༺ My House Has Become a Filming Set! – 3 ༻

For Lee Yeonwoo, the bedroom was a sacred place. Not in a sexual sense, but literally sacred.

After scrubbing his dirty body clean, it’s where he wrapped up a tough day and went to sleep, and where he would start anew when the sun rose.

Lie on the bed in outdoor clothes? Climb onto the blankets with socks on? These were absolutely unthinkable, things that should never happen.

No matter how dirty his home was, even if it resembled a pigsty, he maintained his bedroom immaculately. He swept and wiped it every day until not a speck of dust was visible, and if he spotted a strand of hair on the floor, it was immediately vacuum duty.

He was truly grateful for that. That Lee Yeonwoo had a conscience. If he were to shove a guest into a dirty room, he would be overwhelmed with guilt, regardless of anything else.

“You can stay here, hyung. Please feel free to let me know if you need anything.”

  “Thank you.”

While Kang Do-jun was unpacking in the bedroom, Lee Yeonwoo hastily cleaned the living room. It seemed that the staff were setting up a few small cameras throughout the house, but he had no time to pay attention to it.

He gathered the dishes, stacked them in the sink, and moved all the scattered clothes and other items aimlessly lying around to his workspace, which would serve as his sleeping area for a while. It was more of a hiding action than a cleaning one, but he was quite satisfied with the result.

Just in time, Kang Do-jun finished unpacking. Lee Yeonwoo asked with sparkling eyes.

  “Hyung! Have you had lunch?”

Whether it was his clinginess or his way with words, if Lee Yeonwoo had a puppy’s tail, it would have surely been wagging uncontrollably.

For an ordinary person, the sudden invasion of cameras would be overwhelming, but Lee Yeonwoo showed no signs of discomfort.

During his time on the deep-sea fishing boat, his YouTube friend would incessantly thrust the camera in his face whether he was sleeping or eating. Thus, he had become quite accustomed to cameras.

  “Not yet.”

“I’ll prepare something for you. Just a moment, please.”

Upon hearing Lee Yeonwoo’s words, Kang Do-jun glanced at PD Han Taegu, who was standing at a distance. Han Taegu nodded, seemingly pleased with the current scenes, and did not impose any restrictions.

Yeonwoo, who had declared he would prepare food, did not go to the kitchen but was, for some reason, putting on his shoes.

  “Where are you going?”

“I’m going to get side dishes from Granny Soon-Yi. She’s making stir-fried pork today. What kind of soup do you like? Bone soup? Bean sprout soup? Seaweed soup?”

Yeonwoo seemed to have memorized the lunch menu of the village residents. Kang Do-jun answered awkwardly.

  “Anything is fine.”

“Alright, I’ll be back soon. Please relax and take a seat.”

Yeonwoo vanished before Kang Do-jun could even attempt to stop him.

After Yeonwoo disappeared, Do-jun was not the only one left stunned. All the staff members present looked bewildered.

Kang Do-jun, who had been acting since high school, didn’t have a moment to himself as he worked in various fields such as dramas and movies since he became famous at the age of twenty through a certain drama.

He needed a break, so he agreed to participate in this healing variety show in the countryside for ten days after some consideration. However, for some reason, he had a bad feeling about it.

When he first looked inside the house, he wondered if there was a dog. Perhaps the pet took advantage of the absence of its owner and wreaked havoc?

However, after seeing the bottles of alcohol rolling on the floor, he withdrew that assumption. Obviously, because dogs do not drink alcohol.

Fortunately, the room he was to stay in looked clean, which put him at ease.

After Yeonwoo left, he slowly looked around the house. Contrary to the first impression, it seemed tidied up during his absence.

He heard that the guy was twenty-five, but there was no way to know how a young man, at the prime age for dating, ended up living in this countryside.

Seeing him working hard on his own at such a young age, he didn’t seem to be just a naive and pure lad…

From their first meeting, Yeonwoo was calling him “Hyung,” and considering he didn’t tidy up the house well, Kang Do-jun thought he might just be living without any particular concerns.

  ‘Sigh…’

Kang Do-jun sighed internally. It was as if a storm had swept through. If he had known it would be like this, he would have preferred to just rest at his own house without any schedule for ten days. Regret washed over him.

Even while thinking this, his feet were obediently moving towards the kitchen.

Having lived alone for about five years, apart from his time in the military after becoming an adult, it wouldn’t be wrong to call Kang Do-jun a professional bachelor, a housekeeper.

He couldn’t just mooch off the person he’d be relying on for the next ten days.

While Yeonwoo went to get side dishes and soup, Do-jun planned to at least set the table. However, upon entering the kitchen, he was lost for words.

Dishes were piled up in the sink.

‘I guess I have to start with washing the dishes…’

Kang Do-jun put on the rubber gloves next to him, but they were too small and tightly fit his hands. Eventually, he threw the gloves off and silently started washing the dishes barehanded. The camera caught every moment of this.

After a while, as Kang Do-jun was finishing up the dishes and was wiping the water around the sink,

  “Child, granny is here!”

Hearing a voice from outside, he went out to see an elderly woman taking off her shoes in front of the front door.

Question marks filled Kang Do-jun’s mind.

  ‘I thought he lived alone…’

The granny, who was taking off her shoes, was also startled by the cameras scattered around the house and the unfamiliar faces.

