Hong Luo left her space, sitting straight up on the bed. Instead of holding a misty sleepiness, her eyes were lifeless.

She may have tried to fool herself, but she was still very much effected. Before she had left her space, she sat upon the guardrails, staring at her phantom spirits, hoping for relief. Yet all it did was the opposite. Instead of feeling better she felt worse. What they were now, was a stark reminder of what she's done.

She sunk into a dreary depression. The light in those eyes replaced with a seeping darkness. It was as if the reaper had graced the abode, s.u.c.k.i.n.g the soul from those fragile irises. With no power to resist, all could be done was wait for fate. A defeated form was left in place of this small girl. Invisible weights threatening to pull towards the abyss bottom.

Nuyun had just finished preparing breakfast, walking into the room when his eyes met this sight. He furrowed his brows and instantly appeared at her side. On cue his internal force flowed into her chilling body. The paleness slowly regaining color, but the cold remained.

"Did you have a nightmare?"

His dull voice echoed in her ears, redirecting her daze.

A nightmare?

She was confused by this statement. How could she have one? She never dreamt, because she never let herself. Before bed she'd take special medicine that deprived her of dreams. If not then she'd never sleep. Thinking about it, could she call her dreams nightmares? Nightmares are figments of imagination meant to torment the sleeper, yet if what you see are memories instead, then can they still be called nightmares?

Her lifeless eyes stared straight into his. Yet despite this, her gaze shot through him. Those once pure eyes had dried up. The clear water, now an empty lake, a cold wind whistling heralds end as the desolation increases.

His heart trembled at this sight. He'd never seen her like this. She was like...

A living corpse...

When this came to mind he pulled the little girl into his arms. He didn't like the look in her eyes. Like a blade stabbing his heart, gutting out, pulling until knots couldn't be undone.

Had he taken all the warmth from her, was she going to vanish?

He pursed his lips. Despite his endless stream of internal force, her body remained cold. On the outside, he was like a stable tree, but heaven only knew how panicked he was inside. Was he to lose what he had finally found?

His other hand stroked her hair. His long fingers ran through her silky yet slightly coarse locks. Many years of neglected had caused many slits along her hair strands, but he didn't mind them at all. His mind was solely focused on this action. He didn't know what else to do, just continuing this motion, not saying a word.

. . .

Time passed, and the two finally parted. Without a word they went to go eat their meal. It was silent as the two ate the time away. The little girl had her nose stuck to the table, her eyes coated with a sheen and slight flush that reached her ears.

The man likewise had his head high, a small curve on his lips as he ate his meal. Despite his refined appearance, a suspicious wet spot was in clear view on his c.h.e.s.t.

. . .

Capital market center.

The market was bustling with people. The many shops who had gained back supplies, their items were in high demand after the rain. Crowding was obviously a problem on this day. And with crowds, comes accidents. Hence the people were paired up in twos or threes. A safety measure in times of market chaos.

Walking passed these crowds of people, a little girl goes unnoticed. Without that large man by her side, Hong Luo had left the center of attention. No one noticed that she was even there.

She yawned. She hadn't a clue what she would buy here.

Despite her morals nagging her, it's thanks to Nuyun, her main issues were fixed. For one, food wasn't a problem. She felt like a pig each time he forced her to the table to eat. And when she refused to move he'd bring it to the bed. Then second was coal for heating. Forgetting about bed room issues, she hadn't a clue how he was heating her baths, but each time they were just right.

At first she thought he was using internal flame, but she quickly dismissed this idea. Since there was no damage done to his dantian over the week. She shook her head.

Thump. Her shoulder was hit by a passerby. Her mind had lost focus, leading to this accident.

"My apologies." Quickly she responds, but the passerby didn't notice and continued on their way. It happened a few times more, each one not noticing the collision, each bump gaining a bruise to the collection.

"Mistress you're so clumsy, what to do if you fall and get hurt?"

Appearing by her side without her notice, grabbing hold of her hand. Little Soul had come out of the space, pulling Hong Luo away from yet another collision.

"What are you doing out?" She looked around, with no one looking their way, she lets out a breath of relief.

"Are you trying to cause your mistress trouble? What am I to do if you were seen, hmm?" Looking down at the little fellow she reprimanded.

"But no one saw. Little Soul made sure of that. Mistress do you want more bruises, cause Little Soul doesn't." He narrowed his eyes as he puffed up his cheeks.

