93. Jade Slip

That indifferent voice came from the soul of Feng Xi with inherent coldness. As he listened to that carefully, he found that voice even a bit ethereal.

With his body suddenly shivering, Feng Xi was choked with words at once. Then he blinked his eyes and found that he was the only one who could hear that voice which sounded a bit cold. Feng Xi had a feeling that his leader was a bit angry now.

“What did you just say? Say that again.” Carendra pulled Feng Xi’s hand and asked in a hurry.

Feng Xi’s tone sounded too breezy. Although Carendra was a bit suspicious, he didn’t think that he had heard it wrong. Having a glimmer of hope was better than being hopeless. Carendra would never give up a chance to raise his cultivation level. Also, he had a vague feeling that the boy’s background was not simple. Nonetheless, Carendra knew all the powerful families in the Netherworld and never heard of a Young Master like this from any forces. Therefore, he was still a bit sceptical.

After being pulled by him, Feng Xi came back to his sense right away.

Seeing the anxious look on Carendra’s face, he remembered what he had just said at once. Then he recalled his leader’s words and realized that he had to finish this quickly.

“I said that I can help you raise your cultivation level, but I have something urgent and can not stay here too long. I’ll find you when I come out. That’s it, remember to wait for me!” Feng Xi said that quickly. After that, he ran out of the arena without waiting for Carendra’s response and even forgot that he was still in a match right now.

The one who got out of the arena first in a turn-based match like this would lose, even if he walked out of the arena by himself.

Feng Xi ran so fast and his buddies didn’t even have time to remind him of that. As a result, they could only watch their master running toward them at a fast speed without giving them a chance to respond.

The audience were also shocked by the boy’s action.

Although Feng Xi had suffered a surprise attack, he hadn’t been injured. Therefore, the match should still continue. Now that he had run out of the arena by himself to everyone’s surprise, which meant he had given up the competition, the first place would belong to Carendra then.

The audience burst into an uproar when seeing that.

Although they didn’t know what had happened, the people who didn’t know the truth only came up with one explanation, which was that the boy decided to surrender the first place to Carendra because the latter had saved him. That was the only reason they could think of.

As a sharp roar suddenly echoed in the clouds, a colorful figure flew to the sky right away. After the colorful Demon Beast drew a beautiful arc in front of everyone quickly, it flew far away and gradually became a vague spot in everyone’s eyes. At last, the audience lost sight of the Beast as well as the boy on its back.

They all stared at what had just happened in a daze.

Carendra raised his head to look at the figure which had just disappeared. In the sunlight, his handsome face seemed more dazzling. As the bloodthirsty aura around him gradually faded away, he seemed more like a warm person. However, the look in his eyes was complicated, so it was hard to tell whether he trusted Feng Xi’s words or not.

While Feng Xi was on the back of the Beast on the sky, he saw the Heaven Peak Palace which was the symbol of the supreme power.

The majestic Heaven Peak Palace towered up towards the sky, being partly visible and partly hidden in the clouds, which made it look more mysterious and sacred!

Hairless Chicken chirped in the sky and then flew to the Palace at a faster speed. After fifteen minutes, the group of people showed up in front of the Heaven Peak Palace. The firm barrier was wrapped by layers of dense spiritual energy as usual, behind which was the gate of the Palace.

As Feng Xi jumped from Hairless Chicken’s back, God of Books and God of Bad Luck followed him right away.

“Master, what happened? Why did we come back so quickly?” God of Books still couldn’t figure out why his master had changed his mind in the middle of the competition.

Hearing that, God of Bad Luck who sat beside God of Books nodded immediately since he also had such doubt.

“My leader told me to come back just now.” Feng Xi said with a confused look.

The two Gods looked at each other at a loss, thinking, ‘Is it possible that the King has watched the whole process of the match? Is he going to hold us responsible for what happened?’

“Master, did His Majesty tell you why?” God of Books asked that in panic.

“No, but we’ll know very soon when we get in.” Feng Xi didn’t think too much, but was also a bit afraid since he remembered how serious the King’s voice had sounded.

When they wanted to pass through the barrier, the spiritual energy around the barrier suddenly started to surge. An arm-wide crack was opened slowly in front of Feng Xi. The next second, a solitary white figure showed up behind the barrier while the icy cold words also came to Feng Xi’s ears,

“Young Master, His Majesty is waiting for you in the Quiet Stage Palace!”

Feng Xi was startled by Uncle White who had shown up all of a sudden and took a few steps back subconsciously. Hearing his words, the boy gave an awkward smile and said, “Uncle White, what are you doing here?”

