Rebirth: The Shadow Of Greed

Chapter 112 - A bad feeling

Upon reaching in front of Vero who was distracted he raised his gigantic palm before slamming it onto the ground hard…

A countless number of soldiers were getting crushed by the giant palm, on the side David sped up as he knocked into a large number of soldiers, breaking their formation scattering them left and right allowing the offense team to easily pick up the remaining soldiers.

It was a difficult fight but with everyone knowing what they needed to do it was manageable.

On the stands, the crowd looked on excitedly as they commented eagerly.

"Wow! They're really going at it!"

"Yeah! Look at Basil go! He's like a war god!"

"I'm still quite bummed that my goddess hasn't made her move though! What's with the boring close combat fighting! Show some skills man!"

Z, Odrunn, and Ashli finished up with the soldiers as they sat down for a rest. The first wave that appeared was finally over, but they couldn't rest completely because the footsteps of the next wave had already begun sounding from a distance away.

Basil and team had already dashed so far ahead that they have already started to engage the next group. Activating his manifest he started to throw his flaming fist at the enemies.

Falcor at the side felt a scorching heat reach his face as he just barely dodged the attack.

"Young master Basil! Are you trying to kill me?"

Falcor turned around and shouted loudly.

"That wasn't me."

Basil said calmly as he handled the fighting with the soldiers.

"But if it isn't you then…"

"Ahhhh! Quick dodge it!"

A painful scream followed by shouting came from the side interrupting Falcor as he turned his head only to see a gigantic palm landing on his teammates at the side.

"This is… Vero's manifest. Which means…"

"These f.u.c.kers stole our manifests. But a copy still is a copy, after all, Just keep fighting. We'll show them who's the boss."

Basil spoke harshly, but it had given his teammates a boost of morale, they all started to put in more effort into fighting as they started to throw all they had into decimating the enemies.

Z's team was caught up with the situation as well, with Odrunn blocking a fireball for the rest of the team.

"Damn it, I thought they'd be smart enough to not use their manifest all willy-nilly.

To think that the situation turned so dire."

Arlene complained as she looked at the situation that was unfurling in front of them.

Z still calmly took out the manifested soldiers. This time, he had used the pieces of 8 like daggers impaling and killing the soldiers as they came.

Odrunn and Ashli's condition was unfavorable to them as well, but they weren't exactly struggling. The fighting had reached a high point as they managed to push the soldiers closer to the castle, being able to see it from a distance.

The Vanguard team was doing pretty well, with just the defense of a single lane, it stood to reason that they would be excelling as they would.

"Looks like the AI is doing some work, it seems like it is learning even faster now. And here I thought that by splitting up the control to 3 points the AI would take a longer time in order to learn."

The chief instructor told the instructor in charge.

"Although the AI is split into 3, the processing is still the same just that the instructions are relayed through the different means."

"Keep monitoring the situation! This AI is the best thing that happened to the company and you have the credit for finding it."

The chief instructor said while smiling ear to ear.

Basil's team after encountering 4 to 5 waves, ended up reaching the gate to the right castle, he stopped as he gathered his team as they sat down and waited for Basil's briefing.

"I'm a straightforward person. So I'll make this short. Inside this castle is the general, killing him will net us 100 points. I'm not going to bother to split it impartially, so let's just go with what the system allocates. Beyond this castle is your chance for a better life, to reach the second year in the academy and to achieve your dreams. In 1 minute, we will open the gates, rush in and secure your future. Our future."

Basil turned around as he stood in position, 2 of the larger team members walked to the door ready to break it down. Basil raised his hands and let it fall dramatically while the 2 teammates of his bashed down the door.

They entered with gusto to face off against the soldiers, at this point the enemy had already mostly adapted to their manifest and are also proficient in using their own.

'Clang' loud sounds resonated from within the castle as the fighting began, bodies were sent flying left and right as the soldiers were strewn across the grounds. Breaking through the courtyard they found the room where the general was held and Basil kicked down the door as they entered.

Z's team finally made their way into the castle, upon reaching the castle Z found something amiss.

"There's no movement."

"I'm sorry?"

Arlene asked in confusion.

"I sense no movement from within the castle."

Z replied as he continued to try to sense the situation.

"Is this an empty Fort strategy?"

Arlene asked again trying to sound smart.

"The empty Fort strategy is them pretending to have a lot of soldiers while they leave the door open in order to deter their enemies. I think this is just an empty Fort."

Z replied.

"How can this be?" Soli asked, "there should be the general within"

"Let's head in and scout around if it is really empty let's head over to the middle castle."

Z and the team entered the left castle and as Z had predicted it really was empty. The hairs on the back of his neck began standing as he started to worry.

"I have a bad feeling about this…"
