My Marriage To A Mute Alpha

Volume 1 Chapter 40 - ch 40

“Doctor! How is Suho? Is he alright?” asked Xiang anxiously while trying to hold back his tears.

“He’s perfectly safe. Thank god, the bleeding stopped. But, there seems to be a problem.”

“What is it?”

“It wasn’t just a normal blade. It seems to be tampered with some kind of toxin. I have sent the sample to the lab to find out what it is. It may take a few hours for the results to come out.”

“Toxin!” gasped Han Li. Shivering with dreadfulness, Xiang fell to his knees. Cheng Mu tried to help him get up, but he resisted.

“To…Toxin? It won’t affect him, right?” asked Xiang while quivering.

“I don’t know what the actual purpose of the toxin was. But it will soon be revealed. But despite its purpose, it damaged his vocal cords severely. Previously, he stopped talking after his mother and sister’s death, due to vocal cord paralysis. Even though he hadn’t been cured, there would have still been a chance for him to speak again. But I’m now afraid that even the slightest chance of being cured would be impossible.

Han Li and Cheng Mu now had no words left to console Xiang. Xiang quietly got up, and with a blank face, he asked, “Is Suho awake?”

“He’s waiting for you. You can go in now.”

Xiang, with his head down and having no idea how to face him, opened the door. The sight of Suho sitting on the hospital’s bed with his neck wrapped up in bandages was just dreadful. The situation he didn’t want Suho to get caught up in finally occurred before his eyes. Drops of tears ran down on his cheeks, one by one. Not wanting to frighten him more than what he already was, Suho smiled gently at him and held out his arms. Xiang ran to him and buried his head deep into his embrace and cried. Suho lightly patted his head and kissed him on the forehead.

“Suho! Why did you save me! It was all my fault! I didn’t save you!” wept Xiang.

Suho took out a paper and pencil and started writing on it. He then showed it to him, which said, “Xiang, please don’t cry. I’m glad that you are safe. If you got hurt, I would have felt far worse than this. I’m glad I was able to prevent you from getting hurt. It wasn’t your fault. You saved me! If it weren’t for you, I would have gone unconscious. You did great! I’m proud of you!” “Until now, I was acting as a mute. But I’m really a mute now. You won’t leave me, right?”

“I won’t leave you no matter what. I’ll always stay by your side! Whether you’re a mute or not, it doesn’t matter. You are still the Suho that I love!” replied Xiang. Suho hugged him tightly and shed a drop of tear. He couldn’t imagine a life without him.

Cheng Mu and Han Li then entered the room.

“Mr. Xiang and Suho, do you want someone to start investigating this right now?” asked Han li, getting straight to the point instead of fretting over something that had already happened. Before Suho could give his reply, Xiang stopped him. He firmly said, “I want to investigate this privately by myself. He wanted to hurt me in the first place but ended up hurting Suho. If he is brave enough to attempt to hurt me, he definitely won’t hesitate to hinder the investigation carried out by someone. If it were me to carry it out, at least I would get the chance to meet him face to face. I won’t let him slip away this time.”

When they just finished discussing about what to do next, the doctor came in with the report of the toxin.