“Oh my, I heard there was a shooting from Seoul, but it turned out to be our child’s house.”

  “Hello, I’m Kang Do-jun.”

“Oh, really? My, you are handsome. But where did that Yeonwoo run off to, leaving a guest behind?”

The grumbling old lady naturally moved into the house.

Kang Do-jun looked at PD Han Taegu. Even Han Taegu, who was told that Yeonwoo lived alone, seemed a bit taken aback by the sudden appearance of the grandmother.

“Don’t you want something to eat?”

The grandmother who came into the living room asked Kang Do-jun. No matter how he thought about it, she seemed to be Yeonwoo’s grandmother.

  “No, I’m fine.”

“Is that so? Then, excuse me.”

The grandmother headed to the kitchen as she was, naturally opened the refrigerator door, took out the various bottles of alcohol displayed, and packed them neatly in a black plastic bag.

It wasn’t just one or two bottles; various kinds of alcohol came out one after another as she reached out.

“This child, thinking this place is a supermarket, a supermarket!”

The grandmother, speaking bluntly, quickened her pace of packing the alcohol. After packing everything into the black plastic bag, her eyes widened at the sight of the shiny, empty sink.

“Huh? The sink is completely empty for once? I guess he did the dishes because a guest is coming. Still, our child isn’t entirely hopeless, right?”

  “… Yes.”

Watching the grandmother smiling proudly at her grandchild, Kang Do-jun couldn’t bring himself to say that he was the one who did it.

“Well, I’ll be going then, have fun. Oh, and don’t tell that Yeonwoo brat that I came and went. He gets nasty over little things, and if he hears I came, he’ll be jumping around like a puppy.”

“Won’t you have lunch with us?”

“Nah, I have to eat at my place. Plus, I’m going to the village community center. You guys eat first.”

The grandmother, holding the black bag full of alcohol, left leisurely.

‘Does she live separately even though they’re in the same village?’

No matter what, it seemed like Yeonwoo was not fully mature, trying to prevent his own grandmother from visiting the house.

Kang Do-jun headed back to the kitchen as they had to have lunch anyway.

Fortunately, there was rice in the cooker, so after scooping a generous amount, he took out the dining table and set it in the living room. He opened the fridge hoping there might be other side dishes, but it was empty. It seemed the only items in the fridge were the bottles of alcohol the grandmother had taken earlier.

He took out the cutlery and almost finished setting the table when, with perfect timing, Yeonwoo arrived with some side dishes.

“Hyung! I’m here. Uh…, I was going to set this up.”

“It’s fine. Also, I used the sink for a bit.”

Yeonwoo couldn’t hide his surprise at the sight of the neatly cleaned sink.

“I’m sorry, Hyung. I should have cleaned up, I made you go through the trouble.”

“I’ll be indebted to you for a while, so I should help with house chores.”

  “Still, I feel so sorry.”

As soon as Yeonwoo said that, he carelessly dumped the bags containing the side dishes onto the floor. Kang Do-jun watched these actions closely.

“This is Soon-Yi Grandma’s stir-fried pork, Cheolsoo’s Aunt’s rolled omelette and stir-fried anchovies, and here’s Beom’s Grandpa’s seaweed soup. Why are you staring like that?”

  “No, …let’s eat.”

“Oh, you dropped honorifics? You must feel more comfortable with me now?”

  “… A little.”

It felt as if he had a younger brother that he didn’t have before. Kang Do-jun picked up the bags scattered on the floor and quietly arranged them.

  “Let’s eat.”

The meal started, and while eating, Yeonwoo cheerfully spoke to Kang Do-jun.

“Hyung, isn’t the stir-fried pork a bit salty?”

  “It’s fine?”

“That’s strange, is it just me…. This is perfect for drinking.”

With that, Yeonwoo abruptly stood up from his seat. All of this was a build-up to drinking alcohol.

Yeonwoo headed straight to the kitchen, opened the fridge door, and let out a surprised exclamation.

  “Where did everything go!?”

Kang Do-jun swallowed the food in his mouth, got up from his seat, and headed towards the source of the sound in the kitchen.

“Hyung! Where did all the alcohol that was here go? It was definitely here!”

“The grandmother came earlier and took it?”

The grandmother’s request not to tell Yeonwoo about her visit was impossible to fulfill under the current circumstances.

  “What did you say?”

At Kang Do-jun’s words, Yeonwoo’s eyes widened as he looked around the house. He checked the ceiling drawers, the drawers under the sink, the fridge, and even the freezer thoroughly, and then he vented his frustration.

“Ah! That senile granny, she even took the stuff I had hidden!”

The phrase that even mentioning the grandmother’s visit would set Yeonwoo off like a rabid dog was not at all wrong.

Unable to control his anger, Yeonwoo was running all over the place.

Watching such a spectacle, Kang Do-jun decided to give a little tough love, even though they were on camera, and opened his mouth.

“Still, you shouldn’t call your grandmother senile. Especially since she’s your own grandmother.”

At Kang Do-jun’s reprimand, Yeonwoo shouted with his eyes almost rolled back in his head.

“My own grandmother passed away a long time ago!”

  “… Huh?”

Then, who was the grandmother earlier…?
