A Villainess's Struggles

Chapter 15 - The Villainess Goes to the Woods

Summer came in a blink of an eye. My younger brother could already speak in full sentences. I wonder why my parents decided to give him all the "smartness" and give me only beauty.

Today I was forced to go to a cottage in a forest with my family. I wonder why mother suddenly told me that she wanted to go to the woods for a bit? When we arrived at the cottage, we unpacked our stuff and settled down. Apparently we were going to stay for 3 days in this cottage. I really don't want to be here...

There was no WiFi, no comfy beds, just nature....

I personally think that I'm an introvert who prefers to stay indoors. I dislike going outside and travelling. I stepped out of the cottage and looked around me.

There better not be scary animals here...Like a bear?....

I told mother that I was going to take a walk in the woods because I was bored. Sitting still in a chair for hours straight doing nothing made my legs hurt.

Mother told me to not go too far from the cottage. I walked in the areas around the cottage and randomly decided to look for money on the ground. I mean, there's nothing to do so why not try finding some coins to use?

I ended up finding a quarter on the ground in 30 minutes. What a waste of time. I should've bought a metal detector for situations like this.

Suddenly, I heard a noise coming from a big bush near me. As a human being, survival is number one. I acted according to my instincts and ran away immediately. I ran back to the cottage to see mother prepare fishing rods.

"Natalie, your father wants to go fishing, go with him" smiled mother.

Ugh, mother, you don't want to go that's why you're forcing me to go with him.

"Mother, I'm not really fond of fishing..." I replied.

"It's okay, you'll like it" said mother.

I remember fishing in my previous life...I sat there as the fish ate the worms without me noticing. Once there was a time I caught something but when I pulled up the "fish" it ended up being seaweed.

I was forced to go with my father to a lake nearby. It was awkward sitting in the car alone with him as we barely talk. Father's always at work and I rarely see him come home. I heard that he arrives home at around midnight and by then, I would already be asleep.

He talked a bit about fishing with me and that was the end of our conversation in the car.

When we arrived at the lake, a man talked to my father and lead us to a boat. My father and I sat in the boat and went to fish.

"Here Natalie" said Father as he handed me a fishing rod.

I really didn't want to waste the baits we had so I just told him

"It's okay, I pass..."

"How come? You don't want to fish?" asked Father.

"No no, it's just that I'd rather watch you fish" I answered.

"It's going to be very boring though, are you sure?" He continued.

"Yes..." I nodded.

In the end, it'll be boring regardless of whether I fish or not.

I watched my father fish for the entire afternoon. He caught a lot of big ones and took them with him.

On the way back to the cottage, he asked me which fish I would like to eat. I told him that I wanted the smallest one since I didn't have a big appetite. Of course that was a lie. I eat like a vacuum s.u.c.k.i.n.g in dust. My stomach empties out quite quick too.

Mother saw us come back and she looked excited for the fish. I remember her saying that she really liked bass. Maybe that's the reason why she wanted to go to the woods all of a sudden...

Dinner was cooked by father and it was delicious. Mother ate a lot of the fish and Richard, my younger brother drank lots of fish soup. My dinner literally consists of fish, more fish, water, salt, and maybe some other seasoning.

The trip to the woods wasn't that bad. Not a place I would come to again though. Especially not in the summer, there were so many bugs around! And that sound I heard earlier in the day...I wonder what that was?

~~~~~
After the 3 day trip, I got really tanned. My mother got so mad at me for not putting on sunscreen every 2 hours. I got lectured for an hour about how important it is to take care of your skin.
I'm also going to be starting grade 3 soon. I hope I know the people in my grade 3 class. I really don't want to be that one lonely kid who eats her lunch in the washroom stalls or in the hallways where no one goes to. Worst case scenario, I'll make a new friend if possible...
But no one wants to be my friend though. Since I get mad easily according to them hahahaha.....
