Overcoming The Beast

Chapter 87 - Ephemeral Lightning Great Library (2)

Flint and Chloe woke up from cultivation. They looked at their beasts still cultivating they then saw Leon high up watching them.

Leon lowered the slab to the ground and got off.

"So what do you two plan on doing?"

The two looked blank they didn't really know. They had just followed Leon till here.

Flint thought about and said "My parents should be returning soon. So can't stay here much longer."

Chloe said "I don't really have anywhere to go back to. So I might stay here and cultivate."

Flint then said "Leon what do you plan on doing?"

"You see this formation under you. I'm going to use it to teleport back to the Fire Continent."

They both were surprised. "The floor is a formation I thought it was just a cool pattern."

When Flint looked closer he could see it was made using tiny runes.

Leon said "If you want to use the mirror over there. It is a secret exit that will send you directly to the ocean above the Library. That door is locked and is to dangerous for you two to go alone."

The two nodded.

"I'll look around some more then leave. You guys can leave whenever you want."

"Also on the that top shelf you will find a soul technique with seven levels. Make sure to take it. I've taken all the other top arts in this Library. You'll need master level lightning affinity to cultivate the arts, which both of you don't have. But when you reach the level find me and I don't mind letting you cultivate them. My name is Leon Flamesmith. I'm from the Flamesmith clan."

Chloe continued to nod she said "My name is Chloe Thunderous. I'm from a small clan called the Thunderous Clan. Thank you for bringing me here. I shall engrave your name into my heart as a benefactor." She then bowed.

Flint was shocked by Leon's revelation, "You're from the Fire Continent!"

Leon expected as much. He used Formless aura to change his hair and eye colour.

"I was using a technique to disguise myself during my travel through the Ice Continent. I decided to keep It entering the Lightning Continent."

"Leon from the Flamesmith Clan... I am indebted to you. When I return to the Fire Continent with my parents I'll make sure to find you."

Leon nodded and went to the shelf on the right side of the hall. He had been been reading books from the left side and still hadn't gone to the right. The top of the right side had the Soul Technique. He threw it down for the two of them to catch it.

He then moved on to the other shelves. What he was looking for was a useable fire art or ability he could learn for his agility.

He found a movement skill quickly it was a simple but useful art called Lightning Step art.

Finding a fire art was hard. There were already few fire arts. He finally found one that he could use.

"A Vermilion burning heart? That sounds familiar." Leon opened up and the first thing it said was. "This art was made using one of the runes from the Heavenly Grade art Vermilion Bird's Rage."

"A Vermilion Bird's ability! Although it is pretty weak it'll do." Leon kept it and lowered the slab down.

Flint and Chloe had decided that Chloe would study the Soul Technique, simply because Flint was a Fire cultivator and Chloe was a Lightning one.

"Chloe don't feel bad about me not getting an art. There still so many yo choose from. Studying that art would be worst for my cultivation." Hearing Flint say that Chloe felt a little better.

As they both talked Leon went down to the teleportation Formation.

He called the two Lightning Beast cultivating in the air. The Lightning Griffin had reached seven orangestars. While the Lightning Spirit butterfy was at one orangestar.

He told them they did a good job and unsummoned them.

"You two don't walk in or you'll be teleported to." Leon said to Flint and Chloe.

Leon went to the center and bit his thumb. He drew a quick circle using his blood and wrote the spatial coordinates of the Desert of Desolation where the Flamesmith Clan was located.

The formation activated and Leon disappeared.

Eventually the light from the formation settled down. Flint and Chloe saw the empty formation and felt a little sad.

"He left and didn't even say good bye." Chloe said.

"Maybe that was his way of saying we will meet again." Flint responded. "We should cultivate and make sure we catch up to him, he's already way a head of us."

Chloe nodded and started cultivating.

Flint started reading and finding a better cultivation art. Leon was someone from the Fire Continent like him but was so much stronger. He was swiftly going through cultivation while he himself was relaxing. The gap would only widen if he didn't try hard.

Flint made a promise that he would see Leon again. Next time, they would be on equal footing.

Chloe didn't have that big of an impact. She already had reasons to cultivate. She had run away form her Clan and didn't know what to do so had joined the Lightning Army.

She wanted to grow stronger. She wanted to go back to her parents and the Thunderous Clan. But at the Clan she would be forcefully married to someone. So she had to grow stronger and fight for her freedom.
