Reincarnation: Love After Death

Chapter 23 - Mr. Narcissist

D and Elaia went inside the elevator. Their rooms were located at the top floor of the building. Which is the 35th floor.

They were both quiet.

Then suddenly, the elevator stopped at the 27th floor. Then it blacked out.

"What the fudge just happened?! Elaia exclaimed.

"We're stuck. Obviously."

Even if she can't see D clearly because of the darkness surrounding them, she still knew the smug on D's face were currently present.

Elaia rolled her eyes and crossed her arms, "Great! I'm stuck with Mr. Obviously."

D smirked at Elaia's sarcasm. "Well, if you continue being so whiny. Then I'll just leave you here. Coz you do know that I can transport myself outside this metal cage."

Elaia begins to panic. She immediately tugged D's shirt.

D laughed and pinched Elaia's cheek. "I said I can." Then Elaia's grip on D's shirt tightened. "But I won't."

"Idiot." Elaia murmured then she punched D's c.h.e.s.t lightly.

Once Elaia calmed her nerves down, D's words immediately sink in.

"Hey! You said you can transport yourself. So, why don't you get us out of here?"

"I can't. This is your fate. You're supposed to be stuck in here."

"What do you mean you can't? And how the fudge is being stuck here inside the elevator called fate?"

"Well, the God of Heaven is also the God of Fate. Actually, the moment it blacked out, I already tried to get us out of here. And when my powers won't work, I knew that this is somehow related to your fate. That you're supposed to be stuck inside here."

"So, am I going to die here?" Elaia asked.

D scratched the back of his head, "I didn't receive a memo regarding your death, so no."

Elaia sighed. Somehow relieved that she won't die inside a lonely elevator. And this would be so ironic. To die while you're with Death himself.

"Well, we're stuck here. Actually, I'm stuck here and you're just keeping me company. Tell my anything. Just anything. It may not be obvious but I'm kinda freakin' out right now because it's so dark in here."

D sat down and grabbed Elaia's hand. He pulled her hand downwards, hinting her to sit down too. And so she did.

"Not a great storyteller but here it goes. As I said a while ago. God of Heaven is also the God of Fate. He creates circ.u.mstances that might have an impact to one's decisions in life. Some circ.u.mstances were life changing and some were simply annoying, like being stuck inside this metal cage."

Elaia giggled.

Then D continued, "Let's just say that He was so inlove with mankind that He gave them freewill to make their own decisions. But sometimes He's too meddlesome. He always wants to give second chances for those who commits a sin so that they can still reach heaven once they die."

"That's cute." Elaia said while smiling.

"Too cute. For me. Then, we got to the God of Hell. He was the Mind Reader. He can see your deepest thoughts. Your gravest sins. Bad dreams also came from him, giving you a glimpse of the monster inside you. He rejoices with anyone's fault."

Elaia grimaced "He's awful."

"That, he is. But that's just how it works. We have duties to balance the good and the bad."

"Why can't it be good all the time?" Elaia questioned.

"Because most people learn from bad decisions, Elaia. The ugly truth."

Elaia shrugged and sighed.

"And then... there's me. God of Death."

Elaia giggled. "I can feel you smirking, Mr. Narcissist!"

"Can't help but be proud, babe."

Then they laughed.
