Tumbling out of bed, I'm rudely awakened.

"Dude!" I can't help but scream as I hit the floor crashing hard. As an enraged werewolf in human form is towering over me.

"Peter" I hiss his name, "What are you doing? I'm trying to sleep for f*ck sake"

He growls in a threatening manner as he lowers to pull me to my feet. Sh*t! What did I just say? In my half stupor, half dreamlike state did I really just say his name? A name I'm not supposed to know. Keeping the memories of 16 year old me and 21 (+241) year old me separate, is proving more difficult that I thought.

"Watch the drool… Bad dog!"

This sends him over the edge as he snarls "I am not a DOG!" he screams, sends wads of spit towards my face.

"Then stop acting like one!" I yell back, god I get the angsty emo misunderstood teenager vibe he is going through but he really needs to chill out. It's only 7 am, and I am not a morning person. "Damn it Peter you're thirty not three, you're old enough to be house trained by now"

There's more snarling and snapping of teeth in front of me, as I grab onto his wrist before snapping it away from my collar as he grimaces in pain.

"Sorry, I'm still getting used to my newfound strength, You okay?" I scramble

"I'm fine… Stiles right?" I nod, " I had a few questions on how a newly bitten werewolf not only manages to ride out their fist full moon alone, manage to resist me as an Alpha but now I want to know how do you no who. I. am?" He stresses the last sentence grimacing, as the scars on his face and body which have faded over time and faster than they should flare like veins, it appears that his werewolf healing have kicked in and are doing its best.

"Er…." I can do this without giving away what I am, "Because … Derek told me?" It's true, I did first hear from Derek that it was you who went about murdering hordes of people. So no irregular skip in my heartbeat at all. Not that he would be able to pick up any irregularities given the training I had undergone. I ate Lydia's cooking for months while we dated and pretended she was Gordon Ramsey, if a genius with a 170 IQ can't figure out that I was literally dying from sodium poisoning then I doubt any normal person/supernatural or not could figure me out.

Red eyes flash as he studies me and I smile at him, see I'm a good little Beta wolf. "Hmm, interesting. Derek knows about me 'accidentally' killing Laura, he must not be happy"

"Actually he doesn't.. He still thinks you're a barely functioning human, almost everyone does"

His ears perk up and he touches my shoulder, as he is about to I presume put his 'claws' in to me.

The rumble of my dad's cruiser has my head jerking up, "Dad!".

Pushing his hands off me, he is once again surprised at my raw strength as I hop around trying to put on something clean to wear. Peter is now lounging around at my desk like he owns it, reading on my notes which I have sprawled around about various supernatural creatures, as he smirks at me.

I head for the door to intercept my dad .

How is this my life again?

"Hey Dad" he barely acknowledges my existence as he is reading a case file

"Dad?" I try and catch his attention again.

"Oh stiles, good you're here"

Nodding me head, I point at the file , "What is it?"

"They've found the second half of the body," He says and I blink because I was expecting it to be found tomorrow morning, "A couple kids went out 'jogging' and found it, the girl's still in shock and the boy is a mess himself"

Crap, did not mean for that to happen, he continues, "They found this strange marking nearby, It's vaguely familiar so I came home to check on other case files if I had seen it before"

"Okay"

"With the results from the lab, the first investigation concluded that it was an animal attack, not that I could tell them it was a werewolf, but the body's been moved too far and it was buried… And animal's don't bury kills like that which means the killer is human. They tried to throw the cops off the scent." Hah scent, " I don't know why they did that, something just doesn't feel right"

"I'm sure you are probably just overthinking it dad. There hasn't been supernatural activity in the area for the last decade, you are overreacting because of it."

He hums, "Probably… Anyway stay out of the woods. Make sure your phone is charged and the housed is locked. If you hear anything, you call, okay. I know you are able to take care of yourself, but just call, okay?" He says with a slightly manic look into his eyes.

"Okay" I say it quietly and nod sort of meaning it.

"Good, lock up when you go to school" He hugs me before heading back out.

I listen to the cruiser start up and wave as he leaves, the engine fades and I sigh. He's being sensible and taking precautions, my Dad was always one not to let the smallest detail go by.

The heartbeat thudding lets me know I still have a guest and I decide to drag out the time before Peter tries to question me again. Instead I make a break for the kitchen deciding to make a quick breakfast, nothing fancy, just a quick chicken and tomato stuffed omelette. He has been stuck in the care facility for a while, he should have something nice to eat. Plus, he'll be so busy eating he hopefully won't be able to interrogate me and then he'll have to make his way back to the care home or risk being discovered.

Dishing up two plates, I grab cutlery and some soda before placing them on the table.

"Peter! You can come down!"

He swooshes with the speed of the flash coming to the breakfast table as he makes himself a bit too comfortable.

Watching out of the corner of my eye, I can see him sniff the food suspiciously and then take a very tentative bite. I see the surprise flash over him as he's staring at me, "This is…. Delicious" He pauses over the last word

"Thanks" I take it at face value, grinning as I preen at his praise.

We eat in silence as he's savoring every bite, he even licks the fork clean.

