Monster Evolution

Mark parent's came back after a few days of travelling. He was immediately summoned by them. He was summoned into a room where they were waiting for him.

He had already predicted what was going to happen. He was ready and he also needed a lot of answers from his parents. He thought this was it and he would now know who he truly is. Mark didn't know that he came from the Rift and his origins were still unknown.

Suki and Hugo sat there and looked at Mark as he walked and sat in front of them. They detected that Mark have already learned how to suppress his energy. They were surprised as to how the kid have managed to suppress the energy. They both have the same thoughts and reactions as Steven.

Hugo suddenly lunged forward so fast that Mark was surprised. Hugo actioned that he wanted strangle Mark's neck but Mark was unbelievable. He managed to see through the movements of Hugo and evaded by a hair.

All were surprised at Mark as he had shown them what he could do. It was not a monster who has just awaken recently. They were inwardly shocked at the sudden display of skill. They wanted to test his reaction and he made it look like a walk in the park.

Mark origins is truly terrifying if he could show this when he just awakened. What person could have birthed such monstrosity. Mark was talented and gifted. They concluded that his physique was above everybody that had just awoken. But he still lacked in comparison as Hugo didn't use his full power earlier. It was just a test but 5% of his speed was not someone who could easily dodge by a beginner.

"Dad! Why are you attacking me!?" Mark said scowling.

Mark thought they wanted to kill him or was it just another test? 'The latter is possible because I'm their son. They wouldn't just kill me!'

"Relax, I'm just testing your abilities." Hugo said smilingly. He inward praised Mark for his actions. This kid could probably survive on his own in the future.

"You should have said sooner." Mark replied grumply.

Mark wondered where his parents have been as they were gone for many days. So he asked them about it. "Where have you guys been?"

Hugo and Suki didn't answer him immediately. They instead told him that they were about to tell him something that would change the rest of his life.

"We're going to tell you something important". Suki said softly.

Mark know what they were going to say. That he was a monster and so was them. So he interrupted and said. "I'm a monster right?"

"Yes. You must have felt that something was wrong with your body and we've also prepared human meat down below which you had already eaten. Steven has checked it and there was nothing left." Hugo replied.

"So I'm also a werewolf like you guys right?". Mark curiously asked.

Hugo and Suki could not answer him as they didn't even know what he was. He came from the Rift and the King also didn't even know what Mark was.

Seeing as they were not answering him, Mark was confused. They had a look on their face that said they didn't know. Mark didn't asked again as he perceived it as they didn't know.

"We are not your real parents. You were left off somewhere and we were given the orders to raise and guard you." Hugo said.

It struck Mark why when he awakened that the voice told him he was a Dragon. So there was a possibility that he was a dragon coming from draconic continent, Mark thought.

Hugo and Suki could not tell Mark for now that he came from the Dark Rift as it was the most dangerous place on the continent. Mark would have to wait to enter before he became a terrifying existence.

Mark took it the wrong way and thought he was a dragon. It would have been cool for him to become a werewolf but a dragon was so much better. Mark did not inquire more and attentively listened to the both of them.

"We will give you a scroll containing a scripture that has been handed down through generations. It one of the most valuable things and you must take care of it and not lose it. You must not ever show this to somebody other than yourself." Hugo said it as if it was life or death.

Hugo passed the scroll containing one of the most valuable formulas that ever existed. Every monster would not pass on the opportunity to learn what was written inside. But they could never betray their master. A flick of his finger and they would be dead.

After receiving the scroll, Mark headed back towards his room. He imagined on the way that his life would change from this day on. He would soar becoming a dragon from a fish. He was excited at the moment and could not help wanting to try out what was inside.

He opened the door of his room and sat at his bed. He opened the scroll and baleful aura shot out from it. He was scared of what just happened. The resentment of the vengeful spirits that had been used and practiced by the scroll was acc.u.mulating and even the future it would get denser and denser. This scroll was one of the most ancient. Nobody knows how much people have died for the benefit of the user.

Mark readed what was written firstly at the top. He remembered that it was similar to the basic physique absorbing and suppressing formula. He had already identified what was different and he was shocked when he tried it out that it was better than the basic one.

Mark was still served with human meat cooked and plated by a chef. He felt more comfortable with it than eating from cauldron. The spiritual energy that he absorbed from the flesh was acc.u.mulating from his stomach.

He circulated it all over his body and thought that soon he would feel that his body was bulging and he felt even more lighter. This must be an improvement he thought. He read more and more until he reached a certain point on how to concentrate energy on the legs.

Mark was overjoyed when he saw this. Spiritual energy could be converted into ones body to have more endurance and strengthen every part of it. He saw this as way to increase his speed. Mark still didn't know that he was still lacking in many aspects.

He needed to improve his spiritual energy center to increase in the load of how much he could hold. Having a bigger tank would always be beneficial if you wanted to store more. You could last much longer than the others.

Humans have innately low capacity to hold spirit energy but have the talent to increase it. Monsters are instead the opposite they have already innately big capacity but they could not directly absorb spirit energy from heaven and earth. Monsters could be considered as beast that had gained sentience. Animals could also produce energy for monsters to feed on them as they feed on smaller animals or plants in the food chain.

Monsters have also have the ability to transform and it increases their physique two-fold when they transform. Their energy tank would also double in size and because of that they would always be hungry in need of energy. Monsters and humans have their own disadvantages.

Humans would never be always hungry as they have cultivation manuals that teaches them how to efficiently control energy and exert it in a much simpler way than what monster's do. Monsters would use energy excessively but they would always have the stamina to outlast a human expert.

But humans would always try to improve and they have discovered that they can use the spiritual energy into converting it into nature energy in the elements. They would then use fire, water , metal and wood.

This discovery led them to another advantage as some monsters are afraid of some elements.

Mark decided to concentrate the spirit energy towards his legs. The energy seeped in right through his bones like what the scroll said. He focused as hard as he could because it not that easy as he expected it. He felt that the energy was lacking for him to directly strengthen the bones of his legs.

He really needed to consume a lot. There were many people in the city but he thought about how innocent they were and did not want to kill them.

There were still energy remaining and he did not try again focusing it on his legs instead spreaded out in his body. He now know that it was not easy to power up shortly. Miracles rarely happen in real life, he thought. He must strive and work hard to improve but he need to kill somebody to become stronger.
