Rebirth: The Shadow Of Greed

Chapter 111 - Itai enters

On the right side, Basil's group started the charge, rushing forward, they unleashed all they had decimating the first batch of soldiers that were marching forward. Basil himself turning multiple soldiers into cinders, alongside him Falcor took the opportunity to show off his abilities, freezing all the soldiers that were approaching them.

"This is what a real war should feel like! Let's kill all of them!"

Basil shouted as he launched a fire arrow right in between the brows of one of the unfortunate soldiers The rest of the students following him got even more excited as they charged forward trying to gain his favour. Although Basil was a hothead, one cannot deny the charisma that he holds, with just some simple actions and words he managed to build up the morale for the entire group that was following him.

After clearing off the first batch of soldiers, they picked up their pace as they moved quickly through the grounds before encountering yet another group of soldiers blocking their path making them unable to move forward.

On the other side, with Soli's group, Odrunn, Z and Ashli took the charge, using just their brute force to take out the soldiers left and right. It took a long time to proceed but fighting this way would ensure a safer route for survival.

Z skillfully dodged the attacks from a soldier before he moved behind the soldier grasping his neck tightly with his hands twisting the neck of the soldier before letting him fall to the ground. Ashli was more restrained using tiny precise blows to ensure that she dispatches her enemies with a single blow.

Odrunn however, was nothing like how he was when he was fighting at the trials. After putting on his gauntlets, it limited the movement of his hands making him unable to grab the soldiers, but just by efficiently using the gauntlets, he managed to knock a couple of soldiers flying or even take them out with a single punch. If on the day of the trial he was a truck, the Odrunn now was like a locomotive, it would take nothing short of a miracle to take him down.

Seeing the scene in front of her play out, Soli looked at Arlene and smiled.

"What do you think? Do you think if I managed to recruit them they would be respected in the Aquos family?"

Arlene gave a wry smile.

"They are really strong… But I'm not sure Soli, which one of them do you want to be your husband?"

Soli's face turned red as she punched Arlene on the shoulder before looking on the ground.

Z was still engaged in battle, he had no wasted movements, every punch, kick or jab was well thought out, his battle seemed like flowing water, it was smooth and not at all disruptive.

Odrunn, on the other hand, had totally bashed in all the soldiers that appeared, Ashli was in the centre of the two, her movements were exquisite but not as free-flowing as Z.

Turning their attention to the centre of the stage, a wave of soldiers had finally reached where the remainder of the offense team were. With Vero taking charge, he quickly shouted out to all the students present.

"Don't use your manifests! If you do the next couple of waves coming will definitely be harder and harder until eventually, we tire ourselves out!"

The offense team students turned and looked at Vero if they couldn't use their manifests, what could they do? Were they going to be sitting ducks?

"Those with close combat capabilities and manifests like that move to the front! You will need to take out the soldiers first!"

Itai took a step forward, he was part of the vanguards, but at a time like this, he decided to follow his dreams and make it a reality. As he stood forward, a few students shot him cruel stares.

"What the hell is an unmanifested like you going to do in this kind of situation!"

"You're not even carrying around a shield! How are you going to defend!"

"You better not be giving up so early! It'll affect our team performance score! Little shit."

Vero took a step forward as he put his huge palm on the shoulder of Itai,

"Hey little buddy, are you sure about this? If you really can't fight them, then just stay back, with the few of us at the front it should be enough to handle the soldiers that are coming in."

Itai shook his head, it took him everything he had to stand out of the crowd, he knew that he didn't want to let anyone down, he didn't want anyone to say that he was useless again.

"I think I can do this."

Vero nodded his head as he turned to face the incoming soldiers before dashing in and knocking a group of them back with his shield. Some of the attackers used their artefacts to fight with the invaders, killing a couple of them as they progressed forward. Some retreated from being hit brutally by the soldiers, worried that their HP might drop to zero.

Itai stepped forward, amidst the chaos, a punch was thrown towards his face, he dodged it by moving his body slightly before raising his arm and grabbing hold of the soldier's arm tightly. A second soldier threw a punch and Itai pulled the soldier along with him, blocking off the punch from the second soldier. It struck the jaw of the first soldier hard, as Itai took out a dagger and finished the job.

He was like a fleeting shadow on the battlefield, moving from spot to spot, appearing then disappearing again while landing hits on the soldiers.

Even Vero couldn't keep up with what he was seeing, mostly seeing shadows instead. It had really made him question whether his vision was affected.

Itai was using a skill he had learned when he was younger, it was one that would put a strain on the calves and t.h.i.g.hs of the user, but it would give him explosive speed. He had always been cautious about using that skill, but right now, he felt like it was time for him to shine.

A large behemoth of a soldier stepped forward with a thud on the ground as he walked. Upon reaching in front of Vero who was distracted he raised his gigantic palm before slamming it onto the ground hard…
