Worlds Conquering Necromancer

Chapter 26 - The Traps

Emily was flying above the forest, trying to find any enemy scouts going towards the mountains or the swamps. Thanks to her skills, she could see even through the numerous trees there and their lush leaves.

"Oh... this Orgug, he sent messengers to the north and west to gather all their forces together, preparing to fight the so called "human invaders", at least that's what our spy patrolling near the enemy walls told us. But little does he know that there are no humans at all, and even his forces in the mountains and the swamp are either already dead or on my side. Now we have to think of a way to win with the least loses." She said listening to the orders an orc king told his subordinates, which then departed to different directions.

"For now, let's just use mind magic on them. It would make him think that he has a lot of strong allies on his side. Even though we managed to shorten their numbers, the biggest part of his army is in the desert in the south-east, especially in his stronghold. We must not underestimate his power." Emily reminded herself.

She flew to the one going north first, stalking him until he arrived at the previous ice trolls' camp. He wasn't expecting to see no one there, and the place dented here and there. He thought they relocated their tribe, so he just went to the mountain goblins to ask about what happened and give them the massage. When he arrived, he got scared shitless by the number of undead there, and decided to turn back and run to inform his emperor.

Before he could do that he was put to sleep by Emily, then his memories were played a little with. "It would be good to transform him into a s.u.c.c.u.b.u.s, just that he might be found out by Orgug. I still don't know how powerful he really is..." she thought, before leaving him to the other vampires to change his memories while she went to the swamp after the second messenger.

She found out that he didn't enter the swamps yet. 'Thanks god.' she thought, considering the traps her guys might have put everywhere. If he wouldn't come back, it would raise the suspicion of the enemy. She sped up and knocked him out before he could kill himself, then took him to the other part of the army left there. The vampires helped her change his memories and let him go back. The messengers would tell that the reinforcements will come at the north-west of the forest, near the entrance to the desert.

'Alright, in around half a day Orgug is waiting for his army to gather, now we have to prepare entirely and destroy him once and for all. I don't think there will be another floor aside from the one with the dungeon core. That means I'll become the dungeon's master soon. I don't really want to destroy the core as that would be pretty wasteful. Who wouldn't like additional soldiers and citizens once in a while?' Emily thought to herself, her eyes glistening with expectation.

She decided to use traps and take the enemy by surprise. She would leave a part of her forces at the meeting point of the enemy that would taunt the enemy to attack them as soon as they can. While the enemy will be distracted, she would send the others to encircle and attack them from all sides. Also, they would prepare a lot of traps at the designated place, because the enemy will come in a lot of numbers, especially a lot of strong foes like the orcs, high kobolds and hobgoblins.

The traps were nothing new. There were spike pits made with the help of earth and blood magicians. They were large hidden pits with blood or wood spears at the end implanted into the ground. The swinging log trap was, as its name says, a big log that would knock out, injure or kill the enemy. The log swing with spikes works the same as the previous one, just that it has spikes fixed into it, making it more lethal.

The pits were made in close proximity in a semicircular way, so that after they were triggered the enemies wouldn't have that much space to advance, which would null their advantage in numbers.

While her people worked on traps, Emily was supervising them and thinking about other plans in case something goes wrong. The enemy this time was the strongest she had to ever fight against, and his followers were also very strong and plentiful. 'Everything will be fine. We are strong enough to win.' she thought, reassuring herself.

{After around 12 hours. The forest.}

"Emperor Orgug, we find enemy up ahead, but they not humans, they undead." said a hobgoblin scout.

"Then what are we waiting for? Attack all at once! Don't tell me you're afraid of some stupid undead!?" Orgug shouted so that everyone would hear him. He tried to boost their morale before the battle. He had an army of 12,000 men of different races, so their spirits was a very important matter.

When they started to advance they triggered the traps one by one, while the undead started to laugh out loud, trying to anger them further. Soon they reached the pits, and the undead stayed guard at the small paths that remained between them. Suddenly, wave after wave of projectiles like boulders, arrows, and spells were flying towards his forces, and soon after they found the enemy approaching them from the other three sides.

They were undead ogres and trolls, zombies, skeletons and vampires, even goblins and hobgoblins. The majority were wearing some kind of red or green armor with weapons of the same kind.

"Zyq, where the f.u.c.k are our reinforcements!?" he asked the orc responsible for the messengers. Zyq was scared and confused. His both messengers told him that the reinforcements would come at the right time, and now that they aren't here he might be killed by Orgug. He knew that Orgug was cruel and ready to kill because of a mishap like that, as he killed for mishaps way more insignificant before.

"The messengers I sent were the best men I had under me, and they said they sent messages to all the tribes. Maybe they on the way here right no-"

*Crunch

Before he could finish Orgug snapped his neck, killing him. "I don't need incompetent subordinates! I'll personally kill anybody that decides to retreat! Forward!"

*Waaargh!

He made a war cry and dashed towards the enemies which came from the back. He swung his axe towards a goblin, slicing him in half even with his armor on. His next target was a hobgoblin rushing towards him with a spear, but Orgug easily decapitated him, too. 'Like hell I'll lose here after all I've been through!'

Emily was in the group attacking the rear of the enemy's army. She was watching the battle, waiting for the enemy's orc lord to take action. Orgug killed one of his men then rushed towards her group, killing two of her soldiers.

"Stay in formation! Don't worry 'bout the orc lord, we've got the trolls and ogres that will take care of him." she said.
