The Alpha's Prisoner

Chapter 13 - 13: Morgana

Violet went back to her room escorted by Jack. She didn’t say another word after he advised her to think about what she wanted.

Her head was hurting again from thinking too much.

What would her life turn out to be now? She didn’t have much faith that Arden would be successful in rescuing her.

But until that happened, she couldn’t go on with her mission. Even if she was able to kill Jack, she was trapped inside the mansion, with all eyes upon her.

She would never escape.

So they would be both dead in the end.

Now she was starting to think about Arden’s plans.. She didn’t give much thought about his motives when he summoned her to do it.

She just knew that Jack wasn’t a good man, but why kill him?

What exactly did he do against Arden that made the man want to kill him?

Maybe staying inside the mansion, living with the Rebels, would give Violet a better perspective about their ways of living.

Maybe she could be able to understand why Arden wanted to eliminate Jack.

And she would have more time to think of a plan to go home.

For the time being, she would have to play their game. Pretend she was on their side, willing to live peacefully with them as a servant.

If Jack was able to convince the council, which was another barrier for Violet.

Now, she just had to make sure she would live.

At that night, Violet had difficult in sleeping.

Her head was spinning with a lot of thoughts and memories of Jack drinking wine and staring into her soul, which made Violet anxious and full of dirty dreams.

The mate bond was getting stronger as they spent time together.

It was true that she hadn't spent much time with him, but during dinner, she realized how it was almost impossible to resist him, even though she was rested and well-fed.

His aura, his body, his scent… All of that was something her body begged for.

How would she manage to stay away from his arms while she lived there was a mystery Violet didn’t know how to solve.

But again, she didn’t have a choice. She would have to do everything in her power to stay alive and avoid him as much as possible.

When Violet woke up on the next morning, she took a shower and while coming out of the bathroom, she encountered a woman inside her room.

“Ah… You scared me!” she said putting the hand on her chest. “Who are you?”

The woman seemed to be very kind, delicate and looked very young as well. But she was wearing a type of uniform, which gave Violet the feeling that she was a guard or something.

“Hi, sorry to scare you. My name is Lucinda. I’m the guard in charge of bringing your meals from now on.”

“Oh, it’s nice to meet you, Lucinda. I’m Violet.”

The woman nodded with a smile.

“Yeah, I know who you are. Jack told us about you.”

Violet widened her eyes.

“What did he tell you?”

She was really curious to know what he had spread about her to his pack.

Lucinda put the tray of food on the table and turned to look at Violet again.

Violet was impressed that she was being really nice to someone that didn’t deserve.

“He said that you are his prisoner, but we all have to treat you nicely. But don’t get happy too soon. He asked the guards to keep a close eye on you, so… If I were you I wouldn’t try anything. We have orders to put you in the dungeon again if that happens.”

Violet nodded in silent.

“You know, Jack is a very nice guy. He helps everyone and saved a lot of us. I really don’t get why you’d want to kill him.”

She was caught off guard and somehow, that statement made Violet feel ashamed of her actions.

It did seem like she was being unfair to Jack, but she couldn’t say how. She had to see more of him, how he acted to understand it better.

The fact that she would stay there for only God knows how long, was going to make it easier for her to do so.

“It’s just my job, I can’t say more than that. I’m sorry.” Violet apologized.

Lucinda was being really gentle to her. If the situation was different, Violet thought they could actually be good friends.

It seemed like they could get along really well.

“It's ok. I kind of know what you mean. Let’s just hope you can change your mind while you’re here. Jack doesn’t normally give this kind of chance to anyone.” Lucinda said taking her way out of the bedroom. “I'll see you later.”

Violet grabbed a slice of bread and stopped in front of her windows to look outside. The weather was really clear and sunny, and that made her want to go out.

It was already too good to be able to finally see the sun. But how long would Jack keep her inside that room? When the meeting with the council would happen?

The day passed and Violet didn’t really do anything.

She found a few books on a shelf which she tried to read, although she couldn’t concentrate for too long.

In the middle of the afternoon, Violet started to get bored.

She left the books and opened a few drawers to check on the clothes they had provided for her. They were actually something she would wear at home.

It impressed her how they were able to guess her style and size. Was it Jack that did it?

When she found a large box inside the wardrobe, one she hand’t seen before, Violet got curious.

She put the box on the bed and opened the lid, finding a few brushes, paints and little canvas for her to paint.

How could Jack do that for her? He had listened to her saying that she liked to paint and provided tools for her to do it.

That was actually really moving. Violet could feel her eyes burning with tears.

But at that exact moment, someone knocked on the door.

It wasn’t a polite knock, which made Violet confused.

Who could it be?

She quickly stored the box inside the wardrobe again and opened the door, but what she saw was something she wasn’t expecting.

Or better yet, someone.

The most beautiful woman was standing outside the door, looking at her with a very serious and intimidating expression.

The woman had a tanned skin and a long black curly hair, but what impressed Violet the most were her eyes. They were purple, something she had never seen before.

“So you are the so called Violet.” the woman said, but her voice was sharp like a knife.

Violet could feel her body shiver with fear.

“Yes. Er… Nice to meet you…?”

“Morgana. But I can't say the same though. We are meeting the council in ten minutes, so come with me.”

The woman said and turned immediately, making Violet confused about what to do first.

She closed the door and followed Morgana without even checking on her appearance.

She had to at least look presentable if she wanted the council to sympathize with her, if that was even possible.

If she depended on Morgana’s good will to survive, she was definitely dead.

Because from the way that woman was looking at her, with eyes full of rage, Violet couldn’t imagine how Jack could possibly convince her otherwise.
