Warring Kingdoms: Birth Of The Dark Elves

Alex looked around at his growing force and thought 'These people should be trained in a military style that is new to this world, we will need to develop one that can beat the tactics that are used in combat. The only issue is that at this moment in time I have no idea what the normal tactics are in this world, I guess I can go with the core principles of one of the best militarys of my world for now, the Spartans. I will need to breed discipline and strength within my troops for that to work as well as the belief that the people next of them would rather die than fail them.'

Alex Shouted "All of you assemble behind your commanders, your typical day in the group will be as follows. You will start the day with a 3 mile run, anyone who doesn't finish before breakfast will have to an extra mile with the rest of their group, those that finish beforehand as a unit will be given extra food. After the run and breakfast we will march in formation for 6 hours and then break for lunch. We will then march for another 4 hours and break for dinner. After dinner you will have 2 hours of direct training with your commanders, then an hours leisure time and then sleep. Is that acceptable?"

"Yes sir" was the shout back, Alex nodded his head and said" Then lets get in formation and start moving. Infantry at the front, mages in the middle and archers at the back. Eva with me and the rest get your arse into gear. I want to be out of this area by nightfall." While they were marching Alex checked out his own status to see his development after gaining 4 new levels.

A notification pooped up in Alex's face ' Every 5 levels the user will get an ability point , this will allow the user to mutate or upgrade and ability into a new or upgraded form. The points that are spent on the same ability will increase the cost to mutate it the next time around. Please use your points well.' Stunned Alex contemplated which ability he should upgrade as he was deciding a new ability and class appeared and disappeared. Then stayed in his status, another notification rang out ' As the host levels up they may naturally learn more skills and abilities. The host can learn them the traditional way by doing the ability or by chancing it on a level up'

'The Class 'Iron General' has been added to the host. The ability 'Iron will' has been added.'

Alex thought this a bit weird for it to be added now, he refreshed his status page and the Class and ability had been added, he simply put it to the back of his mind and spent his one free point to mutate the engulfing sphere skill. 'The engulfing sphere skill has mutated into 'The unholy vortex'. Intrigued Alex looked at his new class and two new abilities in more detail.

The unholy vortex (Magic) (Lvl 6 0/600): Darkness will consume all, the vortex sucks all mana out of its targets and then uses it to multiply itself and detonate in a large area. The spell detonates with explosive dark magic causing insanity to enemies less then the user level.

Iron Will (Lvl 1 0/100) : Passive ability: The troops lead by this General are natural more disciplined and deal more and take less damage when the general is present.

Happy with the changes in his status and abilities, Alex lead his troops towards the new lands and away from the burning wreck behind them.

Three weeks had passed since the sacking of Basingultch, during this time Alex kept himself removed from the rest of the group and began teaching Eva all she would need to know in order to act as his second. The first thing he taught her was how she could tap into the darkness within her and turn into a strength, Alex did this by forcing her to stare into a candle. He then explained to her the way to draw out her hatred and how to use it turn the flame on the candle black. He demanded that she did this process without getting angry, if she failed he would simply clip her on the back of the head with his hand and say"Again".

This process went on for nearly a week until she finally manged to remain calm while channelling the darkness, Alex nodded his head and said"You have done well, we will now move onto dagger combat, go and get some from the carriage and meet me on the sparring field." For the next week Alex beat Eva to a pulp constantly, after a week, she was finally able to parry some of Alex's blows with enough skill to not take recoil from the strikes. Alex looked at her and said" Go and learn archery from Clara, you are not to speak too me until you can hit a target from 50 yards away. After that you can begin to learn the best part, monster taming."

His training of Eva done for now, Alex focused on joining the troops for their training regimes for the final week, seeing their general taking part in their gruelling training alongside them raised the morale of the troops. Alex also ate and talked with the troops regularly in their leisure hour, he began to get to know them on a more personal level, this also extended to his commanders whom he regularly talked too while they were doing their commander specific training.

At the start of the fourth week, the assassins came up to Alex and said" There is a city about a days walk form here, this scroll contains as much information about the city as we could gather." Alex nodded his head and said"You have done well, take a 30 minute break and then continue with your training.

Alex walked up the hill and got a look at the city, unlike Basingultch this city was huge in size and judging by the activity going in and out of the city it was very popular. Alex decided he would set up camp outside the city first and scout it out properly in the morning before deciding what he would do next.
