67. Drawing Lots

Under the scorching sun, everyone was sweating profusely but still in high spirits.

The large square was crowded with the cultivators who came to attend the assessment. The number of the attenders there was nearly one thousand. As the assessment was about to begin, every cultivator started to get nervous.

It was said that the assessment was very strict and half of the attenders would be eliminated from the first test. Some cultivators here had already attended the assessment for several times, so they were quite familiar with the tasks in the assessment. However, there was no chance for them to cheat because the tasks were assigned to the attenders randomly.

No one knew which task they would receive, so the only way to pass the assessment was enhancing their own cultivation.

As a sharp twitter sounded in the large square, the heated discussion among the people there suddenly stopped. Everyone gazed intently at the landmark building of the Green Nether Union.

On the top of the building, a green figure walked out. It was a cold-faced young man who had an imposing manner with his tall and straight body. He overlooked the people down there like a God who could tread everyone underfoot. Although it made others feel uncomfortable, they knew that this young man was truly powerful enough to do so.

The young man was Ming Qingyu, one of the most gifted men in the Netherworld and also the person who took charge of the assessment this time.

“Everyone, listen, the content of the assessment this year is just like the one last year. The Union will assign the first task to you according to your cultivation level. The time limit is ten days. If you don’t finish the task in ten days, your task will be considered as a failed one.” Ming Qingyu’s indifferent voice echoed in the sky overhead, and everyone only felt their ears buzzing.

The next second, Ming Qingyu’s voice was transmitted to their brains clearly.

However, the cultivators still felt dizzy due to the deafening voice. Some weaker ones of them even wanted to vomit due to the giddy feeling.

This could be considered as the first trial.

The cultivators who had attended the assessment before already made precautions against Ming Qingyu’s action by directing the Spiritual Energy in their body to their ears. Thus they all avoided being harmed, but the ones who hadn’t prepared for this were all pale.

After Ming Qingyu said that, ten staffers walked out of the gate of the Green Nether Union, each of whom carrying an iron box. As they reached the tables placed in front of the gate, they put the boxes on the tables and stood a few steps ahead of the boxes.

Then Ming Qingyu spoke on the top of the building again,

“There are ten boxes in front of you, inside which are the tasks we prepared for the cultivators in different cultivation levels. From left to the right they are the first grade to the ninth grade of the Heaven God realm and at last the God King realm. The tasks for the cultivators in the God King realm are different from the ones for the cultivators in the Heaven King realm. The cultivators who are called by the staff should draw lots in the iron box. The thing written on the lot is going to be your task. From this moment, you have ten days to finish your task.”

As his voice faded away, the ten staffers stared to read the names on the application forms.

All the attenders on the square had already lined up in front of the boxes which matched their cultivation level. Since the Green Nether Union had already tested their cultivation base, no one dared to sneak into the groups in which the cultivators were in lower level than them. If one was caught cheating, he was quite likely to be disqualified.

While every attender down there was full of passion, Ming Qingyu who stood on the top of the building frowned.

As he glanced over the people on the square with his sharp black eyes, he didn’t find the one he was looking for.

Right at this moment, a man came up behind him. It was Nangong Li. His calm face showed a bit solemness, but the gentle look in his eyes made him look less intimidating.

Unlike Ming Qingyu, the cultivation of Nangong Li was rather unfathomable.

However, he never used his power to force anyone. The most outstanding thing about him was that he treated everyone fairly. Therefore, he was trusted by everyone and had never been questioned.

On the contrary, Ming Qingyu, known as the most talented cultivator, never missed a chance to put on airs on any occasion. So it was not easy to get along with him. However, in a world where only the strong survived, the powerful people always gained others’ respect. As a result, Ming Qingyu’s status in the Green Nether Union was second only to Nangong Li’s.

“Qingyu, you should know your own duty. If you can not take something lightly, it’ll only harm your own cultivation, let alone that you are not even qualified to stand in front of the King now. Please take my advice, do not offend the King!”

Nangong Li gave Ming Qingyu a hint straight away. He believed that the latter was clever enough to understand his words.

The look on Ming Qingyu’s face suddenly changed a bit. As he moved his lips and tried to say something, a loud roar suddenly came through from above his head.

With the thunder-like roar sounding in the sky, the huge figure of the silver tiger fell on the square from the sky. The crowd dispersed in terror while a white figure showed up on the back of the silver tiger…