"Stiles, that was the best thing I've had in years" He comments as I keep my mouth shut, a hard learned skill but right now the situation calls for it

"No problem dude. Anytime" I answer frankly

"Don't the scars bother you?" He asks, as I flick my gaze to see that something is lurking in his eyes, telling me he's got some devious intentions

"Nope" It's the truth.

"No?" He arches the eyebrow on his un-scarred side, "They don't upset you at all?"

Oh, so he's trying to a read on me. On what is the best way how to manipulate me, so I lean back and boldly tell him my honest view on the matter, "Scars are just tattoos with better stories."

It's fun to see him so off balance and unsure of what to say or do. Peter normally has so many plans and back up plans that's its hilarious to screw with them, it won't take him long to bounce back so….

"So oh amazing Alpha," I smirk as he looks on " Any other questions, because of not I have class to get to and if you want to go howl at the moon we can do that later"

Peter's face goes into the 'oh what is this idiot saying' look, "Werewolves don't howl at the moon."

"Oh." I put on a slightly disappointed look "This is so not Twilight."

"Fiction?" He looks even more upset than his usual pissed off self "You got all your information from fiction?"

"Where else was I supposed to get it from?" I ask as I dodge his question "This big scary wolf thing, attacks me, bites me to the point of death, the bite heals after one night, I can suddenly hear, smell, see and do things I couldn't do before. I'm faster, stronger and I have to eat twice as much. It all points to something changing, there is no 101 guide on how to be a werewolf. It's not like I can walk into Barnes & Nobles and pick out a book titled: The first moon for a werewolf and what to do when expecting. " I pause and try out my judgmental face "And it's not like you were stepping up to help me, I had to track you down to some care facility"

He blinks again " How did you know where I was? And who I was? And why is your scent up a tree outside my nurse's house?"

He's fishing, but it does blow that he found out I was outside the nurse's home, " Hey because of this" I point to my nose, "I have this cool ability to track scents now, your scent was with her, so logically following her would lead me to you" except it didn't, but phrasing and context changes sentences so I'm not actually lying to him.

"And you know my name?" He points out, so I nod, "You know I'm Peter Hale, but do you know what happened to me?" His fingers trail over his scars as if to emphasize his point

"Oh you mean the thinly disguised murder of your entire family? Yeah I know" I say as innocently as I can, as his heart skips in his c.h.e.s.t and beats a little faster now, "Yeah that didn't take too long to figure out, I think it was all of breakfast before I noticed the fact that the insurance investigator was shady. I mean he had a history of false reporting, which cost him his job. Who is to say he wasn't doing it back then?"

Sitting up straight while acting somewhat casual Peter gives me a harmless smile, the one he would flash while pretending his on your side before stabbing the dagger into your back, "Well Stiles, I can see I was lucky to have bit someone as smart as you" before pausing, "I'm sorry for that by the way" His heart blips, yep that's a lie, he doesn't have an empathetic emotion at all "I was acting on pure instinct, I'd only just became a Alpha after my naive was killed….. it was overwhelming" No heart blips this time, but I do find it funny how his intentionally not mentioned that he's the one who killed Laura.

"I'm sorry for your loss. Was ….. she the body or half the body found in the woods?"

"Yes …. She was" his fierce expression fills his face as he clenches his jaw, "She's also the body that…. You've been in contact with… if your scent is anything to go by" there's a faint red gleam in his eyes which demands an explanation. I have to remember that this isn't the Peter who I knew for 20 years, this is the Peter that will us and then discard me if I piss him off or should he think I'm too much trouble.

Playing my role to perfection, my face lights up as if I just had an Aha moment, "Now, I get it. I wondered why I followed the scent to the old Hale house. I had to be careful though, there was some guy living there. I assumed he was the one who killed Laura? I mean he buried the evidence there… " I pause, scrunch my face a bit " but why would he bury her at the hale house which would raise suspicions if ever found. He also had a very distressed expression when looking at the grave. It was sadness and loss. I don't think a killer would have those emotions in him. I thought…. That by revealing the body, I could flush out the real culprit….

So I wanted her to be found so I moved the body so that dad could find out who killed her. And I thought that if they heard the body was moved, whoever was responsible would show signs of nervousness

Was I wrong?"

"Interesting" He smiles, "If the man you saw at the house was young, with dark hair, a permanent scowl and a fixation with leather then it was probably just my little nephew Derek. He's harmless. He definitely didn't have anything to do with Laura's death, but you could say he was an accomplice to our family being murdered years ago"

Putting on a fake confused look, Yes I deserve an Emmy for this level of acting, "What do you mean?"

"All in due time… For now, stay quiet and unnoticed. You've been doing a good job. I have to back to the facility, they'll miss me otherwise. But I'll come back soon and we will need 'talk' some more" He is definitely implying something far more nefarious than simple chit-chat/

He leaves offering no goodbye.

"I feel used" I mutter to no-one in particular while I am left by myself to clean the table and the dishes from breakfast. Still for a first meeting, this went particularly well. Let's hope nothing unexpected happens today

Did I just jinx myself?
