The Alpha's Prisoner

Chapter 64 - 64: Morning Jog

Violet could feel that she was dreaming, but even though she tried her best, she couldn’t wake herself up.

In her dream, Arden was coming after her and Jack, and when Jack tried to protect her, he died in her place.

She was screaming inside her head to wake up, but her body was immersed on that nightmare.

When Arden came to kill her, after she saw him murdering Jack in front of her, she finally woke up in a shock, full of sweat and also tears.

She didn’t even know it was possible to cry while she was sleeping.

Panting compulsively, Violet grabbed a glass of water by the side of the bed and drank it to calm herself a bit.

The dream was so real. Could it be that she also had the power of foreseeing? She hoped not..

If that was the case, her future with Jack was doomed.

Trying to pull herself together and feeling a tightness in her chest, Violet felt a sudden need to see Jack.

She felt asleep from crying so hard, and she was feeling extremely awful for making him believe she didn’t trust him.

She wanted to make peace with him, but it was too late at night. She would have to wait until the morning came.

Trying to get back to sleep, Violet kept twisting in her bed until she saw the first ray of sunshine coming through her window.

That’s when she decided to get up and start her day. Keep herself laid down wasn’t doing her any good.

She changed her clothes and got out of the bedroom, considering if she should find Jack.

Maybe he was too busy in the morning. It probably wasn’t a good idea to try to have a conversation now.

So she went out for a jog after breakfast, taking the time to enjoy the weather and the wind on her face to clear her mind.

It was really nice to enjoy the morning like a normal person. Watching the landscape made her forget for a moment all the mess that was happening in her life.

Gwen, Arden, the Diamond Pack, Jack…

Nothing was alright.

She didn’t have any clue about what her life would be in the future and that was making her really anxious and worried.

How could someone live in peace without having a perspective for the future?

And what was even worse, now she had a threat hovering over her head.

Violet stayed out for most of the morning, deciding to return home just because she was starting to get hungry again.

She didn’t eat too much before jogging, and it was almost lunch time.

After showering, she went downstairs to have lunch and asked around about Jack, but no one seemed to know where he was.

When she was about to go to his office, she met Lucinda.

“Hey, girl! How are you?” Lucinda asked with a big smile.

“Hey…” Violet answered, but not with the same joy. “Have you seen Jack today?”

“Hum… I did see him earlier, but don’t know where he is now. Sorry.”

Violet shrunk her shoulders, already getting used to the idea of not seeing him that day. He was mad at her after all.

“Is everything ok? With you two, I mean…” Lucinda asked in solidarity.

She seemed a little uncomfortable to make that question even though they were good friends.

“Well… Not really, no.” Violet answered with honesty. “Do you think he’s hiding from me?

Somehow Violet realized Lucinda didn’t want to say that, but her actions spoke for her.

Lucinda pretended to be confused.

“No, why would he hide from you? I’m sure he’ll show up soon. Don’t worry.”

Violet smiled.

“You are a terrible liar. But it’s okay. I really screwed up this time.” she said staring at the floor.

“Come on, Vi. It will be fine. Just give him some time. I don’t think the boss is really good with this whole relationship thing.”

Violet nodded.

Apparently neither was she.

When she was about to say something else, Morgana appeared behind Lucinda.

“Violet, can I talk to you for a second?”

Violet looked surprised for a while, but recovered quickly.

She told Lucinda they would meet later and followed Morgana to the garden.

The weather was still very nice, but some clouds started to appear in front of the sun, making a cloudy atmosphere.

“Is everything okay, Morgana?” she asked apprehensive.

“Yes.” the woman said crossing her arms and stopping to look at Violet. “Actually, I just wanted to tell you something. About Lance.”

Violet widened her eyes.

“Lance? What about him?”

“He was seen this morning a few miles away from here by some wolves from an ally pack, but no one was able to catch him. I just wanted to warn you to be more careful for the next few days.”

“Why? Do you think he’ll try to do something?”

“I don’t think he will, but we can never be too careful. You know, just stay alert.”

“Does Jack know about it already?” she asked curiously.

Why wasn’t he the one telling her that?

Was he so mad at her that wasn’t even able to warn her about something like that?

“Yes, he does.”

“Did he ask you to tell me?” Violet asked looking inside those purple eyes.

“Actually, no. He asked me to tell you, since he got out in a hurry to try to find the man himself.”

“What?” Violet was caught off guard. “He went after Lance alone?”

“You know Jack does whatever he wants, right? I tried to stop him, but it was useless.”

“Oh, my God…” Violet murmured for herself.

What could happen to him? Was he going to kill Lance?

But there was also something else intriguing her.

Lance was seen nearby one day after she received the letter from Arden.

Could it be that he was the one that had it delivered to her? Was he by Arden’s side after all?
