Scarlet's Awakening

Chapter 30 - Support System 4

Silence...

"Master, please give me a name!"

Scarlet's beautiful face contorted into a frown when the little creature repeated its words with a slightly irritating little pixie voice.

"Yes. Yes. I heard you the first time. Don't repeat what you just said and let me think... Also, stop calling me your master. It's making me feel uncomfortable. Just call me Scarlet..."

The little creature tilted its head to the side.

"But, master, I thought your real name was Sheila?" Her cute little voice asked while blinking her big sparkling eyes in wonder.

Scarlet's surprise was written all over her face. "H-How did you know that my real name was Sheila?"

The little creature giggled and landed itself on her shoulder.

"Of course, I know everything about you... I'm a copy of your brain." She answered in a matter of fact tone. "You created me for the sole purpose of being your reliable companion and secretary. With your modern knowledge and the queen's original memories all copied in my head, I will be your loyal partner and best friend..."

Scarlet couldn't help thinking like she's watching a TV commercial while she listened to the little creature talk. The choice of words and the way it spoke really sounded like an advertis.e.m.e.nt. A cute advertis.e.m.e.nt.

Scarlet sighed. Thinking about TV only proves she really missed her old life.

It's really unfortunate that she died young. If she knew she was going to die early, she would've spend her life travelling and doing everything she wanted to experience on her bucket list.

Yes, she has a bucket list. Even though she's an introvert in her past life, she was a typical 24 year old female inside who watches Netflix and cries her loneliness away while eating ice cream, her favourite comfort food.

And even though she loved her job, she spent most of her time working indoors, being an internet cafe attendant, and wasting her life away. She didn't experience going around the world, meeting new people. She lived a life not worth remembering. Even after death. Now, all she had inside her heart was regret.

"Master, have you decided what my name will be?" the little high pitched voice buzzing beside her ear immediately cut her thoughts off.

She looked at the puppy eyed little creature on her shoulder whose looking back at her with obvious anticipation in her eyes.

"Please give me a name, Master! Please, Master! Please~!"

Scarlet frowned in annoyance. "Okay! Okay... I'll give you a name."

The pint-sized creature squealed in obvious glee, "Yes! Tell me now, Master. What's my name?"

"I haven't decided that yet."

"B-But I want my name now." She w.h.i.n.ed.

Scarlet g.r.o.a.n.e.d, "Will you please shut it for one second? You're getting on my nerves. Didn't I program you to be obedient?"

The blue midget gave her a blank look in response to her last question. "No, master, you didn't. You only programmed me to be a perfect copy of yourself- your brain to be exact, but has more focus in our goals; has the decisiveness to react in all types of situations; has the the passion and dedication of a support system, and lastly, of course; has the humility of a person- almost like a human being like master herself."

"Argh!" Scarlet slapped her own face with her palms and g.r.o.a.n.e.d. This is ridiculous. 'What was I thinking creating this midget?' she scolded herself.

She wasn't expecting that the aftermath of her spell would produce an annoying, juvenile version of Tinker Bell with blue skin and a tiny mouth that generates a deafening voice!

"Master, have you thought of a name for me yet?"

She rolled her eyes when she heard that high pitch voice beside her ear again. "Yeah, yeah. You asked me that question a million times already…"

The little creature opened its mouth to correct her words but she beat the little one to it, "Ayt-ta-tah!"

Scarlet shook her head while cl.i.c.k.i.n.g her tongue, "Rule #1," she raised her index finger as if she was counting, "…Don't speak unless I permit you to open that loud little mouth of yours. Break this rule and I'll severely punish you. Believe me… you wouldn't like that."

Sensing that Scarlet was being serious with her words, the little creature become silent and nodded its head in response.

"Good,"

Scarlet smiled triumphantly and stated her next rule, "Rule #2: You're not allowed to correct me, except when I ask you to give me one. I'm the boss, you're just my assistant. Understood?"

Nod. Nod.

"I will add more rules for you when I think it's necessary. For now, I only have 2 for you."

The little creature nervously nodded again in response.

"Good. You're being obedient." she lifted her hand and offered her palm to it, "Here… Sit on my hand." She said, her tone a little less strict now that the little creature has behaved itself. She couldn't keep talking to it while it stood on her shoulder. She'll eventually have a stiff neck if she doesn't relocate the little devil to her hand.

The obedient little creature flew from her shoulder and settled itself on her hand as she told it to do. It seems like the little creature is afraid of her when she's angry and it's a good thing that she know it's actually afraid of her. Now, she already knows what to do when it becomes annoying again.

When the little devil comfortably sat its little bottom on her palm, Scarlet cleared her throat. "Now, regarding your name. Since the most distinct feature on your body is your blue colored skin, I've decided to give you the name, Navy Blue…"

The little creature's eyes immediately went wide in delight when Scarlet finally gave it a name. Scarlet chose the name since she doesn't know if Navy's a boy or a girl. She also chose it because it's a unis.e.x name. Acceptable for either a boy or a girl.

Navy leaped and skipped on her palm, dancing like a cheerful little child she is with her mouth tightly pressed together. Because of Scarlet's rules, she's stopping herself from shouting in happiness. 'The little devil obviously likes her name. That's good...' Scarlet thought.

However, Scarlet couldn't help her lips from twitching upwards in amus.e.m.e.nt, witnessing how much effort Navy did to follow the rules she just gave her.

Navy's tiny face was slowly turning bright red in colour with its little mouth still tightly closed together. Her head was starting to look like a tomato in her eyes.

Scarlet sighed, "You can cheer if you want. You don't need my permission to express your emotions. You can shout in happiness or cry when you're sad, don't stop yourself."

Navy's smiled, finally opening its little mouth, "Thank you, Master."

"Just call me Sheila..." she corrected before she sighed in exasperation.
