Scarlet's Awakening

Chapter 3 - Scarlet Rose

Faced with her inevitable fate, Sheila finally arrived at a decision.

Time resumed itself and Sheila pushed the unconscious man to the side with all her might.

Sheila closed her eyes, showing that she was ready to accept her time.

Then, everything happened in a flash, Sheila felt her body smash against the hard metal. The sounds of her bones breaking apart from the impact.

Her tiny body clashed with the formidable force that stopped her lips from crying or making a single sound. Then, her body was thrown into the air, and she fell violently on the cold cemented highway.

She couldn't move. She just lay there, hearing the screams and gasps of the people around her.

She coughed a mouthful of blood. Too helpless to move as the strength in her muscles gradually weakened. Moist, thick red blood poured out of her body, and the pool spread across the cold cemented street.

Once Sheila was able to open her eyes, slowly, she saw the different blurry expressions of the people around her.

There was fear, panic, sympathy. While others were taking photographs to post in their social media accounts, some were whispering how pitiful and unfortunate she was.

No one approached her. As her vision slowly became blurry by the second, she could sense her life slipping away bit by bit, thinking,' So this is what it feels like to die slowly.'

It was lonely and cold.

Sheila felt her upper body rising from the surface, and a warm embrace shielded her head and shoulders from the cold wind of the evening.

Her eyes had already been closed, but she could still feel the comfort that the hug gave her. Then, in the midst of her drifting consciousness, she heard a voice, desperately calling her name and telling her to hang on.

Sheila regretted not being able to catch a brief glimpse of the face of the person who embraced her at the very last moment. Unfortunately, she was no longer able to remain awake, and the darkness had engulfed her mind.

Sheila Legazpi... was dead.

She didn't know what happened after that. When she aroused from her sleep, she was already alone in this weird place, starkly confused and troubled.

She assumed herself dead when the incident happened. Her condition was too serious, she couldn't possibly survive that kind of accident.

But how is she still alive? In her c.h.e.s.t, she could feel her heart beating. That's a clear sign that she's still alive, right? A dead person's heart doesn't pound, right?

Exhaling deeply, Sheila calmed herself down for she was about to freak out! She had to clear her mind. Or else she can't assess her situation. After a moment of deep breathing, Sheila finally started her assessment.

Now then! If she's still alive, she'd have to be in the medical ward right now. But looking at the feudal interior decoration of the place she's in, it doesn't really look like she's in a medical facility.

Second, Sheila was shocked and horrified when she looked at her very own hands and fingers. They were delicate looking and white like porcelain glass. She was born with bronze-colored skin since birth so why does her skin tone look like this?

Has she actually turned into a ghost? Suddenly, Sheila's thought.

No, no, this isn't possible. She's still alive, and she's sure of that. She already mentioned that she could still feel her heart beating inside her c.h.e.s.t. So it's clear she's alive and well.

Also, Last but not least, Sheila looked at her clothes.

"What the-" Why the hell is she wearing a dress?!

"My Queen,"

When Sheila was about to freak out again for the second time, a man's rich and soothing voice suddenly greeted her from the entrance, She turned to look at the person at the door, and when she did, her body froze. Blinking twice, maybe three times.

Sheila's mouth nearly dropped to the black marble floor when she saw a very handsome man standing in front of her.

He's tall-maybe beyond six ft tall with an exceptionally charming profile, blue eyes that gleamed like that of gemstones, and blonde hair like the sun rays.

And his face, wow, it was so beautiful, he looked like the prime example of a prince you see in a fairytale storybook.

And on his body, clothes of the Middle Ages; a tunic, leggings, and pants accentuated his manly features. He just lacks a cape and a crown, and he would finally look like a prince!

After a few moments later, Sheila's mind finally recovered from the bedazzlement. She opened her mouth and questioned the beautiful man, "Uhhhhhh... Er-Who are you?"

Disregarding her inquiry, the man knelt before her, his head bowed as though paying respect to a sovereign.

"It is my greatest joy and honor as your respected support and advisor to be the first to witness and welcome Her Highness Queen Scarlet from her awakening." Sheila's lips flattened at his words. Was he referring to her?

Confused, Sheila suddenly remembered something she had read from the Chinese Crossover novels, which had reincarnation or transmigration in them.

Such genres are the reason why Sheila loves to read Chinese novels. She likes the idea of having a second chance to live her life again. Often, these crossover stories usually begin with the main character waking up to a mysterious world within a body that isn't really theirs.

Then the memories of the true owner will emerge, mingling with the present memories of the soul living in the body. This process will give the main character insight into the entire background of the story and the life story of the original owner.

Right on cue, Sheila's head began to hurt. Memories that did not belong to her began to appear within her head. She stuck her head in the center of her t.h.i.g.hs, chewing her lower lip as she felt the agony splitting her soul.

After a while of enduring such torment, the pain inside her head began to subside. She opened her eyes and searched the memories she just got.
