Overcoming The Beast

Chapter 11 - Vitality Absorbing Dagger

Leon walks through the streets of the town. The town barely had anything to do. Most summoner went and trained in the Flamesmith Clan's Guardian tower. The only other things to do were go to the auction house or smithy.

"I don't have any money so I won't go the auction house right now." He was going to the smithy.

In his past life since he had a high fire affinity he was able to forge and repair his own weapons. Sooner or later he had reached Master Blacksmith level. It was perfect to use those skills now to earn some money.

Leon reached a building. It kept with the theme of the town, with a red exterior, and heat flowering out of the building, it blended in nicely with the town.

The building had a huge sign hanged at the front, written in absolute elegance on it was Everlasting Smithy. The Calligraphy had dominance and showed that it was done by master of the art. This building was one of the most important feature of the town- second only to the fire tower.

The manager of this building was the head clan elder of the Flamesmith Clan. Only he practiced forging and was successful enough to become a Blacksmith Teacher in the last decade of the clan. Because of this he had been given the Everlasting Smithy by the Blacksmith association to manage.

The inside had a few people talking with each other. Leon could hear that they were saying something about him, however they weren't saying anything important so he chose to pay them no heed. Leon goes up to the counter. A lady sat there looking down, she seemed to be filling in some type of papers.

"I want to practice some blacksmithing. I heard that with the Flamemsith family token I could use the smithy for 3 days without paying", says Leon as he puts his Flamesmith token on the counter.

The lady looks at the token, she then without even looking at Leon she takes out a key puts it on the table and goes back to the papers as she says "Yes, here is the key to room number 14, you can stay there for three days."

Leon enters room fourteen and locks the door. The room is small with just a forge a table and a hammer.

He then goes to the forge and lights it on fire. "The fire is lower quality then I thought, but I'll be able to use it to get a better idea on my affinity." Leon sits in front of the forge in a meditation position. He closes his eyes. And slowly brings his hand closer and closer to the fire. He finally touches the fire and his hand ignites but no scorch marks can be seen.

"Good, my fire affinity is high enough, and I still have my control from past life, this low grade flame can't even burn me." He then goes to the side of the forge raises the temperature of the flame to the maximum. "Just a little hotter, still can't effect me. My affinity is peak student level it seems."

Leon takes out the items he bought from the Lucky Sky shop and puts two kilograms of fire ore and two kilogram of wind ore into the forge and starts to melt them. The ore heats up and becomes liquid. Leon mixes the two hot liquids. He then separates the liquid in two parts and let's the liquid cool until it solidifies where he heats it again and starts to hammer it. He starts refining the metal until it turns it into two red with a slight yellow ingots.

He then starts hammering the ingots again over the flame but this time into a curve shape. Slowly shaping two curved blades. "Two daggers down and its only been half a day."

He then takes out the rest of the ore, three kilograms of both fire and wind ore and starts to go through the same process. When he refines the metal the fire starts to rise up from the forge and starts to climb up his hands, arms and the eventually cover his whole body. Leon enters into a trance as he hammers away.

The next day at the front of the smithy a man walks in. He had a badge on his c.h.e.s.t. Bronze in colour and with a forging hammer engraved on it. The man dressed well and held his head high in pride. His c.h.e.s.t puffed out as if to make sure everyone saw the badge.

The lady at the front of the store looks at the man with a stunned expression and says" Good morning, Sir.., would you like the usual room,"

The man arrogantly responds with "Yes"

The lady already holding the key escorts the man down the hall to his room. As he walks by a room he feels a strong heat from the room next to him. The Blacksmith must be using the maximum temperature fire. He must be very skilled, almost as much as me.

"Oh, who is in room fourteen?" the man says acting as if he is mildly surprised.

"Sir, it should be a twelve year old child from the Flamesmith clan, his name should be Leon" the lady says with confused look wondering why Mr l.. asked her this.

... was shocked. He shouts "did you say a twelve year old kid. Quickly open the door he must be burning in there, can't you feel the strong fire energy coming till here. Even I would have difficulty in controlling such a flame, much less a twelve year old kid."

The lady was now shocked as well, she quickly takes out a master key and unlocks the door.

Leon inside the room still in his trance starts to finish of the long sword he was creating. He hears the door start to unlock, which snaps him out of his trance. In a moment of anger he swings his sword at the door launching a slash of fire on the wall next to it.

The lady already on the floor behind . "I've never been so close to death " she thinks.

As for he quickly speaks without giving Leon a chance to speak. "I'm sorry master Blacksmith, I did not think I would see an esteemed person like you in this place, please accept my apology."

Leon looking a little less angry starts looking at the sword he created. "Even pigs wouldn't enter a room while someone forges, to think that an apprentice blacksmith like you can't even do something so simple. Death can't cure such idiocy. So tell me, how do I know you are truly sorry? Do remember death is an acceptable punishment for such mistakes. Any second earliar I would have lost control of the flame and died myself." Leon finally said his true motive "if words could solve all problems we wouldn't have wars."

Mr knowing what's coming, with clenched teeth he says "Sir, is there anything I can do to show my sincerity." Internally he couldn't help but think 'are all kids this guile'.

Leon looks at 's badge and says " actually I don't have any money on me so could you rent a higher grade forge room, and also have these materials ready for me in a day. Make sure to pay for the fixing of the wall as well." Leon gives the middle aged man a paper which he accepts and puts in the pocket of his shirt.

Mr with a smile says "no problem sir, but may I ask your name and age"

"Leon, twelves years old." says Leon as he starts packing his things up.

Mr smile widens, he states "Miss Wu quickly set one of the best rooms for this young master."

still dazed at what just happens instinctively agrees, "right away Sir!" but stays standing in place.

closes the door and continues to walk to his own room. Mis earns up the courage and asks "Mr, are you sure he is a master blacksmith?"

"You didn't see. When we opened the door his entire body was on fire, he should have been in the man and fire as one state that only master blacksmiths can achieve. Even if he isn't a master blacksmith now he should soon become one. Also the sword he created was a high grade human weapon that was made of the trashiest materials I have ever seen. That boy is very skilled."

"But to take such a hearing from a kid if this got out your image would be ruined."

Mr glared at Miss, "first of all, no one else will know this, right Miss Wu." She gestures that her lips are zipped.

"In the end I did disturb him. What he said was right even if he did kill me no one would say anything. The blacksmith association would happily accept the reason and would try to have him join them instead, with such talent the association would treat him as a treasure."

Miss left shocked reminding herself to be much more respectful next time. She quickly sets a room up for Leon use.
