Monster Evolution

Mark broke off from the bindings and rushed towards the nearest hunter from his sight. The hunters who were tasked to defend were trying to intercept to block the attack as the target was a hunter who tried to bind Mark down. The Attack team was right behind them to counterattack after the attack was blocked. Everybody tried their best as not a single mistake could be afforded. Lives were on the line in this battle.

A hunter with a shield and hammer stood in between Mark and his target. This shields were not ordinary as it could block tons of force. The hunters also cultivated arts and techniques that would enhance their bodies.

In the hunters mind he was ready to take on the attack as he was the nearest. He placed his shield right in front of him reading himself from the impact.

[BOOM] He was knocked flying backwards into a building. He did not expect that the monster would have such incredible strength. Blood flowed from his mouth as his organs absorbed some of the force from the impact. He had a serious internal injury and his efficiency battling the monster would be affected but he still tried to recover and stand up as this monster would cause havoc if it were not stopped by them.

Everybody saw what happened and they concluded it was not good to fight in close combat they could only try in long distance attacks. The sniper fired again at Mark, it pierced his left wing and it was bleeding like a fountain. The sniper had large bullets that could blow up a human if were hit. But monsters had scales that could protect them. Monsters had different specialties and advantages. Their physique were not the same. Some had wings to fly and some could swim and breathe under water.

The attack squad were the most agile and they tried to aggro but they would only dodge and not confront the monster head on. They know that this monster was constantly powering up.

Mark saw that they were constantly baiting him and they would dodge and a volley of long range weapons would hit him. Mark was enraged of what they were doing. Right now it did not care if it were hit as he was on a berserk state and the only thing was to kill. It was a battle of endurance as the monster Mark did not have any plans on how to deal with them. In his mind was only, Kill.

Sometimes, they would have an opportunity to land a strike on Mark's back as he was preoccupied with the attack team. Three would confront him and one would take advantage. Buildings and houses were destroyed in the battle. Huge craters were formed were the battle would take place. They would constantly moved around and the attack team would go in circles trying to lead him away from populated areas. News of the battle was broadcasted on television and people around the continent knew the situation where hunters was fighting a monster nearing on an S Class Level.

Rose had suspicions that it could Mark and was unsure if it was him. She watched the battle happening on T.V as it was recorded live by a special camera that could capture long distance footage. The students had long gone back home as it was dangerous to stay in school. The battle could probably reach near the school and all the students may get caught by it.

On an helicopter that was travelling towards Everlast City, there sat a teenager who controlled fire as his weapon. He was briefed on what was happening, he did not expect things would escalate and the monster would not be binded by an A Class talisman.

They have really underestimated the monster and they were beginning to worry more and more each passing moment.

"Pilot, please hurry up and go faster. There is no more time to be spared." The boy was anxious as he was shocked a monster could absorb spirit energy from its surroundings. A special case like this was handle by him and contribution points would likely to be huge coming from this one.

It was nearing S Class in danger and killing a monster in S Class would receive commendation from the heads of the hunters. He may be scouted by the Church if his performance was extraordinary. He needed to do this and he did not want to fail. A big opportunity has presented itself to showcase his talents.

He was still a few miles off from the battle and the helicopter flew much faster than before increasing its speed and lessened its time as they were in a hurry.

The endurance and stamina of the hunters were steadily being worn down by Mark. One of the hunters was swiped his claws and flesh was ripped and blood flowed. He thought that he was safe from that swipe but he felt that the monster was gaining speed after each second. He miscalculated and he was severely injured. He immediately fell back and retreated as he could not fight anymore.

They employed guerilla tactics and it work well for quite some time but they could not do this forever. The swords they were using used to make blood flow from slashing into Mark's body but soon only they could pierce only 3 centimeters. They concluded his skin was hardening and speed was increasing. 'What a monster!'.

"It's getting nearer to an S Class!" shouted by a hunter.

This was getting dangerous and they could not hold this monster anymore and the city was endanger. The chief was contacting the Regional HQ for additional hunters as this monster was horrifying that it could absorb energy. All the surrounding hunters that were near and free were contacted to head towards Everlast city as there was an S Class Level Monster. It would take them an hour to arrive as the nearest was 80 kilometers. They were fast but they needed to run all the way if they wanted to hurry up and back up of what was remaining from the hunters in the city.

The teamwork of the hunters crumble downed and they were becoming inefficient in their attacks. Mistakes occurred one by one and one of the hunters was caught by Mark. He stabbed the hunter with his claws and he opened his mouth and directly ate the hunter.

Vast energy from human flesh were acc.u.mulating in his stomach, the formula started to work more faster than ever before. It seeped into every part of his body and the cells were gradually strengthening.

Everybody was horrified with what they saw. One of them had died from the monster and soon it could be one of them next. Fear was welling in each of them they started to falter one by one. They were afraid being the next target of the monster. They readied themselves to escape.

Their spirit energy were low and everybody who used gears and helmets to protect them used theirs to power and resist the attacks of Mark. Some items could use the surrounding energy while others directly use their own. Items would vary and some would be unique that it would take four people needed to activate it.

They started to make distance between them and Mark. They felt losing hope as this battle they were fighting was a losing one. Nobody wanted to die and they wanted to scramble and save their own asses.

The hunters would dodge and attack, they retreated every time they saw Mark was getting ready to launch an attack. In a few minutes, that elementalist would relieve some of their worries.

Soon, a helicopter flying landed near them in a building and came out a teenager with battle armor on him. He jumped from building to building reaching the battlefield.

Their savior had arrived and just on time. They would soon kill this monster and avenge their fallen comrade.

"Everybody listen up! I will cast a spell and I would need you guys to protect me. I could bring this monster down in one hit if I am successful. I would like everyone to do their best!"

Everybody knew how powerful and elementalists attacks could be. They were one of those who could easily battle monsters by themselves.

Seeing that a New Hunter arrived in front of Mark, He howled and everybody knew it was another soul attack. [HOWL SFX]

Mark bended his knees reading to burst forth sprinting towards the new hunter. His instincts were telling him that this person was dangerous.

On top of a building, The teenager saw that that Mark was coming fast towards him.

"Stop him at all cost, it would not take long afterwards after I complete absorbing and condensing this energy."

Spirit energy was being s.u.c.k.e.d into his lower energy center and it slowly travelled into his arms then into a ball of fire in between his palms. He was getting ready to launch a fireball towards Mark and this fireball was not an ordinary one.

The Defense team blocked Mark and the attack team was right behind them giving support. All sorts of weapons were used and snipers from afar felt their bullets were not longer working.

Every hunter gritted their teeth as victory was near they had to give it their all.
