The Chronicles Of Rhaxtyx

Chapter 60 - Fighting Together

"Sir Damian?" (Roman)

"Yes."

Roman heard Damian's voice from the other side of the room. It was relieving to hear a familiar voice but also worrisome. Roman took a more comfortable sitting position and asked in a worried tone.

"Where are we? And how did we get here?" (Roman)

"Well you, my friend, have been brought here by a couple of soldiers while being unconscious. I don't know what happened to you but you were gone for at least an hour so here. Before that, I don't know how long you've been out."

"What about you?"

"Me… Well let's just say that I've been a little bit excessive with some of my actions and words."

"What do you mean?"

"It's basically yelling in the court room. Not much. The real problem is that they know a couple of things wrong. This furthers my suspicion of spy influence."

"So the Dynasties have finally made their move huh?"

"I'm afraid so. They are already this deep in the hierarchy of Herron. I don't want to know about their fighting prowess."

"So, what are we doing now?"

"Well, I don't have any of my weapons and they put enchanted chains around me to prevent me from chanting and casting any spells so, wait for them I guess."

"Ah, I really don't like leaving my fate on that man's hand."

"Join the club. Haha."

"Haha."

They laughed and sighed out a heavy sigh. Without much hope, they waited for a certain man. A man that they would rather not trust in a serious situation such as the one they were in. A man, that was running away from a couple of explosions in the city center while screaming his lungs out.

"How dare you call this a plan! This is not a plan!" (Antaler)

"Well I asked-" *BOOM* "if you had any better ideas right?!" (Rhaxtyx)

"Anything else would be better than this!" (Antaler)

"For the time being, why don't we focus on the subject matter and deal with these assassins soon? Or else the city will have us responsible if we cause any more damage." (Miriam)

"Haah. She's right. You truly were a mad man, Mr. Rax."

"I told you to just call me Rax didn't I?"

*BOOM*

They were running along the streets towards different locations while keeping contact with each other thanks to a {Message} spell Antaler knew. After learning it through being cast it, Rhaxtyx's own mana boosted the output of the spell and they were able to communicate with each other as long as a mana link was available between each other.

The plan was simple, but dangerous. Especially for the surroundings so the cooperation of the guards was necessary. Rhaxtyx would sense the assassins and take all their aggro onto him while the other two would circle around them and they would corner them. Rhaxtyx would do this with his exceptional sensory abilities and draw them into an area where they could fight the assassins relatively safely.

Rhaxtyx would provoke the assassins, which was pretty easy for him. He was on the process of doing that while they were talking. Rhaxtyx was being targeted by explosion type armaments and some fire based spells.

"Looks like I provoked tiny bit too much." (Rhaxtyx)

"Oh really? I couldn't catch it properly because of ALL the explosions happening!" (Antaler)

"Really? Why didn't you said so, I would've told you."

"Are you for serious?!"

"He is." (Miriam)

"What?!"

"He doesn't really understand sarcasm."

"What is this- Haah. Whatever. We are close to the objective. Mrs. Miriam."

"I know."

Rhaxtyx about to enter the slum area of the city where there were very few people living there. The only people that chose to live there were criminals. Not even the homeless people went there in fear of their lives.

"Oh my god! You guys are something really! I've been running away from you and you haven't been able to hit me once. ONCE! How are you guys even been given this mission?"

*BOOM*

"Oooh. You're getting better at this. With a little bit more practice you can finally hit me in about f-"

*BOOM*

"-UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!"

*Crash. Boom. Rumble.*

While he was talking how the assassins would be able to hit him in about five years, he was hit by a {Fireball} and was launched into a building in the slums. He crashed through the building and exited from the other side. He then hit another building and caused it to collapse on him. There were no movements and sounds for a while.

The assassins were watching this from a distance. There were four of them positioned ten meters from each other. They looked for a while just to make sure the target was dead.

"How can this guy have been a threat to #48? He died practically in an instant?"

"Didn't you see how fast he could find our locations? Even #48 is not that good."

"Yes but still. I don't see how he can be such a threat that he is worth what we did now. We practically blew our cover for this idiot."

"#48 says it is worth it. And I believe so as well. This man is too dangerous for us to be left alive. We can always come back and kill the rest of the targets. By the way any new on the other group?"

"None. It's like they disappeared."

"Their target was this guy right?"

"I believe so."

"Then we might have to expect the worst."

"You're right. But he is dead now. Let's just-"

*Crash.*

As the assassins were about to turn around and withdraw, they heard a crash from the building. A big piece of wood was moved and fell to the ground. There was also movement under the rubble. Some parts were moving up top while there was the occasional grunt and crash from underneath. This could only mean one thing.

