Monster Evolution

It was still afternoon when Mark transformed. Classes were ongoing and there was silence throughout the school. Nobody knew what had occurred at the rooftop.

All of a sudden, [SONIC BOOM SFX] there was ear-breaking bang that shocked the whole school. Glasses were broken because of the powerful force that came from the wings of the transformed Mark.

Everybody thought there was a bomb that detonated within the school grounds. All the teachers shouted at the students to remain calm as they will assess the situation.

"Students! Please, Remain calm and form a line and use the emergency exits. The Fire department will shortly be here."

At the rooftop, cracks were made on the floor as Mark transformed into something heavy coupled with the fact that his take off made a huge boom and the floor slightly withstood it.

Rose was alarmed of what was happening. She felt all the energy in the area being s.u.c.k.e.d at the rooftop. She thought there was something happening and it resulted into that huge boom. It was not normal and she could not say that it was a bomb.

She saw something flying in the horizon quickly disappearing. One thing that crossed her mind was 'Monster'.

She felt that this monster was kind of rather odd because she could not identify what kind it was. It looked like a dragon but there was some unique differentiations if you would compare the two. Mark had bloodshot eyes but dragon's eyes are golden or green.

She glanced around trying to find Mark and she did not see him. He realized that it could be Mark that was flying earlier. But there are lots of possibilities and He couldn't have rushed to his death with his transformation. "What is that fool thinking!?"

In broad daylight, he transformed leaving Rose at the school shaking her head. 'What a suicidal thing he has done."

In Everlast City Hunter Headquarters.

"I want everybody to come to the meeting room, RIGHT NOW!" Chief of the hunters.

"What's going on Chief?". Everybody who rushed towards the room all had the same question.

"We've received a report that there was an unknown monster that was spotted flying near a school in Location XXYY."

In the headquarters everyone knew that monsters would not likely to show up in daylight especially at the city where many people can see. They thought that it would be a strong one that showed up this time.

Everybody was getting ready and they equipped all the necessary things that they would use during the battle.

"We have contacted the Regional Headquarters for backup as things may get a little messy this time. We have explained to them that this unidentified monster is likely to be dangerous. This monster could be an S class or much higher." The chief said.

Everybody took a deep breath, they were inwardly shocked of what they may encounter and they could lose their lives this time. If it was some identified monster then they would be confident to kill it. Knowing one's enemy would be easier than an unknown one.

"The one who is being sent here is an elementalist. He uses the nature of fire. The RHQ told us to support him as he still young and inexperienced but they said he could handle the situation. There is only 10% chance in encountering an S class or higher." The chief was sure was it was a great boost towards their overall combat power. They needed all the help they could get to get a better end result. They strived to keep everybody alive.

If they would lose this battle then the city could be destroyed and the city would become food for the monsters. The one being sent here was on par with an A class monster. He was also an elementalist and in the same rank. The elementalist would unlikely lose to a monster except if he was ambushed or the monster has special abilities during the fight.

The city was put on full alert and they activated the Spiritual Dome that could entrap a monster of an S class level. Everybody looked at every direction to find the monsters location. Everyone peeled their eyes not to miss anything.

At this time, Mark was flying following the scent of Ryan. He still remembered how smelled and in his transformed state he was in a berserk state. In his mind was to kill and eat. He could not fight as he have lost consciousness inside his soul. The orb was glowing much brighter, it turned much more redder as it s.u.c.k.e.d all the surrounding energy.

The Hunter squads was patiently waiting and after some time they found where Mark was. They immediately called all the hunters over and strategically planned what they would do. The elementalist was not here yet as they could only stall the monster for a bit.

They planned to enraged the monster and lure it into a much more less populated area to avoid casualties.

The hunter squads brought a AWM sniper rifle with specialized bullets for monsters. The sniper loaded silver bullets to test if it could be it's weakness. He positioned and took aim point his rifle towards mark. Even with Mark's speed the hunter was clearly trained to handle all sorts of situations.

Everybody was waiting for the signal to attack. Every draw swords and guns that was specialized to handle monsters. Everybody took out their talismans for defense as this monster may use spiritual energy based attacks on them.

The hunter squad was ready to take action, all they needed was the signal and order to rush towards the monster in front of them.

"Go!" the chief ordered.

The sniper pulled the trigger and with his calculation the bullet pierced into Mark's left shoulder. Mark was shot down from sky and he was falling from 4000 ft. Many civilians were ordered to evacuate the area where Mark was falling to. They would be endangered and possibly be eaten.

Every one of the hunters were tense meeting this unknown foe. No one had any experience facing this type of monster.

Mark fell into a house and it was instantly destroyed. Planks of wood splintered, exploding into bits and was thrown up into the air. There was a large crater where Mark fell.

The Hunters immediately encircled Mark and casted a talisman that could bind him. The talisman did not activate instantaneously, it took time for it to work. It only needed seconds but it could give the monster enough time to recover from the fall. The hunters were divided into teams that supported each other. There were those would bind, attack and defend. They were organized into groups to have maximum efficiency.

It looked like Mark was slowly being binded but Mark suddenly got up and stared at the hunters. His transformed state howled so loud that ears would start to bleed. Luckily, everybody was ready as monsters would use howls to make its enemies into confusion. As their howls could cause dizziness which directly pierce the soul. A howl could injure them but they had countermeasures since humans have been battling monsters for a long time.

They were shocked that the howl had a soul attack. If their gear would destroyed then they would be left unprotected by any surprise attack by the monster.

The binding was almost complete and Mark struggled to get loose. They were nervous that something would go wrong and they give it all their best and attention.

Only seconds have passed but it made them feel it was an hour that has gone by. Beads of sweat were forming in their foreheads and soon the monster would be binded. They could then slowly attack the monster safely.

5 seconds were left as the process would soon end. They hoped nothing would go wrong. Soon the Elementalist would arrive and the situation would be under control. They could then burn this creature before them.

But they never thought that something so unbelievable would happen. They looked at the monster as it was getting fiercer. They suddenly felt that the surrounding area was becoming dry. The binding talisman used spiritual energy in the area and Mark was s.u.c.k.i.n.g it all and he was becoming stronger each moment.

The talisman was gradually losing power and it could not withstood the power of the monster as it struggled. Everybody knew that things were going south and they have enraged it further. The defense squad were ready to hold the monster to stall for time for the elementalist to come.

"Everyone it is getting stronger every passing second as its absorbing all the energy around it. This is the first case that a monster could absorb directly spiritual energy into its body. It is a special case. This monster would soon become S Class. We have to kill it now!" One of the hunters said. As he was one of those that casted the talisman and he felt that it was losing energy.
