Overcoming The Beast

Chapter 99 - Capturing More beast

Leon landed next to Pace and Eos. He held the egg and said. "This isn't a Griffin egg, but it is a rare beasts egg. You saw those Yellow fire winged wolves chase me right? It's their egg."

Pace and Eos had watched the chase. They were too far to see the egg in Leon's hand. They wondered what Leon had done to anger the wolves to chase him for so long. To think he went down and stole their egg! That was crazy. There was a Greenstar beast in the pack of wolves!

They only reson they knew it was possible was because of the Griffin's speed. It was faster then most beast you could find.

"Leon so that's a Yellow fire winged wolf egg? It should be worth millions of gold!" Pace said.

Eos was also stunned.

"I could only get one egg. So which one of you wants to contract it?"

Pace and Eos looked at each other. They discussed for a while and it was divided that Pace would contract it.

Leon gave the egg to Pace. Pace had already reached the fourth level of his soul technique so was able to from the contract. After it was done he unsummoned it. He needed to buy the materials to hatch it later.

"Eos do you want to continue looking for Griffin? I don't think we'll find one here. I must have gotten really lucky. Since you have to Leave in another day it would be better to go look for another beast. I think you'll like it a lot."

Eos was surprised. She was already losing hope of finding the Griffin. They didn't find any traces. They checked caves and all nests, None were home to a Griffin.

"I think you're right brother Leon. I'll talk to master about finding a Griffin. Maybe he'll be able to find me one. Let's go find the beast you were talking about." Eos said with a smile.

Leon had them ride the Giffin. He now flew in the direction of a lake.

The beast he wanted Eos to contract with was a beast called the Aqua Flame Fox. It was Beast Leon had contracted later when he returned to the Fire Continent. It had died in a month after contracting with it.

It didn't die because of its lack of talent. Rather it was because of Leon's lack of care in raising the beast. The Aqua Fire Fox had been talented in the water element. Leon however disregarded that fact and focused on its fire element. It grew weaker rather then stronger and then died.

Leon had seen the Fox's memories before he it died and knew it lived here its whole life. Aqua Fire Fox were four voidstars beast. But were very fearsome creatures with a Fire and water elements.

They soon arrived to the lake. It was peaceful and had trees surround it. It was already night and so the full moon's reflection was clear in the lake. A few fish swam in it. While the forest was more mystical with beast sleeping in it.

Leon landed at the edge of the forest.

"The beast were looking for is a Fox beast. I know its general location is here. I don't know where it is exactly so let's look around."

"Sure, but do you have any more information about how it looks?" Pace asked.

"It should be small and have turquoise fur. It should have a fluffy tail with a white tip. Also white tipped ears."

Eos and Pace nodded. Eos already felt like it was a cute beast. She was getting excited to find it.

The three then separated to look. They ran for hours and couldn't find anything. It was day and they regrouped.

"Leon we couldn't find it after so long. Are you sure it's here?"

"I'm absolutely positive. Let's expand the searching circle. Eos you have to go tomorrow right?"

"I still have today. The white palace is closer here so I should be able to make it there quicker then before."

Leon nodded and separated. He already had the Dragon in Frost Snake on his head sensing for the Aqua Fire Fox.

The forest surrounding the lake was large. It continued for miles. It had thousands of Beast in it. It was hard for the Dragon to distinguish between each being and tell which one was the Aqua Fire Fox.

Leon had run around the whole day. He fought a few beasts and looked for similar spots that he could remember in his past life. They eventually regrouped at the lake.

It was dark and the three sat. They had there beasts summoned and talked. Pace set up a Fire for light.

"We couldn't find it." Pace said a bit disappointed.

"I was so sure it was here. I bought the information from an auction house. I'll have to go have it refunded." Leon said. He had explained that he knew the beast because he had bought information on it on that way back to the Clan.

Eos also looked sad. "I have to Leave you guys tomorrow. I probably won't be able to see you until the competition restarts. Master said I need intensive training and plans on not letting me have any free time after this."

Pace and Leon felt bad for her. They tried to make her feel better. Pace then smoothly changed the subject to discussing the competition. They talked about how fun it was.

"Leon you never really got to teach me Blacksmithing!" Pace suddenly remembered.

Eos looked confused by the question.

"You see Leon here is a member of the Blacksmith association. He was personally recruited by an elder." Pace said proudly.

Eos was impressed. She hadn't heard about this. She didn't know much about blacksmithing other then the fact you needed talent for it.

Hearing Pace Leon also had sudden realisation. He stood up and shouted, "I need to still go to the Black Smith association!"

