༺ My House Has Become a Filming Set! – 4 ༻

In the oddly unfolding situation, eventually PD Han Taegu stepped in.

“But Yeonwoo, an elderly woman just came by and took all the alcohol. We naturally assumed she was your grandmother… Then, who was she?”

“Ah, that’s Granny Kyeongyi from the next door. She always comes to my house to take it because she finds it too bothersome to go to the mart.”

Kang Do-jun, Han Taegu, and the rest of the staff wore ambiguous expressions that couldn’t be described.

‘Is this the so-called rural charm…or something?’

“Damn, it looks like I ended up donating alcohol to the village hall again.”

Lee Yeonwoo grumbled in an annoyed tone and sat back down at the table.

Kang Do-jun also sat back down, following Lee Yeonwoo with a shaky expression. Even while eating, he kept an eye on Lee Yeonwoo’s actions.

It seemed that Lee Yeonwoo’s appetite had faded, as he was only picking at his rice.

Despite being at home, a sense of guilt washed over Kang Do-jun for watching the grandmother confidently take the alcohol without stopping her.

“I’m sorry, I’ll replace the alcohol that’s gone.”

  “Huh? You mean, you?”

“Yeah. It’s also my fault for just standing by.”

He should have asked more carefully about the relationship between the grandmother and Lee Yeonwoo.

Lee Yeonwoo gave Kang Do-jun a lingering look.

He was handsome, modest, courteous, had a good personality, and he had even cleaned up the dishes without making a fuss about it.

‘Is there anything this man lacks?’

Regaining his senses, Lee Yeonwoo shook his head in refusal.

“No, it’s okay. It’s only natural you didn’t know. You did nothing wrong.”

“…Should I clear up if you’re not going to eat anymore?”

“Ah, I’ll clean it up. You stay seated.”

Lee Yeonwoo picked up his own bowl, which had only a few spoonfuls left, and Kang Do-jun’s empty bowl, stood up, and started to clean up.

After a few movements, Lee Yeonwoo lay straight on the living room floor without even digesting, claiming everything was cleaned up. It seemed he preferred lying down to sitting.

He had only moved the dishes from the table and had not even wiped the table. Kang Do-jun had no choice but to get up and head to the kitchen to get a dishcloth.

Then he saw all the dishes they had just used piled up in the sink.

  ‘…Should I do the dishes?’

He glanced at Lee Yeonwoo, who was lying in the living room and gradually closing his eyes, and silently started to wash the dishes without saying anything.

  * * *

PD Han Taegu approached Lee Yeonwoo, who was half asleep, and gently woke him up.

  “Mr. Yeonwoo, Mr. Yeonwoo.”

  “Huh, yes?”

“Please come outside for a moment.”

Lee Yeonwoo rubbed his sleepy eyes with his hand and obediently followed Han Taegu outside.

Han Taegu led Lee Yeonwoo to the back where there were no cameras and conveyed what he wanted to tell him.

“In the afternoon, could you please introduce Do-jun to the geography of the village? And… I heard that you’re a beekeeper, is it possible for us to experience beekeeping?”

It was definitely a detail that was written on the schedule he had skimmed through.

With hard experiences like catching wasps and finding queen bees in mind, Lee Yeonwoo thought of Kang Do-jun.

‘Right, he prepared food and even did the dishes. I shouldn’t push him too hard.’

With the intention of simply letting Kang Do-jun taste some honey and end it there, Lee Yeonwoo nodded.

  “I’ll do that.”

Lee Yeonwoo went back into the house to find Kang Do-jun. After finishing the dishes, Kang Do-jun was folding the table legs. Yeonwoo rushed to stop him.

“Just leave it be, I can clean it up.”

Kang Do-jun, who usually studied scripts and figured out the characters’ personalities and characteristics, had already figured out Lee Yeonwoo’s personality, even though they had only met a few hours ago.

  ‘I can clean it up.’

This was probably a habit of his. Kang Do-jun responded casually to Yeonwoo’s words while he finished folding the table legs and put the table back in its place.

“It’s okay, I’m bored just standing still.”

“Then, should I show you around the village?”

