Scarlet's Awakening

Chapter 28 - Support System 2

Scarlet has to vividly imagine the kind of support she wanted first since concentration and focus is very important and imagery is the key to successfully make the support system.

Scarlet already thought aboit it and there are 3 specific qualities she wanted the support system to have; First, the support system should be the one that's more focused on their goals and help remind her of their priorities like a proper secretary.

Second, the support system should also have the capacity to react in all sorts of situations and circ.u.mstances.

Why is that? Because, Scarlet needed someone beside her with a clear mind that can asses future situations- like for example if their life is in danger, the support system has to formulate ways to save their asses. That's just an example.

Third, the support system must have the enthusiasm and commitment of a reliable assistant, and of course, it has to have patience and is humble, almost like a human being since iy's a clone of her very own brain.

When Scarlet was clear about what kind of support system she wanted to create, she closed her eyes and followed her instincts since this is the first time for both, her and the former Scarlet Rose to create a living being who breathes and thinks like a person.

"Okay... Here we go."

Scarlet muttered to herself before raising both of her hands in front of her and started pouring all of her magical energy in front of her.

Scarlet clenched her teeth in concentration, controling her mana to form itself into a ball the size of a dot.

Afterwards, she started programming the support system like a computer, slowly turning it into the kind of being she was thinking about inside her mind. A minute went by and Scarlet's mana was starting to form into a glowing ball the size of a ping pong ball.

It hovered infront of her palms, growing continuously in size as the seconds went by.

"...My mana is starting to drain out." Scarlet g.r.o.a.n.e.d as she sensed her power diminishing rapidly.

She didn't know building a support system required a lot of magical energy to actually succeed! If this continues, her spell will surely fail! She can't let that happen. She has to think of a solution. Fast!

Scarlet cried out when she felt a pain striking inside her head. Her strength was starting to dwindle. She was approaching her boundary and the spell wasn't nearly finished yet!

Sweat started to come out of her forehead as she continued to endure the pain and fatigue she was feeling. And she also still doesn't have a way to continuously go on with the spell.

Scarlet felt like she was about to pass out from being drained of power continuously. She gritted her teeth together and closed her eyes., 'Please work. Please work.' she tried her hardest to maintain a vivid mental image of the support system inside her mind.

Unfortunately, even though Scarlet was indeed trying her hardest to keep the same amount of mana output she was doing. She still couldn't keep it up!

The energy coming out of her hands was starting to decrease, and it was affecting the spell. She can see that the glowing mana ball she was trying to maintain was starting to fall apart.

"No." What is she going to do now? Suddenly, when Scarlet was about to give up because she didn't know the answer to her question, she felt her fatigue slowly disappearing and the mana coming out of her hand was coming back to its usual amount of output.

Feeling something slightly hot was resting on her skin, Scarlet immediately looked at the necklace on her neck.

Gasp!

The necklace... It was glowing again! And this time it was charging her body with mana, functioning like a battery.

Scarlet reached for the glowing stone on her neck, she clenched her hand around it, feeling grateful to it for helping her.

Scarlet smiled. 'Looks like this spell is going to work now.'

She didn't waste any more time and started focusing on the spell. She knew that the necklace has a limit and it would eventually stop giving her mana.

That's why she has to succeed before that happens. She had to, or else all of her efforts will be for nothing!

Scarlet immediately made last adjustments inside her mind when she felt the spell was entering its final phase. The progress has reached 95 percent and Scarlet needed to increased her mana output to finish it.

Scarlet clenched her teeth together before closing her eyes.

'I hope the necklace holds out until the end.' she prayed silently.

Progress- 97%

This is it!

Scarlet held her breath. "Unnnngg!" blue veins appeared on her forehead as she forced the remaining powers out with all her might.

The ball expanded.

98%

The ball continued to expand.

"Come on!" Beads of sweat rolled from her forehead down to her eyebrows. She was already starting to feel weak and dizzy.

The process was sapping all of her strength!

Scarlet was going faint any second now, however, she knew that she can't lose her consciousness at this moment.

Why? Because this is the most crucial moment of the spell. And she knows it!

She has to try and endure the pain and fatigue with all her strength if she want the spell to work. That's the only way for this to succeed.

99%

The ball was bigger than her now.

Just a little more...

"Aaaargh!!" She roared, gritting her teeth as she poured everything out for the last time.

100%

The ball rapidly expanded, filling the whole room before...

BOOM!

It exploded! And the force of the explosion blew Scarlet away.

"Ahhhh!" She screamed.

Her back was about to hit the wall very hard, when somebody suddenly appeared and embraced her from behind.

That person protected her from the impact of the explosion. And that was the last thing she saw before she lost her consciousness.

"*Cough!* *Cough!*"

Jasper fell to the floor and coughed out a lot of blood.

"Milord!" Anselme shouted in horror, immediately coming to his master's side to help him up.

Anselme was really surprised when Jasper suddenly became injured in front of him. What exactly happened that made him hurt himself like this so badly?

"Unng!" Jasper winced in pain, clenching a hand on his c.h.e.s.t before coughing a mouthful of blood once again.

"Milord, what happened?"

Jasper ignored the question and forced himself to stand up, "S-Scarlet's in danger. I have to go to her..." he urgently said, blood trickling down from the corner of his lips.

"But milord, strongly advice against it! Mistress Scarlet doesn't know you at your true form. If you show up in front of her now she will not recognize you. Also, you're injured. We have to prioritize your health first."

Jasper didn't listen, throwing his legs forward to walk but his legs were too weak!

Jasper fell to his knees, making him curse loudly. "Goddamn it!"

He could barely stand up!

"I'm going to call a doctor..." Anselme stood up to leave.

"No!" Jasper stopped him by holding on to his arm. "I have to see if she's alright first, or else, I'm not going to get myself treated."

Anselme looked at his master's determined expression and sighed. "Very well, milord. Let me go and see if we could sneak in without being detected."
