Chapter 36 - Three is better than one.

Looking at those eggs I couldn't hold my excitement. Twenty years, that's how long I waited for this moment. Twenty years I bowed down to that lizard and heeded to his every order. Now it was my time to shine! Twenty years of hard work finally paid off!

I slowly started to walk towards the eggs and when I was near them I heard the King's call. After looking at those eggs I went towards the stupid king and said, "Your Highness, is there a problem?"

He looked at me and said, "I don't understand your plan. Why do you want to hatch those eggs. Isn't it better to just destroy them?"

Smiling I said, "Your highness, destroying those eggs would be nothing but a great waste. Those three eggs all would hatch a dragon. If we can control those dragons our race would dominate this world. Just look at that dragon king! He by himself was able to destroy our great army for years. He killed your grandfather and father. Those three dragons would securely be stronger than Eragon. With their power nobody could stop us."

"But can we really control them" asked the ape king.

"That's why we need that" I said pointing at my left hand using my right. In my left hand I was holding a red mana crystal.(Refer to Ch10). Most of the time mana crystals are colored in clear blue color as they are formed from the neutral mana in nature. They are formed inside the caves. All my life I researched those crystals and came up with a theory of their origin. The caves especially ones where the Ape Kingdom is would absorb the mana to strengthen themselves. Because of harsh weathers and natural disasters the caves developed some kind of survival instincts making it possible for them to absorb mana. The leftover mana would then be left inside the cave. Caves that existed for centuries would have mana crystals appear in them. Those mana crystals are made from enormous amounts of mana which could make creature stronger next to them.

Because mana crystals were made from caves or because they are tangible form of mana they too have a special characteristics. They could never be destroyed and they could absorb mana and replenish their stocks. Everyone could absorb mana from it and they too could replenish their mana stocks in mana vessels. And after they absorb all the mana from it they could wait for few more days for the mana crystal to absorb the neutral mana and start to absorb that mana.

"This mana crystal is not a normal one. This crystal is full of mana from the Dragon King. For twenty years I made this mana crystal absorb the Eragon's mana. Using this we could control the dragons that would hatch!" I said.

Looking at the mana crystal he said, "You didn't answer my question! How do you know that it is possible to control them!"

I smiled and answered, "Your highness, that is because it was me who created those dragon eggs. Before I came here as a spy I did try to locate the dragons greatest fear. After learning that he couldn't have heirs because dragons are so powerful, I came up with an idea. If you're not lucky enough to have heirs then you have to create them. I tried many ways and finally I found an ideal way to create the dragons. Dragons are her hatched from eggs same way as the Wyverns do. But what is the difference between Wyverns and a Dragon. They look different and one is more powerful. In other aspects they are identical."

I stoped and again looked at my masterpieces. After looking at them I said, "I found a way to make a Wyvern a dragon. It was quite a simple task. You just have to get a Wyvern egg and constantly supply it with mana. Individual mana is different for every creature but when the child is not born it is possible to influence the formation of their own mana. Wyverns mana and Dragons mana are different. But when the egg does not even have its own mana it is possible to influence it to be like the one of the two. By only supplying mana from a dragon to the eggs you can create dragons. Using my way of creating offsprings I earned the Eragon's trust. I told him if ways to create heirs and it was quite successful. He tested my method on Drake eggs. He created artificial Wyvern with Drake eggs and there was no difference between normally born Wyverns and artificially created ones. After the tests proved successful Eragon gathered all the Wyvern eggs possible to try and turn them into dragon eggs. But because dragons are far more powerful than Wyverns it was a hard process. From hundreds of Wyvern eggs only three survived. "

I slowly went toward the eggs and touched the one in the middle. I said, "They had to be hatched ten years ago but it would destroy my plan. I wanted to steal the newborn dragons but it was impossible for me to do it with Eragon always being with them. I told him not to hatch it saying they would be more powerful the more we wait. He easily believed me and he did as I wanted. Now I could hatch those eggs and use the red mana crystal to control them. Before the tests were even successful I had one theory. It was proven after the first artificially created Wyvern was born. My theory was that the artificially created Wyverns would do everything that the Wyvern that supplied mana would say. It was correct as the artificially created Wyvern followed the wishes of the Wyvern that supplied mana. Eragon thought nothing of it but for me I was the happiest ape in the world. He never could expect me having this mana crystal!"

I was about to activate the mana crystal and hatch the dragon when King yelled, "STOP!"

I looked at him confused and looked at his face, his eyes were full of greed. He walked towards me and took away the mana crystal and smilingly said, "Isn't it better for me hatch them. I'm the king of all apes and I have to do it!" I held myself back from punching him to the face and said, "Of course you have to be one to hatch them your highness!"

When he was about to activate the crystal I heard a clear crack. And all three eggs started to slowly break down.
