The Phoenix's Legion

Chapter 51 - Clash of Vampire, Lycan and Beast

Raziel battled the strange beast that attacked with a passionate rage, it had a powerful resistance to magic and constantly grew stronger, the vampire king was forced into a physical battle for all his long range shadow attacks proved useless. Raziel beat the giant back but it continued to come back stronger and free from injury, the beast seemed to also have the ability to heal instantly. The others tried to aid the beast but it's movement were so violent and powerful just the whip of its tale could kill a man. Raziel looked to a beaten Damien and noticed that he wasn't healing, the giant's fist's carried divine magic, perfect for inflicting harm on cursed beings. It was strange considering how rare divine magic was that this beast would have it flowing through its body.

Raziel: "to think I had a creature as mighty as you living under my own roof, you're not one of my cursed bloodline, what are you?"

The beast charged and beat Raziel to the sky, it didn't appear to have the ability to speak. Raziel dived back to the surface and smashed the giant into the earth with the fury of a meteorite crushing to earth. Raziel unleashed dragon fire and saw the beast flesh turn to soup but Raziel couldn't seem to completely burn the creature away. As Raziel lifted his flames the beast returned to its original form but for the first time since being seen on the battlefield, the giant appeared to be weakened. Dragon fire prevailed again and so Raziel kept his distance and consistently blasted the beast with dragon fire for the gifted beast was only limited to short range offence.

Just as Raziel thought he held the advantage with dragon fire until he felt a dark force slowly squeeze at his heart, it was Dante who had finally entered the fray still limping from his confrontation with Damien. Dante's greatest weapon was also his greatest foe for it used Dante's own life force to fuel its power but the head of the demon fist clan didn't care. He was purely focused on holding Raziel long enough for the one who he knew would harm him, someone he had sensed charging towards the battle.

Raziel grabbed an iron rod from the ground and threw it straight through Dante's c.h.e.s.t, Boian rushed to his aid as Hunter provided cover. Raziel unleashed fire upon them but Hunter's family shield stood strong even against Raziel dragon fire. When Raziel stopped his attack the shield had been thrown towards him, when the vampire king beat it away what was waiting for him was a golden lycan that seeped its fangs into Raziel's throat. Raziel could feel the lycan venom burn through his body, such an attack would have killed any vampire elder and yet the cursed king stood tall. Ragna's venom failed but he still had his strength and the support of the unknown beast. Raziel was locked in battle with two beasts' and yet was somehow beating both.

Ragna and the beast were successful at harming Raziel but nothing they did would put him down for good, War fang and Ayah joined the battle and tried to bite more venom into Raziel but the vampire king beat them away and killed War fang in the process. Soon enough both the beast and Ragna were beaten to the ground and thrown towards the other heroes, the only one left who would dare stand against Raziel was Killshot.

Killshot: "we can't beat this monster, not as we are, when I give the signal we retreat to the strong holds holding back the vampire army."

Dante: "that won't do us any good, we have no means of escape, we are better off dyeing where we stand."

Hunter: "am with Dante on this, better to die with pride than flew like cowards, besides this monster would just kill us as we run for the strongholds."

Killshot: "we are the hope of the human race, if we all die here then that hope dies with us, I know that's what my father would have believed."

Raziel: "as beautiful as it is to honour your father's memory, whoever the worthless mortal may be, what makes you think I'll just stand idly by and let that hope survive my rage."

Killshot: "because what I do next will definitely put you down, maybe even cripple you for life."

Raziel: "excuse me, you think that ring can harm me."

Killshot: "no, the death of my humanity and the rise of my true self will."

The earth trembled and orange scales begun to cover Kill shot's entire body, Raziel looked with disbelief, he wouldn't dare to even interrupt Killshot, he needed to see, he needed to see what this soldier was about to summon. The eyepatch removed and Killshot's eyes shut, the wind raged until suddenly it became still, Killshot opened his eyes and they were both that of a true dragon. The air around Raziel turned into a beautiful blue fire and blew him far from the battlefield, the orange scales consumed Killshot's face and the soldier fell to the ground. The heroes grabbed him and anyone else in need as well as the corpses of the fallen.

Raziel was on the ground in complete shock, physically he was more than capable of standing on his feet but his thoughts drifted further and further from his body. The vampire king would have remained in that state if Kali hadn't appeared and woke the king of vampires from his state of shock.

Kali: "my love!!! On your feet my love, the mortals have fled to their strong hold, I tried to call for reinforcement's but it appears that Dracula has taken control of the capital. This battle has sparked great confusion and we have lost many of our kind but once you lead the charge you will put an end to this foolishness."

Raziel: "the vampire armies still haven't broken through?"

Kali: "no my love, the mortals are persistent I'll give them that."

Raziel: "then they shall get no aid from me."

Kali: "my love?"

Raziel: "Tharion was right, the absolute power of domination that my kingdom possessed has made the vampires weak, the mortals see that now. They won't stop until either the vampires or themselves die, once your enemy shows you their weakness it is impossible to restrain your d.e.s.i.r.e to attack. Tharion has won our last game, Dracula wants the throne he can keep it for now, victory or defeat, the fate of the vampire army is in their own hands."

Kali: "my love what is wrong with you? Where are you going? You can't just leave, your kingdom is fallen apart, your vampires are fighting for you, for your pride as king."

Raziel: "I don't care about my pride as king!!! I only allowed this rebellion so that I could kill my cousin at his best and I have done so. Now I must restore the vampire race to its former self, for the calamity my daughter will bring with her will be the end of us all. I make my way to the tomb of twelve, it is there that I will begin to rebuild my vampire kingdom."

Kali: "the tomb of twelve? You're going to awaken those vampires? All so that you can rebuild a new vampire empire? What about this vampire empire?"

Damian: "completely worthless when compared to the twelve, they are without a doubt the most vicious of the vampire race, am living proof of that."

Raziel: "good to see you back on your feet my old friend, if you have finished with your nap, it's time we awoke your kind that sleeps in the deep."

Kali, Damien and Raziel vanished from the battlefield and left the outcome of the battle between vampire and mortal to fate. The most powerful foe to humanity may have let them be but what good will it do now that our heroes are trapped in the cursed lands. The greatest victory may very well end in the slaughter of every great hero that fought valiantly to get humanity to this moment. It would be selfish to beg in such a moment and yet their desperation compels them to be so bold. One more, humanity just needs one more miracle to secure the hope that would turn into a blazing fury, a final miracle that would spare the heroes who ended the long darkness.
