Overcoming The Beast

Chapter 93 - The Third Round

Leon and company made it out. They looked around and saw they were the only ones. It was now a similar dome shaped room like before, but without the Crystal balls and dense fire energy.

A man who was waiting by walked up to them and said, "Congratulations for being first! Stamp your clan badge there and come back. I'll explain the what the third round is."

Leon and company did as so. They then went back to the man.

"The third round is one of the more easier ones. You just need to fight a beast."

Leon and the rest sighed a Breath of relief. They were done running around everywhere.

"This the list of beasts you can choose from. Although it doesn't matter which beast you defeat a stronger one will give you a better rank and in turn a better reward after this."

Leon looked through the list. As you went down the list the beast got stronger. Eos Saw that there were only two hundred beasts.

She asked, "Do we have to fight them individually?"

"No, you can fight as a team, your score will be lower compared to fighting a beast individually."

"There are only two hundred beasts here does that mean around two hundred people will pass to the next round." Leon asked. He wanted to know how long the competition was going to end.

The man laughed, and shook his head. "Every one that passed here today is just part of the people who will go to the fourth round. There are around twenty more tests like these happening around the continent. You guys barely passed anything."

Leon was surprised. This was at a much bigger scale then he thought. He really missed out being stuck in the tower.

"Should we do individual battles or fight together?"

"How about this at the count of three we each give our answer?" Pace said.

The other two nodded.

"One, two, three, together."

"individual."

"individual."

"What both of you want of fight alone?" Pace said to Leon and Eos.

Eos wanted to fight alone because unlike Leon and Pace she was still at the summoning scholar realm. She didn't want Leon and Pace to carry her. If they chose to weak of a beast so she could fight the points they would get would be to low when divided. But if they fought too strong of a beast she would feel bad getting a share of the points.

Leon just didn't want to summon his beasts in front of Pace and Eos. He would have to summon them one day, but he would delay that day as much as possible.

Pace agreed to fighting individually. He wanted to help Leon and Eos win thier battles, since they wanted to fight individually he would trust they were confident they could fight alone.

Pace and Eos chose the beast they wanted to fight. Pace chose to fight a level two Greenstar beast called the Rainbow Flower pixie. It was a four voidstar beast of the plant element. It was one of the reasons he chose it, even when it was in a higher realm and two levels higher then him.

Eos chose something weaker. She chose an Infernal Demon Swallow. Although weaker then Pace's beast it was the weakest beast at yellowstar rank on the list. It had the cultivation of level one yellowstar. Eos was only at Level seven summoning scholar. Her beast were also only at high levels in orangestar. She was already testing the boundaries by choosing such a beast.

Leon waited for them to leave. They were directed to different rooms which led to a path way and an arena. Over there they fought the beast they chose.

Leon easily chose the last beast on the list. It was a level five Greenstar beast. The last ten beast were all of the same cultivation. They only varied in voidstars. Leon chose a beast called the King Firestorm Wolf. It was a six voidstar beast of the Fire and wind element.

The man was a bit surprised. "Are you sure you want to choose that beast? You know you are only at Level five summoning teacher."

"It's fine, I'm sure."

"If you fell like you can't win, you can give up and choose another beast."

Leon was then guided by someone else to the arena. He went through a long path and finally reached a big battle stage on it was a sleeping wolf.

"You must defeat the King Firestorm Wolf. To give up run out from the door you entered from. Good luck." The man said and left.

Leon summoned the Cold Mist Ghost Dragon and the Lightning Spirit Butterfly. The Dragon was in Its frost snake form.

It asked Leon about the Soul Dragon. It saw everything from the soul book. It had tried to Leave and enter his body to summon itself but it couldn't. It told Leon that it would like to stay in his body rather then the soul book to be safe. Leon also agreed. The page for Dragon disappeared and a tattoo formed on his back.

Leon then summoned the Lightning Griffin from his other soul book. He didn't plan on summoning more beast. These fights were most likely monitored. Leon would summon the transformed chimera as a last resort. As for the Blood Harpy. It wasn't an option. Harpies were rare beast found in very dangerous areas. It was impossible for Leon to get one.

