Odin In The Wizarding World

Chapter 10 - 10: Instant connection

Days later... Highlands, Scotland, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry...

Despite having faith in her brothers words, Hermione had still some lingering doubts reguarding the resurrection of Triwizarding Tournament. These doubts had finally squashed today, as four flying horses pulling a carriage appeared above the castle and a large ship emerged out of the waters surrounding the castle.

Now sitting together with Harry and Ron, in Hogwards Great Hall following the first years sorting procedures, she eagerly awaits her brother arrival, while listening to Dumbledore giving a speach.

''Now we're all settled in and sorted, I'd like to make an announcement. This castle will not only be your home this year but home to some very special guests as well. You see Hogwarts has been choosen...'' Says the headmaster before getting interrupted by a man running up the aisle limping in a comical way, whispering something to Dumbledore and than leaving in the same fashion. Collecting his thoughts, the headmaster continues his speach by saying. ''... So Hogwarts has been choosen to host a legendary event. The Tri-Wizard tournament. Now for those of you who do not know, the tri-wizard tournament brings together three schools for a series of magical contests. From each school a single contestant is selected to compete. Now let me be clear, if choosen you stand alone. And trust me when I say these contests are not for the faint hearted, but more of that later. For now please join me in welcoming the lovely ladies of the Beauxbatons Academy of magic and their headmistress Madam Maxime...''

Just as his words are echoing through the hall a group of girls dressed in blue dance up the aisle and release butterflies into the air, before bowing to the crowed as everyone applauds them. As the show is going on, a very tall woman accompanied by three beautiful woman, two of them twins, promt several male Hogwarts students to make hushed comments.

(Boy#1) ''Blimey, that's one big woman.''

(Girl#1) ''Are these Fleur Delacour and the famous Proudmore twins Sibilla and Irena?''

(Boy#1 to his friends) ''I have heared that if you succeed in seducing one of the twins, both will fall for you!''

(Boy#2 and #3 simultaneously) ''That can't be true right?''

Ignoring his students comments, Dumbledore greets the giant woman Madam Maxime, before annoucing the other guests. ''... And now our friends from the north, please greet the proud sons of Durmstrang and the high master Igor Karkaroff.''

Even before the headmasters words can create any echos, a series of older boys walk up the aisle brandishing bo staffs, twirling them around and periodically stabbing them into the ground with a spark effect. Following after them are three, to Hermione and company at least, very familiar faces. Krum, wearing the classic Dustrang uniform and Edward wearing one of his new eccentric outfits, are accompanying their high master Igor Karkaroff.

Just like the girls of Beauxbatons before them, just their appearance alone spawns an uncountable amount of hushed comments among Hogwards student's. Only in close proximity to herself, Hermione can hear several boys and girls, including Ron talk to each other.

(Boy#2) ''I have heard Igor Karkaroff is a former Death Eater.''

(Ron) ''Blimey it's him, it's him, Viktor Krum!...'' Leaning over to Hermione, he asks. ''... Could you get me his autograph via your brother, please?''

(Girl #2 to #3) ''Uh, who is the other guy? He looks so handsome!''

(Boy#1) ''Don't be deceive! It's his clothing that makes him look cool and command attention, not him!''

(Girl#2 and #3) ''Just shut up and don't defame my future husband!''

Particular the last comment conjures up a cold jealous rage inside of Hermione, that forces her to fixate her gaze on her older brother, not allowing herself to miss any of his reactions. To her delight, Edward seams to be aware of the girls instant infatuation but consciously decides not to react to them, faking ignorance.

That being only the case until he spots some individuals up ahead. Following his immediate line of side, Hermione is able to deduce the individuals to be the famously fabulous Proudmore twins next to their headmistress and Dumbledore. Looking at the two twins look at her brother with complicated expressions on their faces, she stands witness to an intangible connection instantly being formed between the three of them.

Feeling the cold jealous rage turn from cold to hot, Hermione averts her eyes in an attempt to wish away what she witnessed. Turning her attention to the older boys, she finds herself entertained by them breathing some fire, while Dumbledore and Karkaroff are greeting each other.

After a quick uncomfortable looking hug, the headmaster of Hogwarts once again adresses the crow, as a huge golden tower like structure is carried in by dome autors. ''Your attention please! I would like to say a few words. Eternal glory, that is what awaits the student who wins the tri-wizard tournament. But to do this that student must survive three tasks. Three extremely dangerous tasks...''

While keeping her eyes on Dumbledore, Hermione hears Rons brother Fred say unvonsciously. ''Wicked.''

''... For this reason the ministry has seen fit to impose a new rule. To explain all this we have the head of the department of international magic cooperation Mister Bartimus Crouch.'' States Dumbledore before giving way to the a.s.s hole from the ministry that previously arrested her brother.

As the Crouch joins the headmasters, thunder roars overhead, rain begins leaking through the roof and screams break out and a strange looking man appears in the doorway behind them. Entering into the hall, he instantly casts some magic upwards, sealing the roof. Peace is restored.

From behind herself, Hermione hears Ron say. ''Bloody hell, it's Mad-Eye Moody.''

Finding the name familliar, she turns around and adks Ron. ''Alastor Moody? The auror?''

Nodding, Ron tells hse. ''He was a catcher. Half the cells in Azkaban are full thanks to him. He's supposed to be mad as a hatter though these days.''

As this suspicious character enters the room his mechanical eye seams to fixate on Harry for a brief moment before moving onto Dumbledore. As he limps over to the headmaster, breathing heavily as he moves, he sways from left to right, while also making metallic noises.

Spotting the man, Dumbledore greets him by saying. ''My dear old friend, thanks for coming.''

Not bothering to reply the greeying, Moody only comments saying. ''That stupid roof.''

Seeing Mad-Eye taking a drink, Hermione hears a boy ask. ''What's that he's drinking do you suppose?''

Not turning around, but following the event with rising interresy, she hears Harry answer the question by commenting. ''I don't know but I don't think it's Pumpkin Juice...''

As everybody is settling down following the sudden rainfall, Barty Crouch starts adressing all students. ''After much deliberation the ministry has concluded that for their own safety no student under the age of seventeen shall be allowed to put forth their name for the tri-wizard tournament. This decision is final.''

As one might expect, the crowd is unsettled and some people are even booing.

''Silence!'' Shouts Dumbledore by amplifying his voice via magic, instantly making the students quite down. Hearing the crowd turn absolutely silent, Hermione sees her headmaster casts some magic over the golden tower like box, the auror had carried in, which instantly starts to meld revealing an exquidite stony goblet containing a blue flame.

Leaning on to the tall standing goblet, Dumbledore once again adresses all students by saying. ''... The goblet of fire. Anyone wishing to submit themselves for the tournament merely write their name upon a piece of parchment and throw it in the flame before this hour on Thursday night. Do not do so lightly, if choosen there's no turning back. As from this moment the tri-wizard tournament has begun.''
