Unfortunate Romance

Chapter 4 - Arrival in China

Feng Ting observed the skyscr.a.p.ers and busy streets from the cab. She was back in City A, technically now her birth city. She rolled down the windows, feeling the night breeze.

Feng Ting marveled at the metropolis. It was so drastically different from what she was use to, a place full of life. Bright signs hung from shops and smoke from food stands filled the air. People hurried along the night streets, and delicious smells filled the air.

She got off the Lotus Residency, a backpack and luggage in hand. When she decided to return to China, she had purchased the entire building and renovated it with the help of Ming Wenxin. The apartment complex had very good security and was rented out to many influential people. While bottom floors were occupied, she had exclusive access to the top 2 floors.

Feng Ting strode into the lobby, fiddling with her phone. "Miss Feng," the receptionist Lili greeted. She had seen pictures of the reclusive owner who bought the building. Because Feng Ting tended to dress in a low key style and was lenient toward staff, Lili had a very good impression of her boss.

Feng Ting nodded quietly and took the elevator to her floor.

She unlocked the door and stepped inside the modern apartment. The living room was decorated with a black and dark blue scheme. Forest paintings hung over the walls while shelves held manga and seashells. A huge black screen took an entire wall with a couch in front of it while floor to ceiling windows displayed a spectacular city view.

A column full of aquatic plants reached the ceiling, connecting to the greenhouse on the next floor full of rare plants and vegetables. Feng Ting smiled as she walked up the stairs to the greenhouse. When she renovated the top floors, she had made it only accessible from her apartment. It also sported a large indoor infinity pool and had a massive skylight.

Feng Ting changed into a bathing suit and dove into the pool light with warm lights. She swam over to the windows, observing the panoramic view of the city at night. She leaned against the edge and sighed.

When she first woke up in this body carrying her same name, she was shocked. Feng Ting was a genius agent of the Organization in her past life, with a specialty in computers and all round support. She was the seventh member of her team and the youngest strongest ace in Organization. Together, their team had dominated the world, combining their terrifying talents to climb from orphans into the higher ranks of society.

But they all died, failing a mission. Her eyes flickered with guilt as recalled the scene.

The Song Feng Ting of this world didn't have a such a nice life either. She was orphan adopted into the Song Family. However, her adopted parents treated her coldly. Her grandmother hated her, and her sisters disdained her. She had a weak constitution and was mediocre in all aspects. Adding on a meek and submissive personality, she was easily bullied.

She fell in love with a popular singer called Gu Tianyu. When he rejected her because of her incompetence, she flew overseas to Japan to gain a degree in music. However, a hurricane hit the country during her junior year and she died, allowing Feng Ting to reincarnate.

Feng Ting raised her hand, watching the water sparkle and rip down. "What are good Song family," her eyes flashed coldly, "since you mistreated her, then I won't feel guilty cutting ties off." After all, she was a soul that crossed over and unrelated to them. She was an orphan in her past life and was not used to having parents. Having family other than her teammates didn't sit right.

Since they never treated her well, why should she acknowledge family ties.

Winter's voice blared through the speakers. "Xiao Qi, you have an incoming call Uncle Yang."

Feng Ting scratched her neck. She left her phone downstairs. And she didn't feel like talking right now. "Ignore it."

Yang Cai Kang was a distant relative to her deceased aunt. Although she didn't know why, from past memories, she could tell he treated her like a daughter. Because of this, she was closer to him than her family. He had also helped her leave for Japan.

So Feng Ting accepted him as an uncle.

"You have received an invitation to a gala at 8 pm tomorrow." Winter reported. Feng Ting grabbed a towel and went downstairs to grab her phone. She read the text message.

It appeared that he wished to discuss something with her. Feng Ting mumbled. "It looks like I need a dress . . . "