The King Firestorm Wolf woke up. It howled at Leon saying it was ready to fight. Leon was ready to. The Dragon in frost snake form started the fight. It shot a series of Frost Rays at The wolf. The stamped its legs and had a tornado of Fire surround.

The Frost Rays however still made it through towards the wolf. It jumped back and dodged them. It was surprised by the small snake.

The Griffin attacked next. It quickly moved through skills and used the Lightning Hammer ability it had used before. However a sit was about o used Its Basilisk eyes to make the skill instantaneous, Leon stopped it. He had it chant chant the spell. It took a little longer but it formed. It was stronger then the one it used before. It hammered at the Wolf.

The wolf didn't underestimate these beasts anymore. A thick flame shield formed and blocked the hammer. It then howled to the ceiling and flaming clouds appeared.

Leon had the Lightning Spirit Butterfly use its ability lightning shock.

The lighting Spirit Butterfly only knew five abilites: Lightning shock, Lightning Flap, Lightning Mirage and Butterfly dance. It then knew as a variant with the life element the ability: Life sense.

It didn't have much to attack with, but it could dodge.

The clouds if fire started raining fire arrows. The Lightning Spirit Butterfly started to slowly dance through the arrows. It dodged and charged lightning in to its wings. It was using Butterfly Dance. It then sent a lightning shock that was much stronger then before. The wolf dodged the strike and opened its mouth.

Fire started collecting into it.

Leon had the Lightning Griffin form its superficial Lightning God Armor. Leon hadn't added any more tunes yet. It was still weak.

The Lightning Griffin knew the abilities called: Lightning shock, Lightning magic: Lightning Hammer, Thunder screech, Lightning Clad wings and Thunder claw. It had a specialty known as the Basilisk eyes.

The Griffin clad its wings in lightning after the armor and used them to hit the arrows away.

The Dragon hissed and the wolf was bonded by ice chains. The chains papered from the ground and air from magic circles.

The Griffin and Butterfly used Lightning shock. Both attacks hit.

The wolf started heating up. It's body flowers red, it was about it explode. The Fire shot out from its mouth at the butterfly. The butterfly dodged using Lightning Flap. It then shot another Lightning shock.

The Griffin used another Lightning Hammer. It was the only Lightning magic it knew.

The wolf was hit with the hammer, but it also broke out from the chains. It started using its strongest ability. Three tornados of Fire formed around it. They spun around it. The wolf howled and sent a tornado for each beast.

Leon told the beast to avoid the tornados. It had a reaping power that especially made flying beast lose control and spin in the flaming winds. Leon was sure the Dragon and Lighthning spirit butterfly would be fine but the Lightning Griffin would get stuck as it doesn't have an ability to help with movement.

The Butterfly looked to move around the arena as it was teleporting, but it was just moving at high speeds using Lightning Flap. Lightning Flap made it move in one direction at high speeds.

The Frost snake opened its mouth and released a tornado of ice from it. The ice tornado was the exact same speed in that opposite direction of the Fire tornado. They both collided and cancelled out.

The Dragon was holding back through out the fight. It would love to use its Ice Lord ability and freeze the wolf. But it had to hide. It released this frustration by sending out more and more ice chains.

The wolf now expected the chains. It dodged to the side and sent launched fire balls as it jumped around. The Lightning Griffin was stuck in the tornado. It just spun around and was getting worn of by the Fire grinding at it.

Leon decided to unsummon it. "It really needs training and needs to learn better abilities. These just won't do." Leon said shaking his head. He summoned the Chimera out. A Red flaming tiger came out from the summoning circle. It was annoyed that Leon had it hide its majesty, but didn't voice those complains.

The tiger didn't have any fire abilities as it had lost the Fire element. Leon allowed it to use its dream abilities. He could say it was a special variant, or an element he added on to it.

The tiger's eyes turned purple and looked at the wolf. The King Firestorm Wolf got drowsy. It slowed for a second and the chains from the Frost Snake caught it. The butterfly flew to and launched a lIghtning shock.

The Lightning shock didn't do much damage but it woke it up. As the wolf looked around the tiger came out from behind it and clawed at it. It left a cross mark on its body.