Kang Do-jun thought for a moment, then agreed and started to prepare to go out.

It was written in the schedule, and there wouldn’t be much to show if he stayed in the house all day, so it was likely that PD Han Taegu had hinted to Lee Yeonwoo to say that to him.

“This is a clinic, the only one in this village. If you’re sick, you come here. Over there, there’s a police box. And if you need a big supermarket, you have to go to the next village.”

It was a rural village made up entirely of houses, not apartments. In fact, Kang Do-jun was a bit surprised.

  ‘Don’t you lock it?’

  ‘Ah, there’s nothing to steal.’

They locked the doors with keys, not by inputting a password, and they didn’t even bother to lock them properly.

There was nothing to steal, but just a while ago, a woman called Granny Kyung stole alcohol and caused a ruckus.

“This is the village hall. Everyone is probably gathering there by now, want to go in?”

Lee Yeonwoo moved with determination and opened the door to the village hall.

  “I’m here.”

“Oh my, isn’t this nap time for our slacker? What brings you here?”

“What do you mean nap? When have I ever done that?”

There was a camera in front of them, and Kang Do-jun, whose likability was skyrocketing in real-time from Lee Yeonwoo’s perspective, was also present. He naturally bypassed any conversation that could potentially tarnish his dignity.

Taking a step back, he introduced Kang Do-jun to everyone.

“This gentleman is actor Kang Do-jun, who will be staying at my house for a while.”

A lady known as Aunty Cheolsoo made a fuss and approached them.

“Oh my! I was planning to invite Yeonwoo for dinner today, but now I see why he couldn’t come. I’m a big fan of your drama, could I possibly ask for an autograph?”

  “Thank you. Of course….”

“Aunty, don’t make hyung uncomfortable. Ouch!”

“Yeonwoo, really, when have I ever made you uncomfortable? Right?”

Lee Yeonwoo grumbled after getting smacked on the back.

“Well, you should give autographs to everyone here then.”

Everyone at the village hall was looking at Kang Do-jun as if he was a curiosity.

“I’m fine with it. I’ll give you autographs.”

“Oh, how embarrassing. Then, could you please sign this one for me?”

When Aunty Cheolsoo blushed and handed over a piece of paper, the others in the village hall quietly stood up and lined up with their own pieces of paper.

Kang Do-jun diligently worked his hand at the impromptu autograph session.

The variety show he is currently filming is “Country Occupation”. It wouldn’t hurt to be a little kind and become friends with the villagers quickly.

Still, he felt grateful towards Lee Yeonwoo who had tried to deflect the villagers’ attention. Despite appearing indifferent to what others did, he seemed to know how to consider others more than expected.

While focusing on signing, Lee Yeonwoo, who had been next to him, had disappeared from his sight. Kang Do-jun looked up and searched around for Lee Yeonwoo.

Then, he witnessed a naughty hand stealthily reaching for the packets of snacks placed in the village hall.

An old man who had been sitting hit Lee Yeonwoo’s hand.

“Yonseok! These snacks are sparse because of you. Stop stealing!”

“It’s for the alcohol, the price of the alcohol. You drank alcohol here, right? That was all my alcohol.”

“What the hell! Why is it your alcohol? It’s the alcohol of the village hall!”

“Why don’t you ask Grandma Kyeongyi? Anyway, I’m taking my alcohol payment.”

Lee Yeonwoo crammed the snacks into his pocket until it was bursting, and then he rushed over to Kang Do-jun, snatched the paper he was holding, returned it to its owner, and urgently urged him.

“Hyung, stop signing and let’s go quickly.”

Ignoring the scolding coming from behind, he grabbed Kang Do-jun’s wrist and led him away.

They left the village hall and walked down a quiet road. Lee Yeonwoo shyly pulled out the stolen snacks and stuffed them into his mouth.

  “Do you want some, hyung?”

  “I’m good.”

He didn’t insist a second time. In fact, he had lost his appetite earlier and left some food, so he was starting to feel hungry.

Thus, he kept snacking and humming a tune until they arrived at a beekeeping farm. Lee Yeonwoo, who was excited about working his main job, looked more lively than before.

