Marvel: My Own Path

Chapter 13 - They Dare?!

The reason that Skye picked the seat by the window was that it was the area that would allow him to absorb the rays of sunlight the most.

When Skye sat down on his seat, the classroom was immediately sent into an uproar.

"Woooow! How arrogant is this prick huh?!" cried a young man.

"Are you looking down on us?!" shouted a ripped guy.

"Tsk, just 'cos you're a little bit more handsome than me, you think you can act like that?"

"What a weirdo..."

Meanwhile, the girls,

One of them squealed. "My gosh how cool! He's just oozing of confidence!"

Another one of them was fanning herself with her hand. "Is it just me, or is getting hot in here?"

"Umm, I have a homework here that I can't understand...can you help me, Skye?"

"..."

"..."

Naturally, Skye just ignored them all and took out a book that was titled: [Norse: Myths and Fables].

'What exactly is Asgard?' thought Skye.

Other than the fact that Asgard was the home of Nordic gods, and other than a few famous names, Skye knew nothing else.

He wanted to know more about the realm and its inhabitants since he knew that they'll be playing a major role in the future.

Ignoring the new professor that was Sharon, Skye continued to read from where he was the last time.

.....

The system announcement reverberated in Skye's ears as he walked out of the lecture hall, finally done for the day.

Hearing the description of the [Random Gift], his brow raised.

'System, when it means a random reward, it means absolutely anything from the shop right?'

System: [That is correct.]

'Then, doesn't that mean that there's a chance that I could get those that are priced hundreds of thousands of points? Or even those that are a million points?'

System: [Indeed, however, it will all depend on your luck.]

Skye's eyes shone at the possibility. He immediately left the campus and headed for his car, intending to go straight home.

Meanwhile, staring at Skye's back, Sharon raised her hand and covered her ear. "Skye Hunt, assessment, while he does have an exceptional appearance, his personality, however, is simply too eccentric. I cannot link him to that person who slew a dozen of the Hand's mercs."

After saying that, her hand entered her pencil skirt's pocket.

'Who exactly are you?' she thought as she looked at that back which eventually faded away.

At his living room.

Skye, who had just stepped into the living room, immediately swept his gaze around with his Sharingan activated.

"It seems they haven't bugged this place yet," he muttered as he sat on the large white sofa.

"System, use the Random Gift."

System: [Using the Random Gift now, confirm?]

"Yes."

System: [A Random Gift has been used!]

System: [You have received: Clear-Heart Pendant.]

'Hmm... seems pretty useless to me' thought Skye.

"System, how much is this necklace sold for in the system shop?" he asked.

System: [The Clear-Heart Pendant costs 1,000 system points in the system shop.]

What?

Staring at the delicately made metallic chain, his eyes then looked at the almond-shaped purple gem which was strikingly similar to amethyst.

At that moment, he suddenly thought of his sister and decided that he'll just give this [Clear-Heart Pendant] to her later.

**********

Three days later—5th of May, 2009.

For the past few days, Skye had been attending his classes so he could receive the system points reward.

During this time, he had also been continuously absorbing solar radiation and he clearly felt the difference between his strength now, and when he had just received the Kryptonian Physique.

Waking up, Skye glanced at the digital clock on the desk beside the bed and saw that it was exactly 6 a.m.

A while later, right when he had just finished taking a shower, Skye heard his phone ringing.

Walking towards his phone while drying his hair, Skye picked it up and saw that the caller was his little sister, Jade.

Although a bit nervous to hear his sister's voice for the first time, he still picked it up and immediately greeted.

"Hello my sister, how's your field trip going?"

Expecting a response, what greeted Skye was total silence.

Just as he was about to say something, a low, whispering voice came first.

"Brother... please help me," said Jade in a hushed tone.

At that moment, Skye's smiling face drastically changed.

"Jade, are you okay? Are you injured? Tell me where you are." asked Skye, his breathing becoming rapid.

The other side was silent once more for a second or two.

"I-i don't know where I am, I'm all alone...I can only see darkness..." Jade whispered. She paused again, but this time for a few seconds. "Brother... there are people here..."

"Jade, don't worry, I'll be there, I'll be there soon okay? Just wait for me" said Skye as he hurriedly ran out of the house.

He wanted to hear her voice more but what he heard instead made his heart sunk.

"She's on the phone!" yelled a voice in the background.

"It doesn't matter who she calls, take her!" ordered someone with an emotionless voice.

"Brothe—" Jade wanted to call out one more time only to be interrupted as a muffled sound came from the phone's speaker.

"Jade? Jade?!" yelled Skye.

A second later, the call was dismissed.

Moving the phone from his ears, Skye's face was bone-chillingly emotionless, his eyes radiating the will to slaughter.

At that moment, a murderous aura fluctuated from Skye as it spread in all direction, nearly turning the whole street into a gloomy ghost town.

However, Skye didn't panic but instead remained dangerously calm. He was calm to the point that even if the sky was to fall, his heart would remain unmoved.

If those people who had known Skye on his previous world saw him now, then they would all shake their heads in pity.

They would pity those who had invoked the wrath of the Demon King, as not a single living being who had ever crossed him, survived.

Skye looked around for a few moments before his gaze settled onto a black van that was hundreds of meters away.

As a deadly aura radiated from him, he dashed towards the van, reaching it in a matter of seconds.

**********

Within the back black van, Sharon Carter, who was currently wearing a S.H.I.E.L.D uniform, was staring at the figure on the screen; this figure was standing in the driveway with a phone beside his ear.

Wanting to know who Skye was talking to, Sharon typed a few things on her keyboard as her finger pressed onto her earpiece.

In an instant, she heard two voices.

----------

[Brother... please help me...]

[Jade, are you okay? Are you injured? Tell me where you are.]

[I-i don't know where I am, I'm all alone...I can only see darkness...Brother...there are people here.]

[Jade, don't worry, I'll be there, I'll be there soon okay? Just wait for me.]

[...]

[...]

----------

Stunned at what she just heard, Sharon immediately traced the caller's location.

A few seconds later, the location of the caller appeared on her screen.

At that moment, the backdoor of the van opened as a handsome, but chillingly apathetic face, appeared.

Unable to comprehend what just happened, Sharon's mouth gaped.

However, she was woken up by a frigid voice.

"Where is Jade?" uttered Skye.

Feeling Skye's ferocious aura that was akin to an unchained behemoth, Sharon unknowingly answered.

"Hell's Kitchen, at the 2nd warehouse by the Hudson River."

Bang!

The sound of the door closing fiercely resounded, forcing Sharon to regain her senses.

"Wait, there are highly-likely to be at least 50 to 60 of the Hand's mercs in that place!" she shouted, opening the door only to see that Skye had already disappeared.

"How in the world...?" she muttered as she went back inside the van and called for reinforcement.

"This is Agent 13 calling in for back-up, we have a 'Hand' situation in the Hudson River. Please send the support there now, I'll meet them there."

**********

Meanwhile, Skye, who had already equipped the Coat of Midnight, was currently running in full speed, jumping about on different roofs.

At this moment, although Skye's head was shockingly calm and clear, his heart, on the other hand, was like an inferno that was burning in flames, furious to behold.

There was a saying in different myths and legends, a saying about a dragon's reverse scale—If it was ever touched, the dragon's terrifying wrath shall descend upon you.

"The Hand, you actually dared to touch this king's little sister?" muttered Skye, his eyes already turned into the golden Sharingan.

As Skye's figure disappeared into the darkness, the said ancient organization didn't know, they didn't know that the Demon King's wrath was about to descend!