The Dragon didn't let this opportunity go to waste. It had created enough chains to completely encase the wolf. The chains came out and covered the whole body of the wolf. Binding on and wrapping around. Only the wolf's head was free. It stared at the beasts watching it.

Leon unsummoned all his beasts the battle was over. He wasn't allowed to kill the wolf, neither could he kill it any way. As the wolf didn't have a summoner like the Capricorn, it was easier to beat. However if he pushed it over the edge and made it a life or death battle it would start using all its cards.

The man who had guided to the arena came back. He nodded at Leon and said, "Well done, give me your clan badge."

Leon gave him the badge. "The Flamesmith Clan? looks like it has talented disciples this year. I've added the points for winning the battle to your name. You can now go and rest. The next round will be in a while. Soon the awards will be given so be ready for that as well."

Leon nodded. He left the hall through the door he came in from. Outside he saw Pace and Eos waiting for him.

"Leon you made it! You were taking so long we thought you failed."

"It was a hard fight but I won in the end. I assume you both won as well."

Both of them nodded.

The man that had showed them the beast list came.

"You three are done with your fights. Go through that door and you'll arrive to the prize collecting area." The man then pointed at the door.

Other people arrived. It was the guy that was just behind Leon and the group in the diving race. He saw Leon and the others and wasn't to surprised.

The man saw him. "Chose a beast to fight and move on."

The boy took the list. As he looked through he saw three beast names crossed out. He then exclaimed seeing the last beast crossed out as well, "What someone already beat the King Firestorm Wolf?!"

He looked at the other three. Then shook his head they were too weak to beat the wolf. There was probably someone that came before them. He didn't think about it to much and chose one form the last ten beasts. He was already on summoning expert level so he had to choose from them to get the most amount of points.

Pace and Eos looked at Leon. They knew the beasts they fought. However Leon went after both of them, so it could only mean he fought the King Firestorm Wolf. They had seen the beast on the bottom of the list and were impressed by it so they clearly remembered it.

Leon coughed and then smiled. He nodded to say that he did defeat it.

"What!" They both shouted.

"Brother Leon I thought I was impressive fighting five levels above myself but you did almost twice that. Amazing!"

"Leon your even stronger then me. That trip back must have really given you a boost to cultivate. But don't think for second I'll let you be the stronger of us two brothers. If you slow down I'll over take you." Pace laughed happily and said.

They then walked out the door that was pointed to earlier. In front of them was a series of steps.

"This should lead to the surface." Pace said.

"Aren't we really deep underground?" Eos asked.

"We are. This will take a while." Pace said with almost no enthusiasm.

"I think we should just ride out beast out." Leon said. He was also done with the competition and wanted to get out of this hole in the ground.

The two came to a realisation, there faces glowed then darkened.

Pace started, "My StarFire is too injured so I can't ride her. Fiona is too small to ride and the Purple Cloud Fish can't do anything without water."

"Me too, My Skyfire Witch is tired and so is my Blueflame Fairy. I don't have any beast to summon either."

"You don't have any other beasts?" Leon asked a bit surprised. Leon was surprised. Pace and Eos had such few beasts. Then he remembered they weren't using any strong soul techniques. "I should help them get a better one later." Leon thought.

"Since we're here I might as well show you something." Leon summomed the Lightning Griffin. The Griffin had grown bigger after the cultivation in the Ephemeral Lightning Great Library. It was now around two meters tall.

Both Eos and Pace were surprised by such a beast. A lightning beast was rare in the Fire Continent. This Griffin also looked strong. It probably had a high number of Voidstars.

Leon petted the Griffins back and said, "This guy was someone who I found on my trip back. He was in egg form on top of a mountain. It was with help I was able to make it back also why I won the last fight." The Griffin nodded happily to show it agreed.

"It's so beautiful, Leon can I touch it as well?" Eos asked.

"Touch it? We'll be riding it out. Hop on." Leon jumped over the Griffins wings on its back. Eos and Pace followed behind.

"Take us to the top Buddy." The Griffin screed and launched of the ground.
