Worlds Conquering Necromancer

Chapter 35 - Successful Negotiations

To the girls' surprise, when they entered Zazzeos' lair, the space changed once again. It looked like a house made entirely out of wood, and even the furniture was wooden too. It was somewhat similar to how a wooden house would look like on Earth, just a bit more primitive. Nonetheless, it was very comfy, giving off a warm, pleasant vibe.

"Your home is great, Dragon Zazzeos. It makes me feel as if I'm home, surrounded by my family and close people..." said Ramiya.

"Yes, it makes me feel the same way. I would have never thought that a dragon might live in such a house..." said Emily, observing the similarities to her previous world.

"Well, of course not every dragon lives in this kind of house. It depends on their race and preferences. There are some that like to be surrounded by graves or volcanoes. And please, considering the longevity of a dragon, I should be around your age. You can just call me Zeo. How may I address you?" The humanoid Zeo looked absolutely adorable, her silky hair of a green color, long enough to reach her knees. Her eyes a mix of brown and green, as if the symbols of earth and life.

She was even shorter than Emily, reaching her shoulders. Her attire was a brown skirt and a light green shirt, with green stockings and brown shoes. She looked more like "the girl next door" rather than a monstrously powerful dragon. She made them a signal to follow her and lead them to a waiting room.

"My name is Emily, but you could address me as my close friends do, Emmy." Even though she said this, the only one that addressed her this way was usually Ramiya, and sometimes Robell and Leyla.

"I'm Ramiya, but you can call me Ram."

"Please, sit down and feel at home while I'll prepare a cup of tea for us. Maybe some snacks for it, too." Zeo was happy that there were finally someone she could talk with after so long. She missed the company of someone her age, well, mental age. There were a lot of creatures in her lands, but they wouldn't dare to talk this freely with her no matter what. Actually, they weren't afraid, but felt too much gratitude and reverence towards their protector.

"Ramiya, you read a lot of books before. Were there any mentions about dragons being this friendly and pleasant to talk to?" Emmy asked, bewildered. The dragons were supposed to be the top of the food chain even in her previous world's mythology. It was strange for such creatures to not be arrogant and overpowering.

"No, there aren't. All mentions 'bout them were in the books of the old era. There was no communication with them since then. Those trying would usually die before even reaching its den, as a dragon's subordinates and surrounding monsters were way too powerful for them to overcome..." said Ram after concentrating for a bit, trying to remember everything she knew about dragons.

"Maybe the people of the old era were just unlucky to meet those dragons, and their bad character is just a stereotype?"

"Hmm... Who knows? Let's better ask Zeo herself, she seems like a good girl to me." Just then entered Zeo with the tea set and some biscuits.

"What do you want to ask me? Ask away, no need to feel uncomfortable about it." she said, pouring some tea for herself and the girls.

"Umm... The thing is, this is the first time we see a dragon. From the books we have since the old era, the dragons are described as violent creatures with bad characters, but you're in no way like this." Ramiya was uncomfortable saying this, as she liked how Zeo talked and how welcoming she was with them. She didn't want to make her feel sad in any way.

"It's true that there are dragons with similar characters, usually those of distinct races, like the arrogant and easily to flare up red dragons, or the all-destroying black dragons, but not all of us dragons are similar. Even every dragon race's individuals are pretty different among themselves." Zeo explained with enthusiasm.

"Does that mean that all forest dragons are similar to you in a way? Are they all so friendly and pleasing to talk to? Are they also as lovely as you are?" Ram was interested in gaining more knowledge, especially knowledge that no one else was able to get those days.

"Well, I'm the exception between the forest dragons. They don't usually welcome guests, and hate mortally the undead of any race, the undead dragons in particular. They protect the forests of intruders, though some of them reign on their territories as some tyrants, not caring about the lives of their subjects in the slightest. How am I different from the rest? I'm not like those old geezers, assuming all undead creatures are bad just because they're undead. It would be the same thing as you saying all dragons are arrogant." she said, staring periodically at Emmy.

"You already know I'm an undead, right?" 'At least that's what your stare suggests...' Emily thought.

"Yeah, I do. I was looking after you since your group razed a human village. Though there were actions I don't approve, most of them were all right. That's why you've gained my curiosity. You don't kill left and right, and even started your own base instructing monsters such as kobolds, goblins and orcs. Because of your training, they became totally different from their usual nature. They started to think and progress. You even combined the benefits of the undead with those of the living, like giving blood equipment to those creatures."

"We came here to propose an alliance, actually. Does that mean you have nothing against it?" asked Ram, seeing that there's finally a chance to succeed.

"Well, it depends on you. First, let's talk about the matters I can't accept. I already told you that protecting the forest is my responsibility, and the trees are also included there. I understand that u needed it to expand your base and to cultivate crops, but in exchange I want you to plant new saplings in the surroundings of the forest. Second, goblins are one thing, but your men must not harm the creatures under my protection in any way. Third, you have to come here once in a while, or I could come to your base, too."

"These are conditions we will gratefully accept, Zeo. We would be glad if you could visit us, no matter how often. You could take some of your friends and subordinates with you, too." said Emily, satisfied that the negotiations were successful.

"Then from this day on, we are allies. Your enemies are my enemies, and the opposite. Let's drink the tea and taste these biscuits. I tried to make them as tasty as possible." She said, sipping happily from her cup.

'Looks like she is way simpler than it seems at first glance. She's like a teenager girl in need of friends, but she's really cute, though. I guess my new relationship with Ram already changed the way I think...' Thought Emily to herself.
