The Chronicles Of Rhaxtyx

Chapter 59 - Companion's Crisis

Rhaxtyx immediately got up from the table and headed downstairs. Not knowing what was going on, Antaler followed behind him, talking with the waiter at the door about the check. After that he caught up to Rhaxtyx who was looking around just a few meters from the door. Nearly everyone was outside and were looking towards the black smoke cloud just a few blocks away. Antaler caught Rhaxtyx's shoulder asked in a confused manner.

"What is going on? Do you know that person?"

"Yeah, she's one of my companions. She must be being chased or something, she's not the type to create trouble."

Rhaxtyx then turned to him and talked with a solemn voice. His eyes were serious as well.

"I know you have a high standing with how you act and talk. And I know you are not a bad person like other with your power. So I do not want to cause you any trouble but I am going there."

"Don't worry about me. If I am with you, I might be able to help you in either way."

"Good. Thank you."

They shook each other's hands and then started walking towards where the explosion was. The smoke was still rising so it wasn't hard to find the way. While running, Rhaxtyx turned around to Antaler.

"Can you fly or levitate?"

"Do I look like a fairy?!"

"I mean the spells, dumbass."

"Dumbass?! Che, yeah I know how to {Fly}"

"Good. Then follow me!"

After saying so, Rhaxtyx enhanced his leg muscles and jumped to a nearby building's roof. Antaler was surprised to see this and his eyes sparkled. There was only one thing on his mind at that second: 'It would be awesome to experiment on this guy. Or with him!'

When Rhaxtyx landed, he felt a blood thirst directed at him but it only lasted for a second. Without giving it much thought, he looked for Miriam and sure enough, she was making her way towards him. She dodged and blocked something from time to time and it was obvious that she was starting to worry about it as there were sweat drops on her forehead. As she approached, the attacks at her also stopped and she finally relaxed a little bit, not completely dropping her guard. She landed in front of Rhaxtyx and bowed her head.

"Master-"

*Swish*

Just as she was about to speak and report to Rhaxtyx, the person himself reached behind her and caught a throwing knife. He not really caught it but stopped it by making it stab his hand. His hand was bleeding a lot and his veins started turning black.

"Master!"

"Kuh. Damn. There was poison huh? This'll take while to heal. In the meantime, let's go."

"Mhm."

"Hey! What the hell man that was awesome! You have to-"

"Follow us!"

Just as Antaler finished his chant and flew up to the roof, Rhaxtyx and Miriam jumped to another one. Antaler looked at them with surprise and couldn't help but shout.

"Oh come on!"

But he still continued to follow them. The way the trio went towards had a guard outpost and the guards were, understandably, were moving around. When they saw two people land in front of the outpost down from the roof and one other landing after flying, they became alert and drew their weapons. One of them had in injury on his hand while the woman matched the description of the perpetrator. So they immediately closed in on her.

"Mister stand back! This woman is dangerous!"

"Shut up! Miriam you okay?"

"Yes master. Although a little tired, I have no injuries."

"Good, let's head inside for now. Out here we are-"

"Stop ignoring us! So you are her master huh? Then you are a criminal as well!"

"Criminal? Miriam did you do something?"

"No master. Although, the explosion before… They probably think I did it."

"I see. Well she didn't do anything so get out the way. I have to take a look at this still."

Rhaxtyx waved his bloody hand, splashing blood everywhere. The guards took a step back and looked at each other. When they were about to move in and apprehend these two people, another person landed in front of them. He looked at them and spoke in a serious tone.

"I vouch for these two people. They are innocent and if we don't get in now, the attack will continue I'm afraid." (Antaler)

"And you might you be? Do you know who you are talking to?"

"I know, city guard. Do you?"

Antaler took out a badge from his c.h.e.s.t pocket and showed it to the guard. The guard's face paled and his eyes were fully open. He bowed at Antaler, apologizing. Antaler made him stop and told everyone to gather inside.

When they were inside, Rhaxtyx sat down to one of the chairs immediately and focused his mana on his hand while Miriam was holding the knife, ready to pull out any second. Rhaxtyx looked at her and nodded, signaling Miriam to pull the knife. When she did, black blood splashed everywhere and voices of disgust sounded out from the surroundings.

The floor where the blood touched began decaying immediately and some guards who were close started backing away in fear. Antaler was shocked to see this and looked at Rhaxtyx, which had his eyes closed and was holding his hand. His injury started healing and his veins turned to their usual color from black.

