After eating, Xiang went to the kitchen to do the dishes, while Suho was sitting in the living room, working. While Xiang was washing the dishes, he was daydreaming about the days to come, together with Suho. He thought about how they would spend the weekends together, cuddling on the bed during winter and having a baby together. “I wonder if Suho wants a boy or a girl? How about both!” said Xiang and laughed.

Coincidentally, Suho came into the kitchen. He leaned on the wall with his arms folded and asked, “What are you dreaming about?”

“Oh! when did you get here?”

“Just now. Do you want me to help you?”

“This is the last one. I’ll be finished in about a minute.”

Just when he finished that question, the doorbell rang. Both jumped for a second. They looked at each other and figured out both had no idea of who it might be, that also during twilight. The doorbell rang for the second time. Suho decided to go and look through the peephole and asked Xiang to stay in the kitchen just in case. Suho came running to the kitchen and grabbed Xiang by his shoulders and shook him.

“IT’S MY STEPMOTHER!!!!”

“WHAT! WHAT’S SHE DOING HERE AT THIS TIME?!”

Suho immediately shut Xiang’s mouth with his hand and whispered, “Don’t shout. More than knowing what she’s doing here, the important thing now is that I should be the only person in this house, according to her. You have to go and hide somewhere.”

Xiang, still having Suho’s hand on his mouth, pointed his fingers upwards, indicating that he should hide upstairs.

“Go and hide in my room. I’ll call you when she leaves. Go now.”

Xiang rushed upstairs, with the doorbell ringing again and again. When Suho made sure that Xiang was completely out of sight, he went to open the door. His mother, as expected, was standing in front. Suho looked at her without saying a word. She jumped on him, hugging. She then patted him on his head and said, “Can I come in?”

Suho nodded his head and cleared the way for her to enter.

“Are you still not asleep? Did you eat?”

Suho nodded his head.

“Did you order again? I told you that you can come and eat at home, right?”

Suho took a paper and pen and started writing on it and showed it to her. It said “I had a few things at home. I didn’t want to waste it, so I made a simple dish.”

“My Suho started to cook?” said his mother and walked herself to the kitchen. Suho followed her. He then just realised that there were two soup bowls, washed and kept outside to let it dry. He knew that she will sense it.

Just like he had thought, she asked “Why are there two bowls Suho?”

He immediately responded by writing something on the paper. He then showed it to her, which said “I was trying to make a big rice ball by using the soup bowls as moulds. That’s why.”

As he didn’t stammer, she concluded that he wasn’t lying and said “Oh. I see.”

On the other hand, Xiang was hiding in Suho’s room. Having nothing to do, he looked around the room for a while. While he was walking around the bed, he slightly tripped on something solid. When he looked down, it seemed to him like a photo frame. He squatted down to grab the photo. But before he could do it, Suho immediately rushed in and snatched it away from him. Xiang flinched for a second.

“She left. Nothing to worry about now. You can go to sleep.” said Suho.

“The photo…”

Before he could finish it, Suho talked over him and said “You can sleep on my bed. I’ll be by your side just in case. Go to sleep. It’s getting late.”, while he put away the photo.

Xiang knew that Suho didn’t want him to see it. But in order to not make him angry, he just acted like he ignored it and went to sleep on the bed. Suho sat by his side and patted him to sleep. Xiang immediately went to sleep, and when he did, Suho lied down beside him and held Xiang tightly by his arm. He kissed him on his forehead and thought “Don’t worry Xiang. I’ll definitely catch the person who made you to forget the beautiful memories we had together.”, “I wanted to find this out by myself, while not getting you involved with me. But fate won, I guess. From now on, I’ll protect you no matter what. I am not the weak Suho I once was.”
