The Phoenix's Legion

Chapter 42 - Hunter's Clash

The battle between vampire and man has claimed many lives and with the caber brotherhood turning into wolves the size of bears, many more lives are destined to be lost. Within the battlefield Von Drake has reunited with his former hunter and brethren in the form of Drago, Anabella and Gilgamesh.

Von Drake: "Anabella my dear elder, when last we spoke you could barely move and now look at you, your beauty and strength restored."

Anabella: "you could have been a part of this if you didn't get involved in a selfish king's war."

Von Drake: "you mean become part of a dark abomination that made that prince your new leader, I am not a hunter anymore but I can still feel the darkness you have chosen to bargain with, I can hear the voices."

Gilgamesh: "it's too late for regret now, we can only look to the future now."

Von Drake: "future? You mean a future where hunters permit Lycan's to roam the earth? I will not allow such a thing to happen, I'll kill you all and when Raziel is done with Titus, the vampires will kill Ragna and his dog army."

Drago: "not while am still breathing!!!"

Drago charged towards Von Drake with his silver spear but the mighty blue armoured swords man blocked his attack without effort. Gilgamesh and Anabella attacked in perfect unity but like Drago their attack was easily dealt with, Anabella feared that the mighty swords man may be too much for all three of them to handle. In his years as an immortal, Von Drake was the mightiest swords man the silver hunters had, even when he chose to abandon the hunters none of them were strong enough to stop or punish him.

Anabella: "in all my years there was no swordsman greater than Von Drake and with a silver hunter's sword still in his hand as well as the speed and strength of a vampire we must rely on magi techniques."

Listening to Anabella Drago summoned his fire and turned his eyes red, activating the vampire eyes that wear surgically given to him, he could see all of Von Drakes vital points but the blue knight's stance shielded all of them. The prince blasted a barrage of fire balls at the vampire elder to distract him, Gilgamesh followed by attacking Von Drake in close combat, keeping his attention off Anabella who was charging a blasphemy attack that would kill him instantly.

Despite the best efforts of the two silver hunters they just couldn't gain an advantage over Von Drake, an opening had presented itself to Von Drake, the silver hunter Anabella was unguarded and without delay the vampire elder charged towards her with the intent to kill. Catalina had entered the battle and shielded Anabella from harm, being a wielder of silver duel knives she was a master martial artist, close combat was what she d.e.s.i.r.ed more than anything. Catalina couldn't help but get excited at the opportunity that she had been gifted, a chance to match her skills with a legendary silver hunter.

Von Drake: "this little girl is a bold one."

Catalina: "my husband has his sword, my king has his spear, my queen has her magic but I have my fist and knives."

Catalina shocked the others with how well she could fight against the vampire elder, she achieved as much as actually cutting his face. In all the centuries that past many hunters forgot just how skilled of a fighter Catalina was, had Von Drake been human she would have easily killed him. Drago and Gilgamesh rushed to her side in order to maintain the advantage, Von Drake had been overwhelmed and eventually was beaten to his knees.

Gilgamesh: "you should have known that hunters fight as a single unit, even as great as you are you couldn't possibly think that you could defeat as all."

Catalina: "I say this with a heavy heart but it is time to meet your end Von Drake, now regain what little honour you can regain as a silver hunter and except your execution."

With Anabella's magic fully charged she blasted it towards Von Drake and declared the fight over, the magic heat Von Drake and all the hunters fled from the might of the blast. Anabella with a smile on her face looked at her fellow hunters with pride when suddenly another silver hunter from out of nowhere was standing next to her. She felt a pain coming from her stomach and saw a silver great sword had completely gone through her, it was the vampire elder Von Drake who had somehow summoned the full strength of a silver hunter. He was dressed in a silver armour and wielded a silver great sword, with a red cape as that of the last great hunter elder Anabella.

Von Drake: "you think that numbers and magic can save you, I fought beside Raziel as he claimed the immortal lands, I have battle against countless foes. Foes of flesh and foes of shadow and in all those battles never once had the silver rose abandoned me, you see my elder, you have tainted us in pursuit of a gift that I could have given you. Now it is time to meet your end my former brethren for in this battle the victor shall be the vampire race, the victor shall be Raziel."

Drago was full of both rage and shock, their marriage to each other was an arrangement but she still was the key to the future of his kingdom, the future of his people. The sight of Anabella being impaled was enough to trigger a rage in prince Drago that many had not witnessed since the death of the queen. Drago's eyes lit up with red hatred and started to shed tears of blood, fire surrounded his entire body and the blade of his spear had turned black, revealing to the vampire elder that Drago's spear was a cursed weapon. Von Drake only felt a change in the air and by instinct raised his sword in defence and there Drago was, the vampire elder blocked a vicious attack through his warrior's instinct to survive, something that he hasn't done since turning into a vampire.

The very breath of Drago released fire like a Dragon with each strike, Von Drakes arms trembled for the power behind the strikes was so monstrous that he feared that the slightest attempt to attack Drago would result in his death.

Catalina: "I can't believe my eyes, even with Von Drakes growth in strength the prince is overpowering him, he really is strong enough to claim the throne of Rovahn."

Gilgamesh: "well the spell Anabella used in a way made him the centre of our strength, it is only natural that he would be the strongest of us all."

Anabella: "stop wasting time admiring him and join the fight."

Gilgamesh: "yes my elder!!!"

Anabella: "he shouldn't have used all that power at once, he hasn't fully fused with all his abilities, if he goes on like this he will certainly die, join the battle and lead him to me."

Catalina: "but my queen your wounds…."

Anabella: "will heal!!! Now get in there and lead Von Drake to me."

As Catalina and Gilgamesh joined the battle Von Drake had taken charge of the fight, Drago slowly begun to weaken and die, Gilgamesh and his wife Catalina tried their best to aid him but each time they attacked they were beaten back. Each time leaving them greatly wounded and weak. Finally, the vampire swung his sword and brought Drago to the ground but this proved useless for as was instructed Anabella had used her gothic gauntlet to go through Von Drakes back and out his c.h.e.s.t. Von Drake looked and saw that Anabella had his heart in her hand, she pulled it out and grabbed the vampires red cloak.

The vampire saw Anabella walk towards Drago and put the red cloak over Drago and used her magic to gift a second heart to Drago. With his life force fading from his body Von Drake looked on with great confusion, just how much of a monster will she make through the ignorant prince Drago? What can she gain by gifting the prince the heart of a vampire elder?

Anabella: "your strength was great and the silver rose had given you a great gift but my sweet misguided boy it was never meant for you, it was meant for Drago, the king of the silver kingdom and soon to be the king of Rovahn."

Despite facing such a great opponent the strongest of the silver hunters had prevailed. The vampire elder Von Drake had fallen but there was no time for celebration for from the sky Drago could see his father falling in a ball of fire as the king of vampires Raziel floated far in the sky, king Titus had been defeated.

Raziel's log: "what a thrilling effort from the king of the mortal lands, Titus you have lived up to your bloodlines reputation, your ancestors will welcome you with open arms. The third day as passed, humanity has had their earned chance at a rebellion but now it is time for their king to put them back where they belong. Your valour has been exceptional, honourable but misguided, it's time to turn all those insignificant illusions into ash, Ragna of the saber brotherhood signing out.
