Rebirth: The Shadow Of Greed

Chapter 75 - 2 options here

... The man who tried to command North, had his head twisted 180 degrees as he fell to the ground. He fell to the ground with a thud.

The group of underlings all went on their knees immediately, afraid of what might happen if they were to pull the same stunt again.

"We're sorry North! We won't do it again!"

The group of underlings was totally frightened of what North would do to them, or rather what the power behind north would.

"I don't mind killing a chicken to warn the monkeys."

Z said as he left the shadows walking back to the church to reunite with the rest, wanting to share the information at his disposal.

Approaching back to the church the attention of the group turned towards Z who was approaching.

"Where's the other guy?" Soli asked as she watched Z coming back alone.

"Oh, he said he was tired and had something to attend to so he left from there."

Z said as he looked at the rest.

"How's the situation now? Is Sister Agatha alright?"

"She's hurt, but she'll live, my father's healers are pretty efficient. Is there any news with regards to the missing kids?"

Soli asked, the look of concern in her eyes.

"That's what I need to discuss with all of you, thanks to a bunch of good samaritans I've met in the slums, I know roughly who did the deed, but unfortunately, that's about all I know."

Daymas looked at Z intrigued and asked for all the key personnel to gather. This included his aide, Arel Jodithas and his personal guard,  Zeno Mianelis , by no means were these two weeks, they have been following Daymas on his conquest and battles since they were young and they grew up to be strong, talented individuals. Both of them had the potential to head to the Holy capital for promotion, but they both declined, wanting to serve Lord Daymas.

After gathering around Z, he started to speak.

"From what I gathered, the group that took the kids is called the Snake Fang Gang. Do you know anything about them?"

The looks from Daymas, Arel and Zeno turned more serious. Daymas shook his head as Zeno stood by him, Arel tried to find the correct words to phrase his thoughts with a sentence.

"Well... How should I put it? If A City is a huge ecosystem, then the Government and the Noble families are like the Apex predators that are guarding their territory the citizens are like their cubs that are protected from dangers. This prevents foreign predators from entering the ecosystem and stealing food. However, the Snake Fang Gang, are like parasites, leeching off the citizens of A City, the government and Noble families are well aware of it, but they can't do anything about it. The citizens of City A have already accepted the fact that the Snake Fang Gang exists, now they are in a sort of Symbiotic relationship. The citizens think that paying one gang is better than paying a few.

The Snake Fang Gang are a bunch of ruthless people, they extort from the weak and they are quite fearless because of their reputation other gangs will not provoke them easily. Although they might be operating within A city, their base of operations lies somewhere outside of A city and is heavily fortified. Their leader is at the b.a.r.e minimum a high Warship level, with his officers at the medium Warship level."

"But since the government is aware of them why aren't they taking action? Since this time they kidnapped the children, we have proof! We should go rescue the kids and take them all out once and for all! Dad! Why don't we gather the guards and storm their base!"

Soli shouted, anxious about the kids and wanting nothing more than to rescue them from danger.

"Sigh, Soli, It isn't that simple, the Snake Fang Gang although a huge threat is a dangerous opponent, we can't just willy nilly gather the guards and attack them, think about it, for a few kids, we send guards to their deaths in order to rescue them, what's the trade-off? more kids to be orphaned? It's like using money to exchange for money, you'll end up back in square one."

"Zero, you can't just watch this happen right? You're going to rescue them right?"

Soli turned to look at Z, her eyes frustrated and watery, at a loss of what to do.

"Young Mistress, you can't do this, you're urging your friend to head into a dangerous situation. At this rate, he will be in grave danger. No matter how strong he is, he can't destroy their base and fight with so many people on his own. Even with the combined strength of the guards it still is quite a stretch."

Zeno told Soli with all seriousness.

Z scratched his chin as he thought through the entire situation.

"What if we don't attack their base, but intercept them on the point of the sale?"

"How? They have so many routes and so many clients, how can we intercept them? Sending someone to keep watch and follow the transport artefacts is also pointless, they have so many different vehicles coming out of their base of operations that it's a waste of time."

Arel gave his analysis and point of view of the situation, sceptical about what Z had mentioned.

"Do you have a file on the Snake Fang Gang? their sponsors and their partners and routes?"

"I do, yes, we even have someone watching their base, but as I've previously mentioned there are many different routes and many different sponsors, I don't see what will change if we take a look at their files."

Arel opened his Commswatch and flashed the file using his Commswatch, Z walked closer as he used his finger to scroll on the holographic screen.

"This, this, this, they don't deal with children. This organisation is staunchly affiliated with the church, they wouldn't do this for the church. Of all the organisations on the list, I feel that there are just 2 options here."
