The Adventurer System

Chapter 10 - Adventure Capital

Yumiro immediately clicked the green button on his VR helmet to log back in to the VR world after completing all of his important business in the real world.

Swoosh!

The VR helmet then emitted an uncontrollable radiance that dazzled his whiskey eyes for a few seconds.

....

As soon as his vision returned to normal, he squinted once and saw a large group of adventurers gathered in a large area. Nonetheless, he discovered that he stood up next to the circular sculpture, which released a gentle pressure of water.

His eyes widened as he was literally astounded by the skinny sculpture's glittering splashes of water. So it couldn't help but move closer to it.

"Wow? I had no idea this world could have such a lovely location." Yumiro stated quietly.

He looked around, noticing various types of adventurers with levels ranging from 10 to 50. To learn more about this location, he tried to peer behind the massive statue in front of him, which had 10-foot tall, but he stopped when he received a new notification from the system, along with a familiar tone.

[Do you want to save the location in the Adventure Capital?]

[Yes]     [No]

[The saving function allows players to teleport back to a previous location and gain access to the entire safe zone.]

Yumiro touched the yes sign on the elevated blue view screen that appeared in front of him without thinking too much about it because he only had a fleeting understanding of the notification.

Another tab flashed in his eyes as he agreed to save the Adventure Capital.

[Do you want to accept the teleportation crystal? Yes/No]

[Teleportation crystal- it can be used in a location where a specific adventurer has arrived.]

He accepted once more, and the system bestowed the teleportation crystal upon him. "Is this the item?" He said to himself as the transparent crystal the size of his hand appeared in his left grasp as if by magic.

[Location saved - Adventure Capital]

Yumiro, on the other hand, was uninterested in how the teleportation crystal actually works because he had had too much of it in another area. As a result, he decided to conceal it within his inventory.

"Is that all?" He wondered when the system stopped displaying messages in his notification bar.

"Let's go for a walk in the meantime," Yumiro mumbled, trying not to draw the attention of the other adventurers walking around him.

For a few seconds, he looked up at the clear blue skies and noticed the floating continent next to it. Under the blue skies, he noticed a straight path with a marble surface and colorful flowers on each side.

"?"

Yumiro noticed some adventurers yelling with excitement far away from him. They seemed to be very interested in something that he had no idea what it was.

"I'll just take a look at them because I'm not sure what I need to do right now." Yumiro quickly sauntered to the gathered adventurers, who were 20 meters away from him when he arrived.

A bulky adventurer with a hanged mourning star on his back stood in front of him. As he charged to the cheerful adventurers, he screeched his Cowboys boots on the marble surface.

"Eh! He's only level 11?" The bulk man yelled as he was surprised when the young man with silky black hair effortlessly passed by him, despite the fact that Yumiro had an ordinary pace and the bulk man was running at full speed.

"What's the deal with the boar? Why does he appear so dissatisfied?" Yumiro questioned himself.

<00:00>

Yumiro then arrived at his destination. However, as soon as his feet touched the center of the area. He noticed that the countdown had ended and that the duel with the two adventurers had already begun.

"They're both level 20," Yumiro stated flatly. He then kept a close eye on the young men inside the vast arena made of marbles.

A white-haired young man wore thick faded armor and wielded a red reaper on the right side. Rio lvl.20 fighter was his screen name.

Yumiro caught a glimpse of a young man with long blue hair and wearing leather armor on the left side. Ramir lvl.20 archer was his screen name.

"Is it okay to fight each other in this place?" Yumiro questioned himself, but the middle-aged man next to him overheard his words.

"There's a duel going on, kid!" Yumiro's question was cheerfully answered by a middle-aged man. While stroking his long orange beard, his appearance resembled that of a Viking.

"Duel huh, what are the benefits in this game?" he inquired once more.

"Isn't it true that it will have a benefit in the VR world, that the duel will benefit those adventurers who want to test their powers? Aside from that, because each match is automatically recorded, the duel function can help to increase your popularity every time you win."

