New Emperor Of Ghouls

A blast of pressure emanated from the lonely figure on the platform growing stronger with every second that passes.

The beacon of light disappeared leaving Zhong Yi standing there with his eyes closed. 

Red smoke was rising from his body, as if he was on fire. However, it wasn't the outside of him that was burning. 

Something inside him was rapidly changing. 

Waves of energy was coursing through him and it didn't follow the way his spirit energy did. Instead, it followed his blood.

Zhong Yi didn't have much time to dwell on what anything was before pain racked his entire body. The insides of his bones felt like they were burning. His entire body felt like thousands of ants were eating away his insides. 

"Ugh!" He gritted his teeth and weathered the pain. But it only intensified as he felt something growing from his lower back.

It felt like there was an extra one there, but the pain was overwhelming his senses. 

The pain managed to subside to bearable levels after a while where he could think properly.

"That hurt like a bi…" the words froze in his mouth when he realised his daughter stood right next to him with tears running down her eyes. 

"Daddy, daddy. Are you okay?" Said his little girl between sobs.

"I'm fine, I'm fine. Everyone must be worried sick." He picked her up and rubbed her back as if she was ok pain. 

While Zhong Yi repeatedly tried to reassure her that he was okay, he opened up the stats page to see the changes. 

[King]: King grade. Description: 0lA profession unlocked after creating a country, and it can be passed down to the next generation. It surpasses grades given to Military professions and represents the sovereignty of a King. Effect: Receives [King's Power].

'The spire must've held this ancient king's power and when it exploded it must've entered into my body. But I don't think it was meant to explode. Someone who had access to it wanted it to explode when I accessed it and who else other than this soulmate of mate' the pieces of the puzzle slowly came together in the back of his mind as he walked back down the platform with Zhong Mei squeezing at his neck and cheek pressed against his shoulders. 

Before when he zoomed into his bloodline for more information it would look like this.

Now it had the purity value had risen once more by another 40% for both of them.

He walked down the platform and saw the entire village standing there still waiting for him to address them.

"Why was she up there?" There was a coldness to his voice that promised punishment should the reason not be sufficient enough. 

"It is my fault, Your majesty." Minister Cheng saw how most people averted their heads down.

"The princess said she could feel you were in pain and it continued to grow. She was in constant worry and I didn't know how to console her so I told her to go up there because no harm would come to her because of her being your blood."

He turned his head slightly to the side looking down at his daughter whose head still rested on his shoulder and kissed her hair. 

"Meet me in the town hall 2 days from now. All the soldiers will have returned by then and I have realised how much work has been left while we focused on the military side of things. Everyone else should have things to do!" The expression on Minister Cheng remained the same while his eyes betrayed him showing his excitement.

After saying his piece, he walked away leaving a crowd with a dampened shoulder from tears and a tired expression and an extra kagune. 

*2 days later*

"We had required got 67 villages and 3 towns. Each village is protected by 10 Ghouls and 20 Hong soldiers and the towns by 50 of both" Each individual who led a portion of the army was in the town hall. 

The town hall became bigger than before. It seemed to upgrade with other structures when the village upgrade to a town. 

They were all in the throne room where the city stone was glowing behind the throne made of precious metals. 

"From all the conquered villages. 27 are advanced level while 40 are intermediate level. We noticed the basic village all levelled up." General Cheng's unspoken question was in everyone else's minds 

"After the upgrade a new feature was added. I am able to use most EXP on other places. Last thing we need right now is for the Sacred Ghoul town to reach intermediate level when its management hasn't reached such a level." Zhong Yi saw need to hide the fact. 

"F-Five villages were silver grade, 21 were blue grade and 41 were white grade." Wu Lin stepped back to the left side of the hall quickly to withdraw from the attention.

"And the goblins?" 

General Hong spoke this time. "We have 1000 Hong soldiers scouring the territory. However, it has been reported that even with the amount of Goblins killed half the amount Is unaccounted for." 

"Your majesty, may I" Entered Minister cheng. 

Yan Zhong Yi nodded and Cheng Jianguo continued. 

"We know the nightmare forest covers half the continent. Which means that the nightmare forest should have other regions." 

Looks of understanding found their way onto the faces of almost everyone in the room. Wu Lin was still confused. 

Shaking his head, Minister Cheng continued explaining his theory.

"Who's to say the goblins were only confined to this region. The goblins could control half the forest and other races could exist within as well." 

Wu Lin finally understood the problem, but was still confused. "Isn't that a good thing? They are a shield between us and the humans. Even if the humans find out about us, they couldn't come find us because they don't know the specific location so they would land themselves in the other races territory."

"We have provoked this shield." An Ming voice cut down any room for argument from Wu Lin. "If it is as Minister Cheng says then, we have to believe that the goblins have access to teleportation and could attack us at any given moment."