"Phew! That solves it. Now, about that guy. Do you know who, Miriam?" (Rhaxtyx)

"No master, I do not. I couldn't locate the person but I am sure they are an assassin of the Dynasties."

"Dynasties huh? That explains some things. Those bastards have-"

"Wait wait wait. Hold up. Time out." (Antaler)

"Yes?"

Antaler cut Rhaxtyx's sentence and entered the conversation with a confused look on his face. His eyes were on Rhaxtyx's hand and the knife on the ground. The floor still had smoke coming out of it and some soldiers were looking at Rhaxtyx like he was a beast of some kind.

"That is one strong poison. How are you even able to be okay?" (Antaler)

"Oh now that you mention it." (Rhaxtyx)

Rhaxtyx stood up and walked towards the knife. He grabbed it and looked at the ground. There was still a small puddle of poisoned blood on the ground that was eating away at the floor boards. He crouched and reached for it under the disbelieving eyes of the surrounding people. Just as he was about to touch it Miriam stopped him.

"Master."

"Hmm?"

"You don't have to. I know how to create that poison as well."

"Ah thank you. I didn't know how to take it anyway. Haha."

*Sigh*

Everyone sighed after hearing that. Rhaxtyx walked to a window and looked outside. There were still screaming around because of the explosion. He looked around to find the attacker but there was no luck, yet. Antaler came to him and started speaking while also looking outside.

"What are you thinking?" (Antaler)

"I think the attacker is not around anymore." (Rhaxtyx)

"How so?"

"Because no one can hide from my eyes. If I can't see them then that means they not around. Miriam."

"Mhm?" (Miriam)

"Do you know where Roman is?"

"He said he was going to meet an old acquaintance, a fellow blacksmith. But I don't know where exactly."

"No problem. I can find him if necessary. I just hope he wasn't attacked as well."

"I hope so too. He cannot be compared to these assassins."

"Yeah, they were really strong."

"Hmm? You were attacked as well?"

"Yeah. In a magic shop nearby by a group of eight. Antaler here and I fought them off."

"Hello!" (Antaler)

"Greetings. Did you kill them?"

"No we didn't. Well I at least know that I only killed at most one or two of them by accident."

"As expected, you cannot really control yourself."

"What? They were too weak!"

"Too weak he says." (Antaler)

"But they were!"

"Forget about that what are we going to do against this new guy?" (Antaler)

"Well, I think I have something in mind that you can call a plan. But I am not too sure as it requires a lot."

"Just tell us already."

"No. If he's saying it like that, I'm pretty sure it is impossible for the common folk." (Miriam)

"Oh, Miriam. What do you take me as?"

"A mad man that is so endlessly curious that he even disregards his own safety and the well-being of his companions. Some of your actions actually make you look like an idiot as well, for the most part. You should tone down your brain a little bit as it is really not in the realm of common sense. Your so-called plans are also similar in nature, making it impossible for normal humans." (Miriam)

As Miriam spoke, Rhaxtyx received mental damaged and squirmed on the ground. After Miriam finished speaking, he spoke in a pained manner.

"That was too frank, Ms. Miriam."

"But it is the truth."

"Ugh!"

Rhaxtyx finally stood up while supporting himself with the wall and wiped the sweat from his forehead. His incredible regeneration didn't only apply to his body after all. He then started speaking, telling his plan to the people inside the outpost.

Meanwhile, Roman opened his eyes in a dark and damp room. There weren't any windows and the only light source came from a slit under the wall or door. His head was aching so he tried to massage it a bit but when he moved his hands, he heard a scraping sound. When he felt it with his hands, he understood that his hands were tied to each other with metal clamps and chains.

"What the hell?" (Roman)

He tried to get up but couldn't move his legs as good because they were also chained together. He could try to stand up but he was too tired and his body was aching too much for that. He tried to remember what happened.

He was in the blacksmith shop of one of his old friends, back when they were both just apprentices. They were having a conversation and then some guards entered the shop and apprehended him. This was all he could remember before he lost consciousness.

"I can't seem to remember what happened too clearly. Maybe because my head hurts and I can't focus enough?" (Roman)

While he was thinking out loud, he heard another voice just in front of him. It was a familiar voice, a voice he came to know for the last couple of weeks.

"You finally awake my friend?"

"Sir Damian?"