Both Pace and Eos looked at the Distressed Leon.

"What happened?" Pace asked.

"I was suppose to go and have my acceptance officially recognised! Mr Tor's Master, Dayton will kill me! He specifically told me to go there with in a year."

"How much time do you have left?!" Pace asked.

Leon thought about it. He had met Dayton at the Sunset auction. It was before he his two souls had combined completely.

"A year should have ended three months ago..."

"Well we can't do anything about that now." Pace said.

Leon sat back down and sulked. Pace got up and sat next to Leon. He patted him on back and tried to make him feel better.

"Leon, with your talent you can easily pass the test and join the Balcksmith Association if you want."

Feeling Pace pat his back, Leon actually wanted to cry. Because of his strong soul he could feel the heavenly oath bond between them growing. Because he had left for the Ice Continent, he had separated away from Pace and the bond had weakened to being almost unnoticeable. Sadly it never broke. It was one of the reasons why Pace knew Leon was alive, his gut feeling was the Heavens telling him that Leon was alive.

Leon knew the Bond would grow with Pace being nearby but he thought it would take time. It had almost reached back to square one. He would have lost all the progresss he made at the Ice Continent.

Leon had been acting at first but now he genuinely felt sad.

As Eos watched the Two she saw a small Fox walk from behind them to her. It snuggled up in her l.a.p and started sleeping.

Eos was so surprised by the cuteness that she couldn't say anything, rather she also didn't want to say anything or she would awaken the Fox.

The Dragon they was sleeping on Leon's head told him about the Fox. Leon looked up and saw the small Fox in Eos's l.a.p. Pace also looked up and was surprised. He wanted to say something but Leon grabbed his mouth.

Leon told him to be quite. Leon then picked up a stick form the ground and wrote something on the ground so both Eos and Pace could read it.

"That's the Aqua Fire Fox we were looking for! It should have been attracted to Eos's friendly and soft sky aura. Aqua Fire Fox are very close relatives to Skyfire Foxes. It might even have chosen Eos as the summoner it wants to contract."

A beast choosing the summoner is something that happened rarely. Beasts normally wouldn't like to gay contracted until they are defeated. Most beast know that it would be better to be contracted. They would grow faster that way. This why there were a few beast that would roam the world looking for a cultivator to contract.

The Fox must have seen other beast be captured. It must have decided to choose Its contractor rather then be defeated and contracted.

Eos formed the contract and the Fox didn't reject. The bond formed. Eos held the blue Fox in her arms and let it sleep. She stared at it and just liked it more as time went by.

The whole night was spent in the forest. In The morning Pace said that he would go and drop off Eos. Leon said that he was going to return cultivate. They said good bye and separated.

"I can finally go look for Ifrit now." Leon summoned the Griffin and went in the direction of the place he found it in his last life.

Ifrit was found near the largest volcano on the continent, Mount Vulcan. It was a beast never seen on the Fire Continent. That is why Leon had contracted it. He didn't recognise and knew it was strong.

Later on Leon had done research to find out that Ifrit was a beast from the Hell Plane. Leon had always wondered why it was at the Fire Continent, but this time he hoped it was here.

Mount Vulcan was a peak source of Fire energy. It wasn't controlled by any clan and many strong cultivators went to cultivate there. Leon didn't even think of it as a suitable spot for the Phoenix egg, with so many strong cultivators it would be easily found.

Leon had considered going to Mount Vulcan at a later time. Now that the competition was happening many strong cultivators were taking their disciples training.

Leon had remembered that when the national team forms. A substitute team also forms. Before the competition a final battle is held and the members of the National team could be changed. The substitute teams were usually made members of high ranking clans. Even though it was unfair there was little resistance against it as they wanted the strongest team to go. If the members chosen from the rounds list they were thought to be unqualified.

It took a few more years until this was finally removed and all the high ranking members had to join the rounds like everyone else.

This was now to Leon's favour.

"There should be a few people, but no one should be at the inner part of the volcano, only a few high elders in the Council of Fire can b.a.r.e to be there." Other were five high elders in the Council of Fire. Four of them had disciples, now five as Eos had become the disciple of Harlan Ash.

All five of them should be busy training there disciples. Thinking of the high elder disciples Leon knew Flint was a disciple of one as well. It was how he got to enter the substitute team.

The volcano was at the heart of the continent. It was surrounded by a land of Fire and ash. It was pure destruction. The heat for the volcano didn't let any plants survive, even fire plants. The ground was dry and cracked. The Sky was permanently filled with smoke and was coloured red.

There were other smaller volcanoes that surrounded it and erupted every now and then.
