Worlds Conquering Necromancer

Chapter 23 - The Swamp

In the eastern part of the swamps Emily was crawling alongside her troops, trying to surround a goblin tribe. It had a population of 3000 goblins and hobgoblins, while 1000 of them were warg riders. They had no defense fortifications and lived in small houses made of a resistant type of wood.

The wargs are a race of giant wolves with gray or black fur and reach the size of 1.5 meters in length and nearly 1 meter in height. They are ferocious and cunning predators that find delight in hunting and are usually bred by the goblins and hobgoblins as their mounts.

Emily tried to use "Discerning Eye" on the swamp Hobgoblins and wargs.

"Guys, those wargs are pretty strong themselves, not to mention in combination with a hobgoblin on top. Be weary of the riders and advance only in formation. Also, don't kill their females and the young wargs, they will be a part of us soon." Emily instructed her troops. They surrounded the whole village, ready to attack at any moment. "Fire!"

*Whoosh! Shoosh!

*Booom!

They shot their arrows and magic spells, targeting the warg riders. The first wave of projectiles managed to injure around 600 enemies, and 400 more with the second one before they switched to melee. The ring encircling the tribe was getting smaller and smaller, as the count of reaped lives increased. Emily's force managed to fight against the warg riders and other goblins thanks to acting as a whole and their uncommon equipment.

Emily was mainly using her bow because she had an inventory filled with blood arrows and corpses she could extract blood from. It was easier to confront the warg riders this way.

She first shot a rider in one of his temples, killing him instantly. That left the mount disorientated for a bit, before it charged towards his owner's killer. Emily used her air cut spell, managing to cut two of his limbs, before shooting the head of the incapacitated enemy. She understood that taming an a.d.u.l.t ferocious beast would be impossible.

Her next target was an archer climbing a tree. He was trying to sneak out of this battle, but Emily didn't let him go and shot him in the back. As the goblin fell down, he killed another one, falling on his head.

After the battle she obtained the "Accurate Shot" active skill. She would be able to shoot an extremely accurate and powerful enough arrow in exchange for some mana. They also managed to obtain approximately 50 baby wargs and 800 female swamp goblins.

After this they attacked another goblin tribe in the east and three tribes in the west, gaining 150 baby wargs and 2500 female swamp goblins. After half an hour of rest, Emily left them all in one tribe in the west with some guards, taking the rest to attack the ogres.

The ogres were giant, hideous creatures with nearly 3 meters height and tremendous power, but they had a big disadvantage. Their fertility rate was pretty small. Emily found out that their tribe was close to the trolls' one, so they had to finish the battle as fast as possible.

Once they reached the tribe, Emily counted 80 of them, then checked the stats of one of them.

Emily got shocked by stats that high. She decided to give the hobgoblins and goblins the role of archers only, while the vampires will take the role of baits.

"Blood warriors, use light weapons like swords and daggers for greater capabilities at evading, while the flying squad and the others will use range attacks to mow them down. Don't try to go for the kill, just distract them. Remember not to kill the children, they will serve as good subordinates in the future."

This time, the flying squad attacked first, distracting the enemy and trying to shoot their eyes, mouth, nose or ears in the process, the weak points of monsters that powerful, and usually every monster in particular. After came the blood warriors trying to cut their tendons to incapacitate them while they were distracted. The others were firing as many arrows as they could, trying to take them down with quantity.

Emily was playing the role of a sniper. Firstly, she shot one ogre in the eye, the arrow managing to reach his brain and killing him after some thrashes. She then shot another ogre in the ear, managing to kill him from one shot, too. Her exceptional accuracy was thanks to the newly acquired skill, "Accurate Shot". It didn't take that much mana and was deadly in its own way.

While they were mowing them down one by one, a thundering roar reverberated in the air, and even the earth started to shake. It was the trolls which heard the chaos happening and came to help the ogres fight against intruders.

The trolls were also enormous monsters that reached 2.5 meters in height. They were weaker compared to the ogres, but in exchange they had unbelievable regenerative abilities and higher health.

By the time the 70 trolls entered the battlefield, less than half of the ogres remained.

"Mages, attack the trolls with everything you've got! No need to be quiet anymore!" she said while leaving the ogres to the archers and conjuring a bunch of fire arrows. 'We must finish them fast, or more troops will die.'

*Whoosh! Shoosh!

*Psssh! Pssst!

The smell of burned flesh reverberated on the battlefield. The wounds inflicted by fire and lightning magic remained, while those inflicted by other types of magic regenerated back. 'So taht's their weak point!' she thought.

"Fire and lightning mages attack the trolls while the other ones help to take down the ogres!"

*Whoosh!

*Waaaaagh!

The trolls cried out in pain after another wave of attacks. Emily and her 40 fire and lightning mages shot spell after spell, trying to use more of those with high penetrative power aiming at their weak spots.

Thanks to the great number of archers, they managed to finish off the ogres pretty fast, but their arrows were useless against the trolls.

"The archers won't be useful here unless they shoot fire arrows, too. Hmm..." Emily ignited some trees around the archers and removed piles of wooden arrows from her inventory.

"Archers, shoot with ignited wooden arrows!" Emily ordered.

They managed to take them down in the end, but the blood warriors suffered a lot. From the 50 warriors, 30 of them died due to being eaten or crushed by those monsters.
