Scarlet's Awakening

Chapter 13 - Soul Binding

Rozen Castle, Dark Dimension

Eigeel's Study

Talon's suggestion made Eireen, Silver and Eigeel turn around and look at him. The three had very complicated expressions on their faces. Especially, Eigeel. Yeah, Talon's idea is indeed a way to find their precious Queen Scarlet, however...

"No one in this room has ever done a soul-binding ritual with the queen before." Silver said.

In understanding, Eireen nodded "We can't form a soul-binding ritual without the Queen's presence here. In other words, it's difficult to use that method to find her in the other dimension."

"I might have an answer to that." The silent Eigeel abruptly spoke.

Confused, Eireen turned to look at her older twin brother "What do you mean?" Eigeel sighed and gradually unbuttoned his dress shirt, when he was suddenly stopped by a very familiar booming voice of a female.

"Hold it right there! Why is Eigeel undressing himself? I thought you guys were having a strategic meeting." The woman stood at the entrance, her light blue hair swaying gracefully with the breeze, as her emerald green eyes looked at the people inside the room. She looked stunning, like some kind of a water nymph, and she was wearing a long blue dress made of little pearls and corals and in her hand, a silver trident lay.

"Aqua! You're here!" Eireen screamed, running to the side of the newcomer then clinging to her arm

"I rushed to sober myself as quickly as I could when I heard that the queen was awake." Aqua respectfully said to Eigeel.

"Don't shake me too much. I might barf." she added, saying it to the smiling faced Eireen.

"Sure!" said Eireen, who nevertheless shook Aqua even though she asked her not to do it Aqua's face turned green and what happened after that was pretty obvious.

"Don't forget that I'm here as well!" a man with copper colored, curly hair and red eyes walked into the room wearing a white dress shirt, a long black midnight jacket and breeches. The silver cross earring on his left ear jingled as he walked.

"Levin," Silver said the man's name as if there was something bitter inside her mouth.

Levin smiled, showing his retracted but very visible fangs. "Good to see you too, lemons."

"Stop. Calling. Me. That!" snapped Silver, irritated. Her calm exterior shattering into pieces.

Levin smiled, his eyes sparkling with dark amus.e.m.e.nt as he stared at Silver's face.

"Nah. Even after 497 years, I'm still not going to stop calling you Lemons. The title best describes the pained expression you create whenever you see my face."

"Ugh! You bloody vampires are so annoying!" yelled Silver.

"Why don't you guys change already. After all these years you're still bickering every time you see each other," said Eireen, pointing at Levin and Silver's faces as she clung to the sighing Aqua. Eireen's excessive shaking and clinging to her arm made her hangover worse. She just had her breakfast barfed out.

"The Silver Moon Wolf Clan and the Blood Moon Vampire Clan never got along with each other, Sister. So, don't push it."

"By the way, where's Red? I can't see him anywhere?" Levin questioned, looking around the Eigeel's study.

Right on cue, Eireen gasped when she sensed an insect crawling on her leg.

"AHHH!" she screamed.

Aqua sighed in satisfaction when Eireen let go of her arm while the other members of the order watched Eireen as she desperately tried to shake off the red fur ball on her leg.

Levin and Silver were trying to tone down their laughter while Talon and Aqua were just sighing. It's been a long time since they've been in the same place, and it's good to know that some things have never changed.

"Alright, that's enough, Red." Eigeel grabbed the fur ball out of Eireen's leg. "Stop scaring my little twin sister."

The fur ball Eigeel called Red suddenly grew a head, four legs and nine fluffy tails. The creature stopped growing until it was as tiny as a little puppy. It snuggled next to Eigeel and purred while he held the little creature in his arms

Eireen screamed at the little red fox, aiming her fingers at it. "You nasty little mongrel! You nearly scared me to death!" Red made a series of short squeaking noises as he grinned at Eireen.

"Get over it, little sister, consider it his way of saying he misses you," Eigeel said gently patting the fox's furry head.

"But—"

Eigeel cut her off, setting Red on his research table so that he could listen to the meeting. "We're wasting our time."

All of them were quiet inside the room. To the newcomers, Eigeel reiterated their conversation before they arrived. After that, Levin spoke.

"It is possible that the soul binding is able to track the location of the queen. But not one of us has performed the ritual with her majesty as she declined to trap us on a master-servant agreement."

"And that is what I want to answer." Eigeel responded abruptly.

Eireen shaked her head when she looked at her brother's serious expression.

"N-No... Don't tell me you-"

Eigeel removed his collar, and there was a black soul-binding symbol in the shape of a rose on his neck.

Everyone gasped inside the room. They were completely speechless and shocked. Only Eireen was the one who had returned from her stupified state after a few minutes of being frozen.

"Brother, you- you cheated on me!"

"What?" Eigeel didn't expect his sister to respond like that.

"Me too! I didn't know that you could be so despicable! You made a soul-binding contract with her Majesty without informing us!" said Silver, her face full of resentment against him.

Eigeel sighed, shaking his head, while the others started to blast him with charges of being unreasonable and unfair. Even the adorable little Red was scolding him with his squeaky voice.

"Can't everybody see that we've got bigger problems to take care of?" Eigeel said in frustration.
