Lightning: Huh what nonsense-

Before Lightning could finish her sentence, extreme clarity overtook her mind. It felt like a cloud has been blocking her thoughts all this time and now that cloud has been lifted she can now recall everything she has ever been told or seen. There was one memory which stood out among the rest.

Lightning: 'I was abandoned, and Claire adopted me?'

In an almost hysteric voice

"This has to be a lie, our hair colour, eye colour and appearance are all similar"

Lightning: NOT NOW!

Serah: Light? You okay?

Lightning: 'I won't get answers from just sitting here'

Lightning makes her way downstairs, she sees Serah sitting on the sofa with a concerned look etched all over her face. While her mother Claire is cleaning up from the party she stops when she notices Lightning's distressed face.

Claire: What's wron-

Lightning: Am I really your daughter?

Both Serah and Claire turn pale and are at a loss for words.

Lightning: Ah, so It's true.

Lightning tries to walk back to her room but before she could get away, she was caught by Claire hugging her.

Claire: It's true we aren't blood-related, but you are still my daughter!

Lightning: (Looks at Serah) Did you know all this time?

Serah: I did…

Lightning: Why didn't either of you tell me?

Claire: Because it doesn't matter, it wouldn't change anything even if we had told you. You are and will be forever part of this family.

After Claire told Lightning the full story of how she found her on the doorstep of their current house after the passing of Serah's father. Apparently, before his death, they were trying for another child so finding Lightning who shared many of her familial traits seemed like fate to the distress widow, so she raised her as her own and retired from being an active huntress.

Once the explanation was over Lightning went back to her room to digest everything she was told.
