New Emperor Of Ghouls

Chapter 44 - 44: Basic Town

Dawn bridge town was smaller than he thought it would be. It was only 5 kilometres in both kwidth and length capable of housing a population of 10,000 and it was built by a mix of stone and wood.

The infrastructure within the city was clearly not built by goblins. The buildings were built for taller beings than goblins, the stone wall outside the village wasn't maintained properly and looks like it could be knocked down by a gust of wind, but the fact there are stone-made infrastructure means other more advanced races had been here before.

He refused to believe that those savages build this place at all, when they still hunt for their food, it's like they've never heard of vegetables.

However, like the other seven goblin settlements, the amount of goblins in the village didn't match up with the reports of the early scouting runs, and he didn't like it.

Instead of encountering around 13,000 goblins and the 4,000 strong defending force. He only found 1,200 goblins in total. Not that he cared, the less he had to deal with, the quicker he could finish the nightmare forest war and spend quality time with his daughter.

[Would you like to conquer Dawnbridge town]

Seeing the system pop-up, he chose to conquer and refused to relocate it.

[Congratulations! You have obtained 41,000 EXP!]

Ordered the men to pack up because they were marching on.

He knew this war was spreading his soldiers thin. However, he didn't have much time. The warning from this unknown soulmate of his, spread a sense of urgency over his entire being, so taking these villages early on would allow more Ghouls to be spawned overall.

There was so much to do that he had been neglecting for fighting here and there. Walls needed to be built for protection, hardly any organisation in the territory and something had to be changed.

Zhong Yi knew he would have to leave soldiers to defend and the soldiers would have to be proportional to the size of the place they are defending. He has to leave behind the remnants of squad 1G and a good half of squad 1H. Leaving him 150 soldiers less than he started with.

Releasing a heavy sigh at the terrible decisions — or lack of good ones — he had been making so far, his back straightened once more, and he stood with his head raised again. All the doubt and regret that he had been feeling slowly were pushed to the back of his mind.

[System announcement! Congratulations, your Village has become a basic town]

[System announcement! Congratulations, Sacred Ghoul's Fate has greatly increased]

[System announcement! The special structure Heaven Prayer Platform has automatically levelled up, and you will now be closer to the heavens]

[System Announcement! Your Town has unlocked Ministers and Generals]

[System Announcement! Under the influence of Sacred Ghoul, A historical figures sleeping within Great Qin's Legacy have awakened.]

As soon as the first announcement struck him, a beam of bright light raised into the sky striking the clouds like a hammer and bulldozed its way into the bright sky.

Like before, the anomaly was only seen by half the inhabitants of the nightmare forest. However, when you take into account that the nightmare covers half the continent. Every beast, sentient monster and legatee who set up in the nightmare forest realised how terrifying their neighbour was becoming.

They all watched withheld their breaths as an earth-shattering roar shook the ground as the same blood-red dragon descended from the sky. This time it's body was more corporeal.

The red fate dragon floated down from the ground with a brutish grace that reflected the raw strength within each flap of its large wingspan. For some reason, the dragon head would look in every direction as if it were looking for something or someone.

"Oh." Struck by a moment of realisation, Yan Zhong Yi walked out of town hall.

"Wu Lin take command. The goblins will be even fewer now because of this, expect to find large amounts of goblins in the forest. You know what to do." Commanded Zhong Yi.

Wu Lin stood up from the corpse underneath him and saluted his majesty shouting. "Yes, your majesty!"

After giving out his orders, he sent a steady stream of spirit energy into his city lord seal, he brought out of his interspatial ring and flew off into the sky over the salutes and bows of the soldiers and Linthos.

As he flew in the sky, he saw little green things frantically fleeing in the opposite direction of the beacon of light piercing the sky from the Sacred Ghoul village and knew his assumptions were correct.

'The first fate gathering phenomenon must've scared a good amount of goblins into running because they feared living so close to us and now it happened a second time.

They probably don't even know who they are facing other than bits and pieces. They should still fear us from when we demolished their army of 50,000 goblin army. Now they flee for their lives' Thought Zhong Yi as he flew in the air.

The fate dragon heads snapped in his direction and watched him approaching. It must've been impatient at how slow he was going because it flew over to Zhong Yi and motioned for him to hop on.

He did just that and the red dragon flew over to the village ten times the speed the emperor was flying at.

When he reached the village, all the villagers had already gathered at the Heaven prayer platform and prostrated themselves on the ground.

"Thank god you arrived, your majesty!" Minister Cheng visibly relaxed at seeing him land in the village and ordered for a few to help take off his armour and put on his royal robes and crown.

Zhong Yi walked up the steps to the platform which rose a few metres from its upgrade and stood just outside the beam of light surrounding the beacon of light.

"I Yan Zhong Yi, Emperor of the Sacred Ghoul Empire promise to return our empire to its former glory and surpass it. We will be stronger than before; richer than before and more feared than before. I shall make us return to the top where we belong." Each word carried the strength of his will and determination behind it, to show his conviction.

As if to acknowledge it, The beacon of red light shined brighter and grew to cover his body.

Red wisps of light rose up from the ground and sped over to Zhong Yi's body at speeds the eye couldn't track without a powerful cultivation.

Inside his body, something was awakening.