Why doesn't mistress ever learn? Many centuries later, and she still can't navigate without getting hurt. There were many times she'd come home looking like she just got out of a fight, yet each time it was do to clumsiness. Ai, makes one worry and doubt. How does someone so proficient with medicare, a genius with all her hands touch, not know how to avoid a collision?

Little Soul shook his head, as he continued, "Mistress do you even know what you want to buy? Why come out at all? Was it just to be bumped and bruised?"

He was quite confused by this. Usually his mistress would not dare to move if there was no need. Yet here she was, without a need. What had gotten into his mistress? Would the mountains flatten and the rivers run dry tomorrow?

"Is there a problem? Why can't I walk around with no clear course?" Little Soul rolled his eyes with those words. But she just ignored him. She wouldn't dare say her real reason, as she recalled her last trip to the market which brought forth a sigh.

Not a single passerby came near with Nuyun next to her. He was a good repellent. Sadly she left the repellent at home.

And why was this? A flush entered her cheeks as she recalled. She can't believe that she, a grown woman had cried in that mans embrace. Although she was a child in form, her mind had long past maturity.

Ah, that was the largest loss of face she's ever had! When was the last time she cried in front of others? Only Little Soul had witnessed such a scene. Even then she would feel ashamed. But this was different. This man was not only her patient, but she hadn't known him long either. Less than half a month! Ah, she hadn't a clue where to hide her head.

Hence here she was. Running from the problem she started. How m.a.t.u.r.e right?

Luckily he didn't ask, or she'd truly turn to a tomato field. Ai, she hadn't a clue why either so she'd just be stuck being appraised for sale.

Smacking her face to dismiss the nonsense, she begins formulating, completely ignoring Little Soul who had curled around her arm.

She absolutely can't stay in that courtyard. Even though its convenient, who's to say those fools won't pay a visit? She refuses to let them know she still yet lives. Just imagining all the trouble yet to come, caused her to shiver. One hundred percent certain, energy will be wasted fixing said problems. Wasting the energy, I refuse!

But the problem is, where to live?

As the thought was forming a hoarse voice rings out from in front. This voice pulled Hong Luo from her thoughts as she looked on in confusion.

"Found you!"

Huffing and puffing a girl with disheveled hair stood in place. Her gown was full of scuff marks, mysterious stains, and what appeared to be a line of paint? How strange. Even for a beggar she'd be unique.

Hong Luo looked behind her, then back to herself and pointed. "Are you talking to me?"

"Who else if not you?" She looked aggrieved as the words left her lips, pulling back her hair.

"Do I know you?" Her confusion was increasing.

"How could you forget this miss? A week past, a thief stole from me. And this stu(pid)... ehem! You this kind child retrieved the stolen goods. Although I yelled without knowing. I apologize." she dipped her head showing her sincerity.

Mind a blank, Hong Luo honestly couldn't recall. But the girls sincerity, despite her horrid cover up, she can't leave. So she forces a grin and goes with the flow.

"It was not a thing, no worries no worries. But why have you been looking for me? Can't just be to thank me?" She giggled at the thought.

A bright smile lit up the girls face, making the girl look very lovely despite her appearance. "This one's name is Yu shi, maid to imperial physician Wu. Of course this one wishes to thank for a good deed. In thanks, this one would like to invite the young miss over." Her inner maid awoken, bringing forth the true elegance of a lady.

Before Hong Luo could respond, the girl started rambling, "It will be worth your while! Imperial physician Wu is the best Doctor in the kingdom. There's not a case that hasn't eluded him, his kindness reaches the heavens. The emperor wouldn't let him treat him otherwise. Even he has to bend to Doctor Wu's words. I assure you, the gift will be worth it. Free medicare is certainly not excluded!"

Free medicare? Pft. Little Soul couldn't help but laugh at this. If you knew who my mistress was you'd never offer such a thing! How can this something Wu compare to his mistress?

"Big sister, my mommy doesn't need. Big sister go away!" Little Soul huffed and puffed.

Shocked, she had just noticed this little fellow, and boy was he adorable! Temptation pushed her to squeeze his little cheeks, but she stopped herself. Why? Because of what he said!

"Mommy?" Her eyes widen in horror! How young did this girl have to be to have such a big child?

Feeling the wrongness in this situation, Hong Luo quickly cleared this up before the girl's thoughts went any deeper.

