Overcoming The Beast

Chapter 18 - Increasing Affinity (3)

Somewhere inside Leon his two souls combined. Fusing together to form one soul. As this happened the equilibrium of regeneration to destruction was broken. He was awakened from his state.

He didn't know why but his body started to wither. He took out a bottle of pills, the bottle was incinerated while Leon swallowed all pills and even some magma entered his body.

The pills gave him the little boost he needed. He felt a burst in his body, the soul book from old life sent out energy. Fixing the equilibrium. He went back to his peaceful slumber.

Three days before the awakening ceremony. Everyone in the Flamesmith Clan was excited. Some celebrating the approaching new year. Others wishing for a good primal beast.

In Leon's house, Leon's father David said "Looks like Leon will be back soon." The father sighed. "In the end he didn't visit us once. That boy Pace visited us almost every week asking for him though."

"So Honey do you think that Leon is possessed?"

"I talked to my father and mother. They said it was unlikely. Some one possessed would release a strong aura of the dead. There body would also start to rot."

The wife Sandra heard this with a smile. "So Leon isn't possessed, his body grew stronger and you could say he became happier."

"Well yes. Something else might have happened that he didn't want to tell."

"He'll tell us when the time is right. I know he will, that boy isn't good at keeping secrets."

The husband laughed "How would you know that, what if he is so good you don't even know he has secrets?"

"I raised him. Are you doubting my parenting." Sandra's eyes sharpened as a knife landed in front of the husband.

"Honey your knife slipped I think you should take some rest I'll ask Aunt Reva to cook us a meal. She was offering earlier." He then got up and left the house.

Sandra watched him leave and snorted as he closed the door behind him.

In the magma Leon opened his eyes. The magma felt cool and comforting. It was like a warm blanket hugging on to him. He felt the Fire energy in the surrounding sleep into his skin even when he wasn't trying to absorb it. He actually felt that he couldn't control it anymore. It was like the Fire energy had gained awareness and like a child wanting its mother it flowed towards Leon. He could sense the reliance. The complete control.

"My affinity had clearly broken past the peak of my past life's affinity. It has gone beyond the grandmaster level. This is weird I remember that I had been born with master level affinity, which was the peak of affinity before awakening a Soul book. Is it because of my past lives soul book? probably." Leon nodded.

"Also why did I have such a low affinity in the first place? Right it should have been that time in my childhood when Pace's Peng almost died. Both of us were crying in the rain. My unstable self used my fire affinity as a sacrifice for the Peng to recover."

"That guy is the cause for all the extra effort I had to put into cultivating." Leon clicked his tongue.

"He didn't know what I did but he knew I some how saved his Peng in that rain. We swore to be brothers, to go through life together to the... heavens."

"WHY!" Leon suddenly fell to his knees. "I can't believe this actually happen. To think I would do something so idiotic."

"Because the oath was recognized by the heavens we are now connected through heavens will, soon we will be able to feel emotions and as it gets stronger with time we'll be connected through the mind. He'll be able to read my memories, thoughts and communicate through telepathy."

"The only way I can stop this is by staying away from Pace from now on. The bond will weaken although not break. Why did the heaves even recognize this oath by five years olds doesn't it have anything better to do like kill demons or something."

"Well it isn't that bad at least pace has some of my talent he won't hold me back." Leon justified.

Leon then thought about last few pills he ate. They were the body strengthening pills from his father he honestly thought they were useless when he first got them but now he was celebrating.

"Wow... looks like the body strengthening pills that father bought came in use, probably would have died with out them. I think my souls finally completely combined. That should be what broke the equilibrium. The situation had gotten a bit too perilous but the results were fantastic."

Leon was genuinely impressed by the results. He had used multiple different methods in his past life this was the first method to give such dramatic changes. He felt rejuvenated, like he could breath properly now.

"This method won't work again sadly."

"In the end I succeed in going through nirvanic rebirth."

Leon felt the pure cloud energy flowing inside himself.

"The Pure fire cloud art is about to break into the last level, Pure Fire Cloud. Perfect."

In his inner world he could see the silver black soul book, it hadn't changed on the outside but Leon could tell the recovering process had sped up by a miniscule amount. He then looked towards the red seed.

He could also see the red soul seed in his body change. It changed from the simple red it was before to a deep crimson, it even gave the illusion of heat being sent out from it.

Leon swam to the surface and used the fire elemental energy to carry him on to a rock.

He pulled the blade out. It reveled a sharp and hot blade. The metals had completely blended. Leon took out his hammer and quickly fixed it up. It took a few minutes and the chain and scythe grew to mid spirit weapon.

"It is also easier to forge. This speed is incredible." Leon started playing with the flame energy seeing how hot a flame he could form. After while he kept the chain back .

"The awakening ceremony is soon I should quickly go back. Hopefully I haven't missed it."

He left the volcano and started walking back. It was night time as the moon was high in the sky.

Boom!

Leon was pushed back by some strong wind. He rolled to the side taking cover behind a boulder.
