Worlds Conquering Necromancer

Chapter 20 - A new world

When the goblins came back they were ordered to rest for half a day to restore their strength, mana and stamina. They were living beings so they couldn't act nonstop. Emily took out of her inventory the tents and supplies and gave them to the soldiers to manage.

'The army's morale is high thanks to our continuous victories, plus they are well fed and taken care of. We should be able to take down another floor before we go back.'

She relaxed a little and started to learn another spell, periodically taking a glance at the camp.

The soldiers were divided in small squads, feasting and talking about another victory, about how their and their families' lives changed thanks to Emily and about her ability to unite different races and undead into a powerful force.

Half a day later they went downwards to the next floor, and to Emily's surprise it was totally different from the previous floors.

Sand dunes and some trees were everything they could find around. High in the skies was something resembling the sun, as it was emitting a strong, warm light.

'Hmm, that's like a new world itself. Will I be able to do similar things once I get control of the dungeon's core?' she thought, staring at the artificial sun.

She ordered the flying division to scout the land around in all directions, and return in half an hour or as soon as they detect someone alive.

She has put wardens around their location in case someone attacked and announced the start of the daily training.

Emily and her companions made a bunch of different training sessions that would develop the troop's reflexes, team play and stats. There were team battles of 50 vs 50 soldiers of the same unit, battles of five vampires against 100 goblins, weapon training session where they learned to use different kinds of weapons, formation training, and the ordinary push ups, running, squats, jumps, etc.

Soon came the scouts reporting their findings. To the north and west they found this floor's walls, with no trace of life on the way there. To the east and south, they found some gatherings of monsters like goblins and kobolds.

"Lads, there's an opportunity to test your commanding and fighting abilities. Ordinary goblins and kobolds shouldn't pose a threat to you, so the squads' leaders will take command in this extermination. We move in 10 minutes!"

The soldiers saluted and started to make preparations. They packed the tents and the cauldrons and plates they ate from and gave them back to Emily. Then they checked the armor and weapon's conditions before getting in positions, awaiting further orders.

"The vampires will serve as supervisors that will help only when the things are dire. Goblins will act in squads of 100, while the hobgoblins in squads of 50. Move out!"

'From the 750 goblins brought this time, 250 already managed to evolve after the previous three floors. I hope more of them will evolve after this one.'

There were more than 20 monster gatherings with around 200 enemies each. They were unorganized and served as great sources of XP.

"All right boys, we're gonna kick some a.s.s soon, and if we'll do it well, we might get some booze after this." said a squad leader instructing his men.

"Understood, boss Baz. You can count on us." said one of them.

"They're gonna blame the day they came into this world!" said another one.

"For booze I'm ready for anything, boss."

The whole squad started announcing their will to fight, looking at Baz with respect. Baz was the nearest to the next evolution from all the goblin squads. He has shown his ability to fight and command a 10 squad members in the previous battles, earning the title of Baz the "Fearless" between his fellow comrades.

"Boys, depart. Today's the day I'll finally get stronger!" He exclaimed expectantly after checking his stats.

They marched for about 20 minutes before spotting the enemy camp. From more than 200 goblins, only 15 were female. Those goblins' skin was yellowish, similar to the sand dunes, and looked rougher in comparison to Emily's goblins.

"Get in formation and advance as usual. As long as you listen to my orders, we'll win with no casualties." said Baz, getting in the middle of the front row of the formation.

He was standing out as he was the only one wearing green blood armor and weapons, made from the blood of the spiders. It was better than the goblin or human blood equipment and was used for the leaders and generals in the army.

When they were 150 meters away from the enemy, they got spotted. The enemies sounded the alarm and attacked all at once in a disorderly manner.

"Spears ready! 3rd row, cover the flanks!"

*Whoosh! Splatter!

First enemies were impaled by the first row's spears, taking the life of more than 20 goblins and leaving behind just corpses with blood.

Seeing this, their archers attacked from distance, but to no avail. Their arrow heads were made from crude stone that couldn't penetrate the blood armor, and even if they hit an unprotected body part, they wouldn't deal much damage.

Next they attacked in melee once again, trying to use their numerical advantage, but to no avail. Against a better equipped and coordinated force, such numerical advantages weren't helpful at all.

When the enemies amounted to 40, they tried to run. The majority got killed by the thrown spears, while the rest got stopped by the vampires.

In the end, only 3 females and the goblin commander were left alive to extract information. After the battle, twelve goblins managed to evolve, Baz included.

"Boyz, how do I look now?" he said with a big smile all other his face.

All goblins which were born in Cavetown looked different from the wild ones, as they were well fed and cared for from their birth. Because of this their faces had delicate and handsome features, especially their evolutions.

Baz got taller, from more than one meter to nearly two meters, and more powerful. A vampire sent by Emily gave him his new armor, spear, sword and a bow. Blood bows require high enough strength to be able to use them, so the goblins used only melee weapons, because simple bows would be too inefficient.

"Boss Baz, you look taller!"

"Yeah, and we've got no casualties, so the booze is guaranteed!"

"You were handsome before, but now you got even prettier, boss Baz!"

Suddenly, the group got engulfed by silence, while the last goblin got questioning and condemning gazes from his comrades. From this moment on, his comrades always tried to stay further away from him.
