Trials Of Love: The Romantic Goddess

Chapter 28 - A Precious Object

'From this point onwards, I just need to watch the drama take place with no need to interfere or anything. I need to see how everything develops before deciding on my next course of action.' Thinking to this point, I went on, 'but doing nothing other than watching might feel a bit boring for some time, or it might not. Maybe I should also do something else while watching the play?'

As I was contemplating, Mina stood up and began walking out of the coffee shop. She seemed slightly in a rush because a notion had struck her out of nowhere as she had remembered something extremely important.

'Oh! My necklace! I couldn't find it last night because I found Mr. Constantine injured and bleeding there… and due to being busy with job hunting today, I had forgotten it entirely till now.' Having recalled the matter of her lost necklace, standing up, she left in a hurry.

Meanwhile, in an unknown location, within a dark room, two people were talking. Unfortunately, due to the darkness covering the room, the faces of those two were concealed in shadows as they couldn't be seen or observed. Identifying them was impossible.

The only perceptible details were the visible silhouettes of a person sitting on a chair behind a desk and another one standing respectfully at some distance.

The first voice to reverberate throughout the room was an extremely enraged tone, "What? He came to work again today? He's still alive and kicking? Didn't you say that person was an expert and he had already confirmed that he's dead?" This was uttered by the person sitting behind the desk.

"Uh, yes, sir. It was already confirmed but-" Said the other man with beads of sweat rolling down his forehead. He was truly afraid of the man in front of him whenever he was angered.

Before the man could finish, however, he was interrupted by the hostile voice again, "But why does he still come to work then?!? Huh? Could it be dead people walk nowadays? Is that what you're trying to tell me?"

"Ah… I-I'm sorry, sir. It's all my fault. I'll tell that person to try again, I swear I'll make sure he remains dead this time." Trembling at the mere sight of his wrath, the man muttered.

"F.u.c.k… you're such a moron. Tell your guy to wait for a day or two before trying again. This time, I won't accept failure, so keep that in mind." With a chilly glint going through the man's eyes, he warned the horrified man.

"Yes, sir."

Exiting the coffee shop, Mina ambled to the closest bus stop before leaving for her next destination. To find her necklace.

She was so obsessed with finding her necklace at all costs because, apparently, that particular item was something that had to do with her real parents and she had been wearing it for years now. So at this point, the necklace felt like another part of her body which she felt less without. Something she had to wear at all times now.