“Hyung, this is honey that I’ve harvested myself. Would you like to try some? It’s fragrant acacia honey. I harvested it myself.”

Lee Yeonwoo scooped a spoonful of honey and held it out to him.

  ‘I don’t like sweet things….’

Kang Do-jun hesitated a bit, but it was hard to resist the sparkling eyes, so he took a bite.

  “How is it?”

  “It’s delicious.”

Elated by his words, Lee Yeonwoo distributed a taste of honey to everyone present – from the PD Han Taegu, to the cameraman, VJ, and all the staff members.

“This is honey I harvested myself. I did.”

He had been overly emphasizing the fact that he harvested it himself.

“Well, that’s probably why it’s so tasty.”

“It’s 30,000 won per kilogram, but if you buy 2 kilograms, I can give it to you for 55,000 won.”

…It seemed that he was distributing it to sell it. Was the reason he looked more energetic than before because he was thinking about making money?

Upon realizing Lee Yeonwoo’s cute intentions, Kang Do-jun laughed softly. Lee Yeonwoo, who was straightforward, free-spirited, considerate of others more than he appeared, felt somewhat cute.

He thought that this relaxed rural life for the next ten days wouldn’t be too bad.

While Lee Yeonwoo was hustling, Kang Do-jun quietly approached and tapped his shoulder.

  “I’ll buy it.”

Upon hearing Kang Do-jun’s words, the pupils, darker than those of ordinary people, moved their gaze towards him.

“Huh? You, Hyung? How much do you want?”

With a corner of his mouth turned up in a crooked smile, Kang Do-jun replied.

  “As much as you have.”

  Listening

As an afternote, it’s said that each of the staff members held a jar of honey in their hands when they returned home after the shooting.

  * * *

While tasting the honey was delightful, PD Han Taegu expressed his wish to capture the essence of beekeeping on camera, and so Kang Do-jun and Lee Yeonwoo ended up participating in a honey bee experience.

Before leaving, Lee Yeonwoo handed Kang Do-jun the only insect repellent hat they had, as well as a pair of rubber gloves. Kang Do-jun was his valued guest, and he needed to be treated with utmost courtesy.

“The gloves are a bit small.”

“You still have to wear them. Otherwise, you’ll get stung.”

  “You don’t need them?”

Waving a smoke generator made of Artemisia (used to calm bees), Lee Yeonwoo spoke confidently.

“I just need this. Because I’m an expert.”

While several cameras were capturing them from a distance, Lee Yeonwoo made sure that Kang Do-jun was following him closely.

No matter what happened, Lee Yeonwoo had vowed to protect his important guest, Kang Do-jun.

He kindly explained as he lifted the lid of the bee hive to show the interior.

“Hyung, look at this. This is the bee frame, and all these guys here are honey bees… Oh, shit.”

Suddenly, a honey bee flew over and stung Lee Yeonwoo’s hand before dropping dead.

Lee Yeonwoo, who was about to curse out of habit, swallowed his words when he noticed the camera that had approached him. He claimed to be a professional in front of Kang Do-jun and the camera, and now he felt embarrassed…

  “Are you okay?”

  “Huh? What?”

  “Weren’t you just stung?”

“Not at all? Anyway, Hyung, it’s dangerous. Please stay behind.”

Kang Do-jun tilted his head. He was sure that Lee Yeonwoo had just been stung, but the latter claimed he wasn’t. He was unsure whether he had seen it wrong.

Meanwhile, Lee Yeonwoo was fiercely blowing smoke with his smoke generator, his eyes wide as he tried to locate the hive of the bee that had stung him.

‘Alright, third bee hive, you guys are on my hit list. I’ll scrape every bit of honey from your frames.’

As if sensing his thoughts, another honey bee flew over and stung Lee Yeonwoo’s hand, giving its life in the process.

This scene was perfectly captured by a camera that had zoomed in to get a detailed shot of the bees.

Having tolerated once, Lee Yeonwoo couldn’t hold back the second time and murmured softly. However, the high-quality microphone recorded his words without missing a single syllable.

  “Damn it, really.”