"Little Soul is an orphan. I took him in, and ever since he would call me mommy. I've tried changing this habit of his, but this little one just wouldn't change. I-I'm sorry for his actions." She pinched Little Soul, pressuring him to behave, which he responded with a bitter grunt.

Yu Shi was greatly relieved by this. Who knows how scared she was as her thoughts ran for miles. Once she thought about it, this was logical. How could such a young girl birth such a big child? She shook her head, as she continued her advertis.e.m.e.nt.

Hong Luo widen her eyes at girls enthusiasm. Despite Little Soul's intervention, she was still trying. Makes her curious what this doctor did to make this honest girl so energetic to propagate.

Anyways she didn't see a problem with this. She found the girl quite lovable. Couldn't help but think back to Rong'r when she was this cute. So she gave the girl a smile ready to agree, but just when the words were to leave her mouth a commotions catches both their attentions.

"You sir, leave at once!"

"Please hear me out, I meant no offence. Please please!"

"So rude, how dare you claim 'I' in my lady's presence. Why must you insult, such utter barbarity!"

Parting the crowds, a large man dressed in black, his face stern and square. Quite like that of a large bear, with the looks of an honest type. This man was relentlessly following a small girl dressed in white. Her hair was done up in the style of an unmarried lass, her gown reflected nobility along with her posture. She wore a pained expression as she tries to warn off her unwelcome company. Between the two was a maid that protect her stance with full enthusiasm.

"Wan Yao Yao! What is that fake flower doing here?" Yu shi exclaims.

"Fake flower?" Hong Luo asks.

Her mood gloomy, she responds halfheartedly. "Wan Yao Yao the famous white lotus. The elder miss of general Wan. She's spoiled, haughty, and likes to play pretend. Don't let her looks fool you, she's all black and yucky inside. Best you avoid to not be contaminated by her filth!" She humphed.

"I assume you two have history?" If not then why the gloom and doom?

"Who would want to associate with that vixen? Humphed! She comes into our shop, refuses to pay the fee, then expects good service with all the bells and fireworks. Soon as the crowds vanish, her true face appears, causing trouble for all that are but worms beneath her foot." She mumbled and grumbled.

"Oh." She looks over at the fake flower, wrinkling her brows, only to shake her head. Children. It was no wonder with this maids temper she'd find the girl unbearable.

Wait, temper? Her mind whirled until a light went off. OH! She remembered now. This girl was the temperamental breathless girl that nearly chocked on air. She nodded her head, proud she managed to remember.

In the middle of her thoughts, a phrase gets screamed out by the maid, bringing a twitch to Hong Luo's brow. Little Soul wrinkled his brows and looked up to Hong Luo, then shook his head. Not good!

"Perverted bastard!"

The large man in black, feeling rather helpless, reaches out to grab for miss Wan Yao Yao. It was easy for this man to bypass the maid, his arm length was rather long.

But without a warning, a ball of light passes between Wan Yao Yao and her maid, aiming straight for the man.

Once it hits, the man fell back a few steps, throwing him for a loop.

This gave Hong Luo the window of opportunity to grab both Wan Yao Yao and her maid by the wrist. Without a word she pulled them away from the man in a sprint.

"Ah! Wait for me young miss, don't leave Yu Shi behind!" Following soon after, not willing to lose her after finding her, Yu shi ran with a fire in her pants. Don't you dare think you're getting away from me, I spent nights on the street looking for you!

As the girls were running, the man had come back to his senses. About to run after him, but that light floated in front of him, making him rather dazed. He was curious what it was. But just as they say, curiosity killed the cat, and soon he will learn the hard way.

Wan Yao Yao's maid spoke up as they were running, "I thank the miss for the assistance, but can't we slow? Running won't solve a thing. That man will just as," easily catch up. She never had the chance to finish this sentence, before something startling happened.

Hong Luo smirked. She hadn't planned to get involved, least she waste the energy, but her pet peeve just had to be addressed.

Under her breath, coming out in a near whisper that only Little Soul, who had at some point clung to her neck could hear. With a trace of laughter she spoke but a word.

"Boom."

Just as the word left her lips, a large explosion went off behind the fray. Stunning all in its wake.

It hadn't been a terrible explosion, but it was enough to scare. Yet the man in the center, his curiosity caused his hair to turn into a ball, and a few bruises for his trouble. Thanks to his cultivation realm being rather high, he hadn't a need to worry for internal issues. But sadly his outer issues were rather pitiful.