"I know some of these daredevils are eager to put their skills to the test. But, as I've mentioned before, why do we need to become popular?"

The man in his forties chuckled. "You had a lot of questions out there, didn't you? Because I see you're a newbie, I'll share some information with you, and guess what? It's completely free. Popularity is used to determine how powerful you are. To be more specific, it is used as a player ranking because, in this world, everyone knows who the strongest adventurer is. Check your ranking; you can see it on the leader board, and you will see your ranking position down there."

Yumiro said as he opened his function screen. "No ranking, it says here that I don't have any."

"Of course, you're a new adventurer in this world, but it will rise once you complete a dungeon raid and win a duel against another adventurer with a higher level."

"OK, thanks a lot, that's a big help!"

Yumiro returned his gaze to the duel match after the conversation.

[Icy Arrow!]

Ramir quickly pointed his silver bow and fired three sharp arrows from above. Then a couple of steps back to keep the distance between them.

Rio, on the other hand, had enough strength to deflect those arrows, and he didn't appear to be afraid of taking any damage. Because his high vitality could cover up all the flaws.

Swish!

The sound of the ice arrows was transformed into particles that the audience could hear. Rio used his reaper to slash each of those arrows.

On the other hand, every adventurer who witnessed their duel already knew who had the upper hand in this fight. Because the archer excelled at long-range combat while the fighter excelled at close combat.

Aside from that, they had activated the duel function, so there was only so much room for them. If the two adventurers had a duel, they couldn't go outside within a 50-meter radius. When an adventurer exceeds the given meters, the adventurer who did not follow the rules will be disqualified from the match.

[Poison Arrow!]

Ramir used poison in his arrow, which could paralyze his opponent for 5 minutes. He also loses 6% of his HP every 10 minutes. But it wasn't easy because Rio had a tough shield that prevented his arrows from penetrating.

Bam!

Rio's predicted match resulted in the arrows landing on the shield.

"Tch! I know I'm the one who was at a disadvantage in this fight, but I need to perform my skill flawlessly so that I can be considered for their expeditions." Ramir frowned his brows, clearly frustrated with his current situation.

It appeared that the duel that occurred between them was more than just a test of their abilities. Also, to see if Ramir's abilities are up to the task of becoming their new party member.

While Ramir was perplexed, Rio had already moved closer to him.

Ramir kept stepping back because he knew he could land any damage within 5 meters. Aside from that, his silver bow required some time to activate a new skill.

"I was expecting this because he's the party leader." Ramir was forced to use his basic attack because it was a much easier way to launch an attack while remaining at a safe distance.

Yumiro, on the other hand, was impressed by the two adventurers' ability to develop strong skills. He was eager to learn a new skill that resembled what he saw.

The duel had a 5-minute time limit, so if no one knocked down in that time. It will be determined by how much the adventurer's HP has decreased. You had a limited amount of time, so you had to push yourself to demonstrate your true power right away.

<02:30>

Ramir smirked as he saw Rio's life reduced by 2% but his health remaining at 100%. Despite the fact that it was only a practice match for the expedition, Ramir appeared to be adamant about not losing to anyone.

[Void]

He continued to release an arrow until his movement became stiff and his body failed to coordinate in his mind.

"Ah, he caught me!" Ramir yelled as he saw on his screen that his agility had been reduced by 15%.

[Fire arrow!]

Until the last seconds, he tried to create boundaries to protect himself, but it appeared Rio's armor had 20% fire immunity, so Rio easily passed into it and slashes Ramir's chest right away.

Red blood splattered in mid-air, revealing the location of the strike. He collapsed to the ground without feeling any pain.

"Jeez! I thought I could get away haha!" He laughed and patted his head all over.

[Winner Rio! W:8 L:0]

Rio, a level 20 fighter, defeats an energetic young man in his first duel. But Ramir appeared to be overjoyed at having gained a new experience.

Yumiro was just dumbfounded and saying the words.. "I want to fight again."