"Don't tell me…"

"Quick. Quick burn the rubble! We have to kill him no matter what!"

"ROAR!"

*Crash!*

With a roar, Rhaxtyx used {Sonic Boom} and got under the rubble in a flashy way. But his airs would not be for long as the rubble that flew up, came down at the same speed towards the same place. Rhaxtyx had to try and dodge every piece of the building but as expected from him, he couldn't. After a rain of rubble which persisted for about half a minute, Rhaxtyx was left in tatters. But without losing his smile, he wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and talked.

"Now then. Where were we?"

"Boss… He- He is a monster. No human could survive that, not even us!"

"Shut up fool! I agree we should leave but we have a mission to finish. Let's go. From what I heard; the other target is also coming this way so keep your eyes peeled."

"Roger that."

With a few words from their leader, the spirits of these assassins were instantly lifted and they drew their weapons and prepared for combat. For the normal person, a random man just appeared and crashed into two buildings, taking one down in a matter seconds while talking to empty air. For Rhaxtyx though, these assassins were like he placed them to where they were. They could hide from the general public, even from Miriam but they couldn't hide from him.

'It's a shame it's not night.'

"Oh well. I'll just handle you in a different way! Of course I will not have this fun by myself."

After his words finished, Miriam landed beside him and after a few seconds, Antaler descended onto the rubble behind them. Miriam's short sword was drawn and she was looking at the general area of the assassins; she was not sure where they were exactly. Rhaxtyx spat out some blood and cracked his knuckles while smiling and Antaler prepared a spell, making his hands shine in a threatening blue color.

"So, now that we are all gathered, why don't we have a toast!" (Rhaxtyx)

"What?" (Antaler)

""What?"" (Assassins)

"Master?"

Without minding their reaction, Rhaxtyx walked to the poorly maintained street and opened his arms wide.

"I thank you all for coming today for our fight. You guys, want to kill me, and my friend. To be frank, I understand you as we are a threat to what you want. But this is not a domain that you want to enter."

Rhaxtyx's speech came out of nowhere and confused everyone on the scene. While everyone was looking at him, Antaler understood what he was trying to do and started muttering under his breath.

"We don't have much time today, unfortunately, so we have to do this quick but don't worry, because I will make sure you are on your way soon."

Rhaxtyx turned around and caught a throwing dagger. Well, he not really caught it but instead dodged so it would only hit his arm. He looked at the knife and smirked. There was poison on the dagger again. He pulled the dagger from his arm and threw it to the ground. The poison didn't spread too much so it would be quick to heal if he concentrated enough.

"Now that is rude. I am speaking here. But I understand you. I want to fight as well. So we have about half an hour before capable soldiers arrive here. Until then, let's do our best at killing each other."

Rhaxtyx drew his weapon and smiled as he pointed at the closest assassin. He then only spoke one word.

{Fireball}

{Firestorm}

Antaler's voice also sounded out alongside his. He cast a higher tier magic so it took him a while to cast. Rhaxtyx was the same, this was the first time he cast {Fireball} and it took him some time to nail the chant. Even though his {Firebolt} was created from {Fireball} they still required different chants as they were different tiers from each other.

Rhaxtyx cast his spell with his sword as the focus and aimed with it while Antaler's spell was released in a wide area. When Rhaxtyx saw this, he turned around with shining eyes and talked with an excited voice.

"Dude! You have to teach me that!"

"Of course! But we have better thing to do right now!"

"Yeah! Wait, I can learn it like this!"

After talking Rhaxtyx went ahead and jumped inside the {Firestorm} without hesitation. Miriam went ahead and rushed around the rubble and other building towards the assassins while Antaler cast a defensive spell and prepared another one to attack while the assassins took their position. Two of them kept watch for Rhaxtyx, meaning they watched him throw himself in the flames without hesitation while the other two attacked rushed at Miriam and Antaler.

With that, their conflict at the slums began while the rest of the city was on high alert. Military was deployed because of the chaos and were searching for the culprits all over the place. The big {Firestorm} at the slums became a good beacon for that.

Meanwhile, Roman and Damian were still in the prison cell, waiting for their rescue. Roman, out of frustration, tried to pry the chains but it was for naught. They were aware of the turmoil in the city as there were people moving around and yelling inside the prison and outside was the screams that made their way all over the city.

Rhaxtyx came out of the spell butt-n.a.k.e.d with a big smile. The assassins were instantly dealt mental damage because of this.

'It is fortunate that Miriam didn't see this.'

"Well then. I suppose you are my waiters? I'll have a meat dish served with wine please."

After speaking, the assassins were confused by what the Rhaxtyx said. He used this opportunity to attack and would one of them but these assassins wouldn't go down that easily.
