your shoes because of that reason.” Chu Wei expressed her doubts. But this time, her tone was not as cold as before.

Ji Mo was once again reminded of the danger brought by the misogynist murderer. She made up her mind and decided to tell what happened to her. After all, Dr. Chu was also a woman and it was not certain that she wouldn’t encounter another mad misogynist.

“After getting off the subway just now, I have this kind of feeling that someone is following me. I felt something was wrong. When I turned around, I saw a man holding a baseball bat suspiciously with a weird smile on his face. I quickly took off my shoes and ran. It was a sudden stroke of luck that my location at that time was relatively close to the community.”

“There is some gravel on that road. I didn’t pay attention when I ran, so I scratched the soles of my feet.” Ji Mo simply told her the summary of the story. She was afraid that if people knew the entire story, they would feel strange and terrified.

If she was not mistaken, then after hearing the truth, people may feel that she was making a big fuss and was only scaring herself. They would feel that she was deliberately misleading them.

Just like the couple who were guarding the flushed child. If they hear what she said, they might misunderstand her and think that she was spouting nonsense. They were one of the few old residents here but they never heard of any strange man following a woman in the small alley.

“Xiao Ji, don’t work overtime until night. It’s really not safe for a girl like you to walk alone at night.” Granny Zhou sternly said, “It’s okay to run away immediately when you see someone following you. What you did is right, being vigilant and running quickly after sensing that something is wrong.”

“There are so many perverts in society now, of which the majority have been reported in the news. I remember that when I was still working in the hospital, I often heard cases of people being injured for no particular reason. They had no grudges towards anyone but they were plotted against by people who don’t they know. Their injury varies from minor to major, and some of them couldn’t even make it to the hospital and directly died as a result.”

“Don’t blame me for nagging too much, but girl, you really have to pay attention to your safety outside. Don’t go home so late after work. If you really have to work overtime, just spend a night at your company and don’t try to rush home in the middle of the night. In fact, the best way that you can do is to find a place near to your company. It’s convenient when your commuting as well as good for your safety.

“You’re right, Grandma Zhou. Tonight’s event really scared me a lot. I’m thinking of moving out of my house.” Who knows if that misogynist murderer will find her again. Yet, at that time, she would have no chance to escape again. The original owner’s body was very weak and had no chance at all of fighting the murderer. Maybe right now, the murderer had already realized that he had been deceived by her, and was thinking of a way to get back at her.

It was really not easy for a small cannon fodder like her to live safely.

From what System No. 444 has said, the system department also has other people in charge of other types of tasks, such as female leads, male leads, villains, and so on.

Everyone of them lives a more comfortable life than her. System No. 444 was the system responsible for small cannon fodder tasks, but whether the small cannon fodder can survive or not depends on their skills.

Sure enough, a small cannon fodder would be a small cannon fodder and her only role was to die. However, although that was the case, there was still a chance of avoiding the impending death.
