The Search For The Reincarnated Queen

Chapter 15 - If I am going to play an enemy in their story, I will.

Eli entered her room and laid on her bed, her hands above her head and her legs swaying back and forth, "Sinful being?" she whispered as her mind goes back to the time she first saw a ghost.

It was during her fourth grade, a young lady appears in their school comfort room. She was wearing a hospital gown, her hair was dripping with blood. Her voice was soft and cold at the same time.

"I..." the ghost said to Eli while she was faking to use a cubicle, "killed myself."

Eli closed her eyes as she tries to remember the ghost's story.

"I have cancer and I was about to undergo chemotherapy, but we don't have any money. My father was sent to jail after joining a kidnapping for ransom money for me, my mother fell ill after working too hard, and my brother, he quit school to help."

Eli stood up and changed her clothes. Back then, she wasn't able to understand why she killed herself. She was just amazed at herself because she was able to see and hear ghosts.

"I have to put an end to the cause of problems," the ghost said while looking upward. "I'm going to die anyway."

Eli stopped halfway through wearing her shirt when she remembered the last words of the ghost. "I'm going to die anyway..." she mumbles. Images of her parents flashed through her mind.

Her hands started shaking again while her heart pounds fast as her breathing becomes shallow. She was supposed to die with her parents if she didn't insist on sleeping in her Aunt's. She was supposed to be with them.

"Ma... Pa..." she whispered.

She can feel her fragile heart shattering again. Eli clenches her shirt and bit her lips, "Beasts..." she mumbles.

That time when police came in her Aunt's house, she was supposed to be sleeping. She sneaked out to drink water but she accidentally heard the conversation about her parent's murder. She thought she was just dreaming when she heard about beasts. But now that she encountered one... "I'll take my revenge..." she whispered as tears fall down from her eyes as rage fills her heart.

"Eli..." a voice called, Eli wiped her tears and turned around and saw E and Tram standing in her room. E holds Tram on his shoulder while Tram frowns.

"What?" Eli took a step back and looked at her door, it's supposed to be locked. Her window's closed as well. "How did you got in here?" Things can't get any weird, she didn't hear them entering.

"Well..." E raised both of her brows as she finds for the right words to say. "You've seen a beast... if I told you we're ghosts, would you..." E narrowed her eyes, "believe us?"

E watches any changes in Eli's expression, but Eli just continues staring at them as if they are trespassers and nothing more. Will she believe them? Is she thinking of a response? Why does Eli look troubled? Why does she feel and look... unfamiliar, as if she's a different person, as if she's not her.

After buying foods for dinner and snacks, Aunt Susie stops by the park and sits on a bench. The sun is beginning to take its rest. The sun rays are softly painting everything red-orange with a tint of yellow.

"I'm glad to see you in a good condition, Susanna," an old man holding a cane said. His large thick black crochet shawl keeps him warm and gives him an expression of lovable grandpa.

Aunt Susie nodded at him and moved a bit to let the man sit beside her. "It's good to see you too, Oberon," she said and smiled.

The old man groans from the dull pain from his back as he sits, "Well," he sighs and rested both his hands on his cane, "How's the Queen?" His warm happy tone turned serious.

"Eliora, not Queen. She's not the Queen anymore. How many times do I have to tell you this?" Aunt Susie's voice was sharp, her face turned stern, "She's not entitled to relive a dead person's life."

Oberon shakes his head, there's no helping in Susanna's view of Eliora, "No matter what you say, she's the Queen."

"Whatever," Aunt Susie clenches her purse, "I'm here to take the Foniko I asked you to brew. I feel that she's getting close to those beings."

"By beings you mean, her servants?" Oberon chuckles, "We cannot change her fate, Susanna. She's meant to meet the King again. Even though you kept her away from those beings for years, even though you've used my magic and spells and potions for her safety, she'll always end up on the same side of the coin."

Aunt Susie glares at Oberon and stands up, "Give me the Foniko, Oberon. If I only knew other shamans, I wouldn't have asked you to do this."

Oberon stares at Aunt Susie with a helpless expression, "Alright. But you know that the King is not affected by that potion, right?" He took out a vial from his pockets and gave it to Aunt Susie. "Susanna, I know you are angry with them because beasts killed your sister, but that is not their fault!"

Aunt Susie took the vial and turned, "It was their job to protect humans, and they failed. If I am going to play an enemy in their story, I will. I won't let them have my sweet Eli. I will stand with the rumor that the King killed the Queen, that's it."

Oberon shakes his head as he watches his friend walk away. It's been years since they found out Eliora's true existence. If her parents weren't killed, her Aunt might even be playing cupid for the King and Eliora now.

Taylan decided to take a walk and watch the sc.u.mbag beasts catch helpless humans in the slums. From his view, while standing on top of a tower, everything looks the same. Humans and other living creatures are as small as ants.

He took a deep breath with his eyes closed. He remembered the first day he took the Queen on a walk. She was screaming in fear. She wasn't fond of high places. But when she saw the sun setting down, her fears vanished. Her smiles appeared as her eyes glimmer with the sunshine. She was beautiful.

Taylan opened his eyes, for a moment he saw her image. But as he tries to remember it again, he's stuck with a silhouette. He clicked his tongue. Then another image struck his mind - Willow and Eli talking and laughing together.

He clenches his fist and sighed. Now that he thinks of it, he's clearly attracted to Eli. Whenever he's near her, he can't help but melt on her feet. She's like a magnet. She makes him want her more and more every second. She feels like a treasure that he wants to have, and protect.

But... aside from that, she doesn't seem to be the Queen. She doesn't strike him as his Queen. It is a coincidence that her parents were killed by beasts, but aside from that... she had no other encounter with the mystical beings.

If she was reincarnated, according to his grandfather's journal, the Queen should've already encountered paranormal events since she was young. She's supposed to be always on the edge of her seat surrounded by vampires, beasts and others. But Eli lives her life as a simple human. Aside from her parents' killers and Rein and the others, she's not connected to other important people.

The sun is slowly hiding its beauty as the night sky unfolds its stars. Taylan closed his eyes as memories came into his mind.

"Someone said that you were the one who stabbed the Queen, My liege," Rein reported. His guard's clothes were tainted with the Queen's blood as he was the one who carried her corpse.

"Who said that? And how can they say such accusation?" He asks while sitting on their bed. He just woke up from fainting after he unleashed his rage earlier.

"We cannot track the source, My liege. But... they said France Benedict was the last person the Queen had a conversation with before she was killed."

"Where is France?"

"He is... gone. He vanished, like a ghost."

Taylan opened his eyes as the memories buried themselves once again when he heard a scream from the south. Another human is killed. They are all doing their best to protect the powerless, but his power is slowly deteriorating. He needs the Queen's blood. He can't send all of his servants to protect and fight when he is feeling this way or else, he might even endanger their lives.

"France Benedict..." Taylan mumbles, "I'll find you." He said and disappeared.