“I’m here to bring you back at the order of His Majesty.” Uncle White always answered all of Feng Xi’s questions, but his voice still sounded glacial.

With Feng Xi’s forehead breaking out in a cold sweat, he walked into the barrier with small steps while wearing a half smile, “Then I’ll go in first, take your time!”

After saying that, Feng Xi slipped away at a fast speed as if there was something chasing him. His buddies responded more slowly than him. When they came back to earth, their master’s figure had already disappeared in the corner. God of Books nodded to Uncle While awkwardly with a smile while planning to escape like Feng Xi. However, the moment he took one step, a cold voice came through behind him, which made Feng Xi’s buddies feel their blood frozen.

“You three, come with me!”

Feng Xi was too busy running for his life and completely forgot about his buddies. Only when he could see Uncle White’s figure disappear did he let out a sigh of relief.

The Quiet Stage Palace was as peaceful as usual with a faint sandalwood fragrance floating in the air. There were four maids standing by the door with no expression on their faces as if they were live statues. However, when they saw a black little head popped into the door gingerly, they all couldn’t help but show an amused look.

The boy rolled his black eyes and glanced at the Palace as if he was looking for something.

Perhaps it was because he hadn’t found the person he was looking for. He then focused on the four maids. With a fawning smile showing on his cute face, he asked the maid who was closest to him in a low voice, “Sister, do you know where my leader is?”

That maid finally couldn’t hold it back anymore and laughed out loud. The boy hushed right away to let her stay quiet, in case the person inside the palace would be disturbed.

“Young Master, don’t worry, the lord of the Ghost World happened to ask for His Majesty, so His Majesty has just left.” The maid told Feng Xi kindly. As the boy was about to jump up with his eyes sparkling like the stars in the sky, the maid added some words which sent him straightly from heaven to hell, “But His Majesty said that you should wait for him in the palace, so you’d better get in right now, Young Master!”

The boy, face turning depressed, pouted and asked reluctantly, “Sister, have you seen the look on my leader’s face when he told me to come back?”

The four maids looked at each other without saying anything. At last, the maid who had talked with him before said, “Young Master, we are just maids, how can we see through His Majesty? Your question is too difficult for us. However, when His Majesty has left, he said that if he wasn’t here when you came, you should wash yourself clean and prepare to get beaten on your butt!”

After saying that, the four maids covered their mouths and started to titter.

It only depended on the boy whether he would believe the maid’s last few words, but she did have conveyed the King’s meaning in an exaggerating way.

“Humph! I won’t play with you guys anymore!”

Feng Xi, the little boy, perhaps knew that he had been teased by them. Therefore, he stopped hiding there and swaggered into the Palace while uttering some seemingly threatening words. Well, actually, he had to get in anyway.

The four maids laughed unrestrainedly behind Feng Xi.

In the meantime, Feng Xi pouted while climbing up to the seat on which the King usually sat to deal with official business. Now that Feng Xi had nothing to do, he suddenly felt bored. If he had known that the lord of the Ghost World would come, he would definitely come here later. ‘That is such an unwise move!’ He thought.

While he was staring at the crystal table in a trance, he suddenly remembered that when he had just come here, the second thing he took a fancy to was this crystal table, and the first one was the gem on the forehead of his leader. The silver blue crystal table looked extremely gorgeous. At that time, he had thought that if he could sell this table, he would definitely earn a lot of money. Unfortunately, the crystal had been fixed on the ground and he was not able to move it at all. At last, he had to give that idea up and focused only on the Demon Beast Eggs.

There were lots of jade slips on the crystal desk which were placed in order according to their colors. In Feng Xi’s view, those slips were like the statements which the officials sent to the emperor.

The colors of the slips stood for the degree of secrecy of the contents which were written on them. From low to high, they were cyan, blue, green, purple and red. The things which were recorded on the red jade slips were the most essential things. Most of the time, there would be an inhibited art set in the jade slips. The people who wanted to see what was on the jade slips should know how to break that art.

The purple jade slips were used to record things which were less confidential than the ones on the red slips but still very important and needed to be deal with urgently. Most of the time, the things which the people of the Underworld and the Ghost World can not decide would be written on the jade slips to send to King of the Netherworld. However, the jade slips of the red and purple colors were rarely seen.

Feng Xi had heard that from God of Books, so he glanced at the desk randomly. He didn’t expect that he would see a purple jade slip.

Since he was bored anyway, he didn’t think too much and took up the purple jade slip right away. However, the moment he touched the jade slip, the King who was in the side palace suddenly changed the look on his face with the gem on his forehead flickering.
