Mischievous Alice: The Eyes Of Hermes

Chapter 3 - The “Eyes of Hermes”

But Alice became more curious. She walked towards the last cart and her mother followed her. There, she picked up the glowing items. Two of the maids approached Alice as she picked them up and carried the items she took.

"Do you want those items, my dear? If so, let's ask your father. They may not…"

"Honey, we're done choosing. Let's go now to the head merchant to pay up."

Alex noticed the things the maids were carrying. "What are those?"

"It's a glowing coat, a glowing dagger, glowing books, and some glowing crystals." , Alice replied excitedly.

"Glowing? But...they're not glowing."

"They are! Look! There's golden dust scattered around and it has a faint light. Look closely."

Everyone looked but it seems they can't see what she sees.

"Hahahaha! My daughter's imagination is really impeccable!"

"Hmm…", Aquila pondered. "Why don't we buy them honey? They look old and dusty, I'm sure they won't cost that much. And Alice seems to like them."

"Hmmm...okay! Since its my beautiful daughter asking. Hahahaha!"

"Ugh, seriously.", Alex grunted. "That's why our finances are suffering, you're too kind!"

Alex continued reprimanding his mother and father while Alice was lost in thought as to why they can't see what she sees. After a few more bickering, they decided to buy it after all since they only cost less than a 100 gil each. The owner was practically giving it to them for free since no one wants them.

After buying lots of things, the family went home and examined the things they bought. They carefully prepared each items. Afterwards, they brought the items to their shop to sell for the next day. As for the things Alice bought, the maids cleaned them and to their surprise, it turned out to be a better item than before. Too much better to be precise.

"Ahhhh!", the maids in the laundry area screamed.

Cygnus was near the area at that time so he hurried over. Their butler followed him as well. "What happened?", he asked worriedly.

"Master, look!"

"I-isn't that?", the butler was very much in shock.

The maids hands were trembling as they hang the large furred coat. It was very dirty before, covered in thick dried mud, but after cleaning, it now looked very beautiful and elegant with a crest at the back. A very familiar crest.

"...the crest of the Hero."

"If that's what I think it is then that means…", Cygnus was bewildered as well. But he collected himself and approached the hanged coat.

"Fire!", he threw a ball of fire using his magic to the coat enough to engulf it but it didn't burn. "Ice!", still nothing happened."Wind!", sharp blades of winds but nothing happened. "Earth!", spikes of earth but still nothing happened. He tried swords, too but the coat was invulnerable. No scratches, nothing torn, no damage at all.

"Master, this means this is indeed the 'Hero's Coat'!"

The servants looked happy at the thought.

"Yes, it seems so...and we can definitely sell this at the highest price! And what of the other old items?"

"We cleaned them as well master and they all looked very different that what they were before."

"The dagger had the hero's crest as well.", followed the other maid.

"And the crystals too! They had insignia's inside! That means they're of high quality.", said the other.

"And the books?", he asked.

"They're ancient, master. Very antique. The mage's guild will definitely…"

Aquila arrived as she heard the commotion. "What's the matter my dear?"

"Honey, it seems that our daughter is gifted!"

"Huh?", Aquila was puzzled. "What gift?"

"All the items she picked at the caravan, turns out, they were all very precious items! The coat and the dagger belonged to the Hero and the crystals, the sage would definitely love them! And not to mention, the books were ancient!." Cygnus was overjoyed.

"Really? That's great!"

After their amazing discovery, Cygnus went to Alice and Alex to tell them what happened. Everyone became happy about the good news. On the next day, Cygnus quickly went to the merchant's guild to appraise the items and even the merchants were very surprised at their findings. They kept on asking where they got the items but Cygnus kept everything a secret and simply called it a blessing.

Only a few days passed and they were able to resell everything that they bought. To their surprise, they profited very much - twice profits for the items Cygnus picked, thrice for items Alex picked, and a whopping TEN THOUSAND FOLDS to the items Alice picked for they only bought it a 100 gil each but were able to sell it by 1 to 2 million gil EACH. With more money that they ever had before, they decided to reinvest some of the money. They waited for the next caravan and decided to take Alice again to help pick good items. And this time, they're definitely going to listen to all her choices. Hours passed and Alice finally made her pick. Among her choices was an old and rusty sword with dents on its blades. Her family was reluctant in getting the sword and even the merchant said it was trash but Alice insisted on taking it. With her being cute and all, the merchant gave it to her for free. After paying up, the family head home along with some of their servants and prepared the goods.

While everyone was busy, Alice sat on one corner and examined the rusty sword that she took. It was glowing the most among all the items she picked even though it was rusty and old looking.

"Hmmm….I wonder why this is shining brighter than the others?" she pondered. "It would have been great if I can appraise this like what the merchants do at the guild."

Tooot! Suddenly, a pop up window appeared in front of her. Alice was very much surprised at what happened. It was like a window screen you see in role playing games containing information about the sword that she was touching. She tried to touch the pop up window but it was like a hologram. She looked at her surroundings if anyone else can see it but it seems they don't again.

"Why am I the only one seeing weird things?" she said as she shrugged her shoulders. "Well anyways, at least now I know what this sword is. Hmmm…"

The pop up window notes the following.

"Hero's Divine Claymore"

The hero's divine claymore he used to defeat the demon king 100 years ago

Weapon Type: Claymore

Weapon Level: 100

Rank: S

Status: Corroded

Physical ATK: 10

Magic ATK: 10

Physical Dmg Reduction: 10

Magic Dmg Reduction: 10

Physical Affinity: 10

Magic Affinity: 10

"Hmm.. the stats are low but the weapon level is 100? Probably since its hero's sword...but still its old and rusty." she thought. "But why is it still glowing?"

A few more minutes of pondering passed by. Then, an idea suddenly came to her.

"Aha! If I can appraise it, then maybe I can refine it as well like the merchants!" she said delightedly. "Okay. Hero's Divine Claymore, Refine! Return to your former glory!"

A blinding light instantly came out from the sword. It was too bright that the whole mansion shined from the inside. Everyone in the house was almost blinded by the light.

"What's happening?" everyone chorused.

"Alice! Where are you? Are you alright?", worried her mother.

After a minute, the blinding light disappeared to reveal the sword floating and glowing in mid-air. It was very different from what it was a moment ago. The rust was no more and you can clearly see your face reflected on its smooth and thin blades that shone like it was made from diamonds or something more precious. The hero's crest can be seen at the top of the sword just below the handle. And the handle, oh, it was made in the shape of wings of gold with beautiful gems engraved into it. And the gems were not just any gems for inside, you can see insignias.

Everyone in the mansion was appalled of what just happened. They were left wondering what just happened and it was all because of this 3 year old little girl named "Alice".
