Overcoming The Beast

Chapter 92 - The Second Round (2)

The climb wasn't to long. They reached the bottom and saw another branching path. Eos randomly picked and everyone went with.

Entering the path was the same as the others. Dark and silent. The only light was the Crystal balls. They however had gotten dimmer then before. Energy was running out.

As they walked a click could be heard. Then with a thud the wall behind the closed.

Pace looked down and coughed, "Sorry my bad." He had stepped on a pressure s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e rune.

Leon didn't seem to care. "It's fine we weren't going to go back anyway."

They continued forward. As they did Leon the cave seem to become more narrow.

"Pace, Leon the caves becoming extremely narrow really fast. Do you think we'll be locked here?"

Before they could answer they saw the cave become so thin that barely one person could fit through.

"Well at least we're not locked in." Pace said optimistically.

"We'll have to enter side ways. Hopefully this will be the end."

Leon went and slid in between the opening. Pace found it hard as he was bigger then the two. Eos found the easiest as she was the smallest.

"These walls are wet." Eos said.

"I think a drop of water fell on me." Pace added.

"We should be under some type of water deposit. Be careful there might be a trap." Leon said.

They walked side way between the narrow path formed by two rock walls. They were close to reaching out. Leon was surprised he could see the light.

"I can see light I think we're free!"

"What, move faster! quick!"

They got out of the paths into another dark cave that had a formation spinning above them. It was the source of the light.

"I thought we were out! Why is this so long! I think we've been walking for a day now!" Pace started getting frustrated. Not only was it dark, it was also silent. They couldn't use there spatial rings so they couldn't take out any food or anything. Without there cultivation they started getting hungry.

Leon also felt weaker. They couldn't even summon beast. The cultivation sealing formation worked as a double whammy and blocked the soul book as well. Thinking of that, Leon felt bad for the poor souls who would summon there beast earlier and then have to Leave there beast behind because they reached a path narrow path that the beast was too large to go through.

Leon looked at the formation spinning above him. "This is a light formation. But it has something incorporated into it." Leon thought. He couldn't see it properly. The formation was to high up.

Eos had gotten her Clan robe stuck in the rocks while leaving the path. She had been pulling her sleeve out while Pace tried to help her. Leon had been distracted by his thoughts and the formation.

The stone that the to be was stuck with fell out. With it falling the cave started to shake. Pushhhh... water could be heard falling.

"Run! we'll drown if we don't Find an exit soon."

The three ran for lives. The water waved out from the path. The floor was already covered with a thin layer. With splashing of footsteps and water flowing on water the cave was alive with sound.

"I'm sorry." Eos cried while running.

"It's fine, I triggered a trap earlier to." Pace comforted.

"Eos don't worry about it to much, the trap isn't as dangerous."

As if to disagree with Leon a boom could be heard and water flowed out faster.

The group ran as fast as they could. As they moved Leon stopped. Pace and Eos stopped as well.

"Leon why are you stopping the water is catching up!"

"Look in front."

The two did as Leon said and saw a large hole. Similar to the one they saw before.

"Another one? seriously?"

"Exactly what is wrong with this test I thought it was suppose to be short and easy for a lot of people to pass through."

"You're right Eos they are suppose to be easy. Looks like someone messed with the test and added a trap that wasn't suppose to be there."

"What do you mean?"

"This is the same place where we were before. Even our old foot prints are on the ground."

The two looked down and nodded. They were wearing clan shoes that was unique to the Clan. Considering the less amount of Flamesmith members that made it to this round it was almost impossible to have them go through the same path.

"Are you sure it isn't like some trick, like the all the caves combine and its just made to look the same to confuse people." Pace was a little doubting.

Leon wasn't to sure to, "I think we can all hear the water behind us right."

The two nodded.

"You two stay here, I didn't want to do this but if I'm right we just got ourselves stuck in something bad, really bad." Leon said and started climbing down the hole.

The two wanted to come as well but Leon convinced them to stay. After reaching the bottom of the hole Leon walked forward. The ground was wet. He could hear water falling from informant him. Leon ran forward and saw the same narrowing cave, enforcing his fears.

He entered the path and pushed through the falling water section. He tried to climb up but noticed it was sealed by runes. He then ran forward and saw the same floating, spinning formation. This time he climbed the wall next to it and got close enough to see the formation properly.

He cringed seeing it. He climbed down and ran forward. Again splashing through the now higher water level he saw Pace and Eos waiting near a large hole.

They both were surprised beyond belief.

"Leon when did you become a magician! You should tell me how You did this trick, it is really good. Going through there and then climbing out from there, it's like you went through a loop." Pace half said that in fright for the truth and half in actually be living he was right.

Eos was lost for words. She had no idea what just happened.

Leon still trembled at the thought of the formation. He understood everything after seeing the formation properly. It had been altered by weird ancient runes he couldn't recognise. But he could tell they were the reason why space bent and formed a loop. He also felt a similar energy from the added runes. If the Dragon could be summoned it would tell Leon he had guessed right. A large soul Dragon was watching from above smiling and laughing.

"Try to escape now! Ha Ha..." The soul Dragon laughed and went out to find other people to mess with. It had grown fond of messing with people. It had followed Leon around and altered the formation as such as it could from the other realm.

"Cough, I think we entered an illusion formation. I want you guys to concentrate and try to break out, I'll go look for any inconsistencies in the illusion we can use to break out."

"What an illusion formation? How are we supposed to break out from that. Why would some one add one here?" Pace asked

"I don't know, at first I thought it wasn't part of the test. But as I ran through I saw that the water was coming out from no source and the door that had closed behind is open. So I think the test might be to break out in a certain time limit to check our mental capabilities." Leon made things on the go. He wished that was what was happening.

"Sure we'll do it. Good luck brother Leon, try to find some way out quickly." Eos agreed. She really didn't understand what was happening and just decided to go with what Leon was saying since he sounded so confident.

Pace and Eos sat down and tried to concentrate and break out of the none existent illusion formation. Leon ran back to the altered light formation. The formation had weirded draconic runes of that space element added to it. Which was why Leon couldn't understand it.

He couldn't summon the Dragon to help or use his soul energy. He climbed back up to the formation. He put one hand and reached the formation.

Although he couldn't absorb any energy or use his cultivation he could still control energy when given to him. This formation was just that, energy he could control. Although he was no Dragon at altering formation, the Dragon couldn't do much either because it could barely use any energy from the other realm.

Leon used his hand to rearrange the runes. He changed the function to cancel out the formation so it could collapse. He had to try hundreds of combinations until he found one that worked.

He left the formation to break and ran back to Pace and Eos.

"Pace, Eos! come quick! I think I found something!"

The two got up and ran after Leon. They didn't really feel like they made any progress in breaking out from the illusion formation. Leon borough them to wear the light formation was.

"Isnt the formation different?"

"Is it? I can't really tell." Pace said.

"Me too, I haven't really studied runes." Eos answered.

"You two just focus on it. It's our way out."

The two did. Just as they did the formation shattered.

"It worked let's go! We should be able to Leave now!"

Leon then ran with Pace and Eos behind him.

Far away the soul Dragon nodded. If you couldn't break through that, How would I have fun. It then started to maniacally laugh and start it's other plans.
